  1. ITC# 48 is available to view. It has been a while since I last released a video and that is only because I've been busy with other projects that took priority. In this video I show you in depth game play on the newly released home brew for the vectrex - Stramash Zone. It is the port of Atari's Battlezone we never got and should have. Worth noting that my camera has trouble with the vectrex and so it appears to flicker much more than it actually does. Not sure the best way to combat that as I figured shooting at 60fps (Fastest my camera can film) would help with that.

    Enjoy!

  2. I got lucky with my black JVC 32". It has the original remote and was dumped at our local Salvation Army before it left. And since they couldn't accept it I got to bring it home for free. Sounds really good, too. But I never knew switch boxes for multiple coax connections existed.

    I do actually have an old JVC 26" that I will use sometimes to connect consoles to for color adjustments. It has both composite and s-video inputs on it so it works well for that. But I also have and prefer to use my small 9" PVM I picked up 2 years ago for $20. It too has composite and s-video inputs and given its much smaller size, it is better to use for such adjustements as well. But that JVC crt is always hooked up in the other room at the ready if needed... LOL.

  3. When I was building, websites didn't exist lol ;-) but this thread fondly made me remember the 3D floating computer program that would calculate how fast your PC was in terms of 3D FPS (before dedicated video cards of that nature really existed) and last time I ran it on a more modern PC sometime early 2000 it was like 1,100 frames a second haha...

    https://www.philscomputerlab.com/dos-benchmark-pack.html

    Although according to this link, the second and last version of that benchmark made only went to 999.99... But I believe that is the one you are talking about.

    As for the 3D bird I remember one made of just dots that was overhead and was kinda like a screensaver of sorts with the occasional tree going by or something?

  4. You don't need the same exactly stuff as before. All you really need is a decent size piece of wire to solder the outer casing of each switch and then eventually solder that down to the RF ground plain somewhere. But if you really want to use foil tape like before, then you can just buy a small roll of Chrome repair tape from an autoparts store and cut it as needed. It is basically the same stuff.

  5. Well, I actually have 1 extra I was keeping for myself to use with one of my Atari computers. But after having played around this weekend with my 130xe through the built in composite, it isn't really that bad and for as little as I mess around with the atari computers, I'm sure I could hold off on putting this extra into one until a newer revision of the UAV is made available.

    What does that mean you say? Means I will likely have one UAV available. possibly another as one of the gamers who contacted me to claim it, hasn't replied to my initial estimate invoice I sent him to get the process started. Will be sure to let you know Rick if you are interested...

  6. There does appear to be some misalignment of the vectors as demonstrated with the full grid linearity test as can be seen in the upper left...Can also see some evidence of this on the Intensity test as the lower half of the intensity lines have a slight doubled looked to them starting on the bottom one and going up in a triangular pattern.

    Any work been done on this Veccy?

  7. I do have a Tandyvision Intelly and I do think it is a sexy looking Intelly! I will also mirror Rick's advise and NOT get the Intelly 2. The ONLY advantage real 3 advantages that is offers over this TandyVision or standard 2609 model Intelly is:

    Small size/form factor

    Detachable controllers (Sears video arcade has this feature as well)

    Ability to use System Changer (To play Atari 2600 games through the Intelly)

    That's it...really...

    The controllers on the Intelly 2 are stiff with hard edge lines in the design making them the most uncomfortable controllers to hold and use. As Rick also stated, the wonky power/reset combo button is a booger to use and finicky to boot!

    The Sears unit is the best Intellivision to use for day to day intellivision games. It has no compatibility issues as he stated, removable controllers, and the only other Intelly model to use the 2609 innards (totally interchangeable btw) while still looking uniquely different from the rest. (Easy to AV MOD too!)

    I also like the INTV III or Super Pro System with the black plastic matte finish and silver label and trim work. But the controller button mylar doesn't seem to be nearly as good on those last released models.

    No Sears version here either, but it is usually possible to get some decent deals on Intellivision from here as well. In fact that last one on this page has two games I don't have and wouldn't mind having. But since they require the ECS to use them, it makes me wonder if that is hidden elsewhere on the site..HMM...

  8. Would you say it's easy to do that mod to the controllers?  I have a Sears Intv, and was thinking about doing the same.  The FB controllers are nicer.  The disc works more like a d-pad.

    Getting the cable adapter is easier of course and also extends the cables in the process so that is a great way to go. I'm a cheap skate so I modded two of mine. It wasn't that difficult to be honest. Just had to crack them open and resolder the wires around. It was a good thing I did it too as one of the brand new controllers I ordered actually had two broken wires already from the crappy solder work that was done on the Intelly FB controllers.

  9. Out of curiousity, and please do PM if you rather not reveal it publically, but I'd like to know how much it cost you for all of that. I know how much the McWill kit itself is and I know how involved it is having done both a Lynx II and my 1 asic game gear. (game gear was MUCH more difficult).

  10. To be honest I think the Intellivision FB did better in sales overall as compared to the CV one. Additionally the Intellivision FB was better than the CV one in the emulation and controller department. In fact, I bought two extra FB controllers when that was available and modified them internally to work on my Sears unit because the FB controllers are more comfortable and work better than originals even though it is the exact same tech inside of them.

    But I'm in for a modern Intelly that plays the classics in HDMI with near 100% emulation and normal controllers but can also play some modern remakes of classics as well. Have to see how it plays out I guess.

  11. ITC# 47 focuses on a strange pong clone I picked received in this week. Haven't been able to find anything about it so I cover what I could figure out here. I like this clone for its looks and the fact that it has some odd quirks in the game play. Let me know if you have any additional information about this particular unit besides it being from the 70s and sold and branded by JCPenney hehe.

  12. Same similar thing happened to a large retro convention here in my home state that took place in Oklahoma City during the April timeframe. The last even they held (Only their 4th year..) a Tornado blew through the night before and while minor damage was done to the building, the event had to be cancelled for their Saturday main day show as there wasn't any power and the police had the area closed off etc. They were able to get power restored and host the event for Sunday, but by then most of the attendance they would have had, left to go back home. It was a big financial blow for them and they even had Marc Summers of Double Dare fame there to attend as a celebrity and had planned to host a mini double dare like event.

    The biggest issue with hosting events like these, is always the money aspect required to do it. I was lucky in that many times, my much smaller event usually would pay for itself. But then once much larger events cropped up in the neighboring states...etc. The interest in this area faded quickly for people wanting to attend smaller events like mine. So it was lack of interest from vendors and exhibitors along with a stagnated attendance that made me stop hosting the OVGE.

    I have thought about starting it up again but purposely manage the exhibitions in such a way that we would have stronger variety. So I would limit how many Nintendo centric type stuff would be there. Maybe limit it so that exhibitors focus their booths on just one system or something to keep duplication of what is being shown and on hand to buy at a minimum. I wouldn't mind having vintage computers, or pong clones exhibited more at such an event.

  13. I have the Mario Kart 8 stand up in that style. It was given to me for free from a local buddy of mine. He in turn had a buddy that worked for gamestop. Although on any pics of my game room I have, it is really hard to see it stuck in the corner and flanked on either side by large cases/shelves...

    Can just barely make it out in the center of this pic. And that is about all you can see of it in real life as well. When I first got it, I didn't have the larger black display case to the left of it and only had a small and thin shelf case that was only like 6 inches thick and not the 14inches of the current case.

  14. Just realized I hadn't actually posted any photos from my Intelly collection here. I haven't taken any recent ones in about 2 years, but at least these pics are still pretty representative of the games I have at least. Only things added you don't see in these pics are my LTO flash I've got now a few other loose carts like Backgammon I picked up about a month ago, and my copy of Sydney Hunter.

    Here is a pic of my boxed CIB Intelly games here. They are in the middle in this pic. There are few others as well on the next shelf down to the far left that are obscured by the Genesis shelf but you get the idea...

    Here is my loose intellivision games. They are in the lower right of this pic. If you look closely you can just make out my cib DINER there.

    This is really the only pic I have of my Intelly consoles. The Sears unit is av modded and has a normal 2609 main board in it as the original board was bad. Also not shown in this pic is that I added an amber colored power LED indicator to my Sears model. Besides that one, I also have a Tandyvision One, Intv III, and Intellivision II systems. Really...REALLY want the GTE/Sylvania model though to complete the console collection side of it.

  15. Well...if my Gameye app is to be believed and if I've got it updated...:

    Sega 32x = 20

    3DS = 25

    Arcade = 5 Cabinets, 1 cocktail (Frogger, Commando, Gyruss, DKjr, Vindicators, Galaga (cocktail))

    2600 = 313

    5200 = 61

    7800 = 55

    Colecovision = 82

    Dreamcast = 76

    Gamegear = 59

    GameCube = 51

    Sega Genesis = 348

    Intellivision = 78

    Jaguar = 21

    JagCD = 6

    Lynx = 42

    Sega Master system = 55

    N64 = 25

    NDS = 39

    NES = 56

    PC = 87 Boxed games many many more digitally

    PS2 = 81

    PS3 = 91

    PS4 = 11

    SNES = 65

    Saturn = 63

    SegaCD = 7

    TG16 = 26

    TG16 CD = 3

    Vectrex = 7

    Wii = 103

    Wii U = 20

    Total = 1990 unique games

    This list does not include my xbox and xbox 360 games as I haven't added those yet. Also missing are my TI-99, VIC-20, and Atari 8-bit carts. I have duplicates for nearly all the classic systems but have never inventoried them and keep them in a big box separately.

  16. Basically any circuit requires voltage to operate in most cases, and to get a circuit to be a circuit...you need voltage and ground for it to go to. So yes, most of these mod boards should require a ground signal going into the mod board, and then you can either use that same ground point to go out to the RCAs, or you can ground the RCAs separately to another point along the main PCB.

    If a mod board has grounds on it, I tend to use them. If it only has the one ground for it self, then I will nearly always separate the ground from the video and audio.
