This is really cool Tempest 2000 arcade cabinet conversion done by Jeff Mathews at Classic Arcade Restorations, for Eric Clayberg. Eric posts:

I have an extra set of Atari 2600 paddles for trade.  All cleaned up to be jitter-free.

Here are some more unique sticks:

    T

Top row: (Radio Shack) Archer Deluxe Competition Joystick, Wico Command Control Joystick (5200)*, Gemini Gemstick-Pro
Bottom row: Coin Controls Inc. Competition Pro**, Championship Electronics SuperChamp (with 10' retractable cord), Wico "Famous Red Ball"

*This has a 9-pin cable, but it's meant to plug into a Y-cable for the 5200 and is not compatible with the VCS without an adapter cable.  It snuck into the photo when I wasn't looking.
**The Competition Pro is the regular one with leaf switches, not the "5000" model with microswitches.

    Last but certainly not least:

I've never seen these referred to with an Atari CX- part number, and the 2800 owner's manual doesn't seem to list one either.  If they have an official name, I'm not aware of it.  Edit: Confirmed, these are CX28 controllers.

In case anyone's interested, the Gemstick-Pro and CE SuperChamp are available for trade/sale.  They're tested and work just fine, I just don't like them as much as some of the others.

Oh NICE one, of all the ways I can play a 2600 cart this method still eludes me lol, so cool I gotta get one someday especially considering my only Intellivision is an INTV II anyways lol. That one looks very clean. Funny both Colecovision and Intellivision got expansions to play 2600 but the good old 2600 was never given ability to play Intellivision / Colecovision, yeah I know it was the less powerful console but just funny how that was. If you had an Intellivision and this add-on you would have been doing pretty damn good I think.

Either of you have a really jacked up master system or genesis gamepad?  I'll consider any offer, I'm not picky. Anything Atari , Pre Saturn Sega, SNES related, a cool game poster, an autographed picture of Larry Csonka....whatever.

And a bit more from me....I just want to state that no matter what I say about Pac Man on 2600, I hope to goodness no one feels offended in any way.  For example, AtariBrian loves the game, and I totally respect that.  It's a fun topic to talk about, but it's just a game.  Like all pieces of art, opinions may vary and it's totally acceptable.

Here is the June 1982 review of Pac Man from Electronic Games magazine.  I like to pull this out for those that think a bad opinion of the game only came much later.

I personally don't think the 2600 Pac-Man is a total loss...it's just not Pac-Man to me.  At least back then it wasn't but now I can accept it as the 2600's Pac-Man.  As I've mentioned on my blog on this site I had the 5200 so I missed out on what was going on with the 2600.  This was one game I didn't miss, however, because a neighbor down the road got it and invited me over to play it.  I already had the 5200 Pac-Man and was use to it before I laid eyes on the 2600 Pac-Man.  I have to admit I was disappointed and confused with what the 2600 received.  I guess in the back of my mind I was thinking, "If Atari could pull off Pac-Man on the 5200 why couldn't they do something better than this?"

Over 30 years later and this game is still being talked about as well as getting play time.  SO that means that Atari's Pac-Man on the 2600 is not all that bad.  Maybe they should have called it K.C. Munchkin!

And more from me (of course)....I always found it fascinating that the versions of Pac Man Atari created for other systems were all really, really good.  TI-99/4A, VIC-20, Intellivision, C64, Atari 800, 5200....those were all great.

Agree with all these sentiments.  It's a fun game, it did get a lot of playtime from me when it was new.  But the game was NOT Pac Man, and it ended up eroding confidence in the 2600 and Atari.  At the time, you could see a superior version on the computers of the day, and even the lowly O2 had a better munching game.  Atari was more interested in suing other companies than making great games, it seemed.  Pac Man made me think twice before buying any other game from Atari.  Was a VIC-20 version available instead?  If yes, I'd probably just go with that -- that was my thinking after Pac Man.  So yes, it was a good game...but ended up creating a lot of baggage for Atari IMO.

I watched the video last night.  I love pac-man on the 2600, I even love the sounds.  Maybe it's mostly nostalgia.  I also love E.T. not based on nostalgia, as a kid it was horrible to us, but that's because we didn't read the manual.  Can't wait to see the pac clone video it will be a long one I would imagine.

I never really gave 2600 Pac-Man a fair shot until about a year ago. I picked it up for 25 cents and actually played it one night on the suggestion of The Professor. It's not very faithful to the arcade game, and graphically it's not very impressive, but if you give it a chance it's a lot of fun to play. I ended up playing for an hour a night for about a week while I listened to podcasts.
