DegasElite reacted to Gianna in My Universal trip this weekend!
In IL right now it is very hot too! My family there said it's been unusually hot lately 😳
I remember when I lived there and as it would start to get warmer I'd be so happy. Illinois is very gloomy the majority of the year so I was always excited once the weather started warming up and I could see the sky hehe

Yes. It sure can be. I lived in Indiana for two years, so I know. So close to Illinois.

There were two Atari XE versions: one from Atari and one exclusively from Broderbund. The Broderbund version is older and more rare.

Not at all. I don't see it as negative. It's all good.

As an Atari collector, I like the idea of variation between game systems. I have the A2600 and A7800 versions of Xenophobe, and I want to get the XE and Lynx versions as well. No one would want to get the game if it was exactly the same on all the systems. There are things that could be improved in the A2600 and A7800 versions. But, the XE version really shines, and the Lynx version has differences from the arcade, which I frown on sometimes. But, the Lynx version, with its enhancements, is the best in my opinion. Great games, and the differences in them make each version unique and worth collecting.

DegasElite got a reaction from Justin in My Universal trip this weekend!
That must have been a fun trip. I have never been any farther south in the US than Indianapolis, IN, and that was for only a day. I had lived in Indiana for two years and we were picking up somebody from Indianapolis. I have, however, been to ValleyFair. It is an amusement in the town of Shakopee, MN. I have been there three times. It has roller coasters, arcades, and water rides. They are open until October, but I am not sure what this year's status is for the park. Not too far away from ValleyFair is Canterbury Park, a horse track and casino (we call them "racinos" up here). At least, I think it is also a casino. I think that they allowed slot machines there, too, according to Minnesota state law. It has been a few years since I studied that.

Trick Shot is a cool game. It's way ahead of its time. I think that it is the first billiards game for the A2600, isn't it?

DegasElite reacted to StormSurge in Did you think Atari 2600 Pac-Man was bad when you first got it?
I received this for my 9th birthday in May, 1982. It was the one gift I REALLY wanted & I was so pumped to get it.
I didn't have a lot of arcades around and I didn't spend a lot of time at the ones near me. I played more arcade games at pizza places and bowling alleys.
I had played Pac Man & loved it and was completely engrossed in Pac Mania.
I was only 9 but I obviously realized it was not going to be arcade-accurate representation. I loved (& still do!) my Atari but I knew that it wasn't capable or giving a 100% authentic arcade experience. That didn't bother me. I loved the games that I played on it & Pac Man was no exception.

DegasElite reacted to Justin in Apple Switching from Intel
This is incredible. I'm a big proponent of RISC-based processing. This is like the good ol' days!
I think the endgame is to make iOS and macOS unified. All one ecosystem. It's what Atari would've done.
Amazing! I hope MacOS 11 comes with Breakout 🕹️
ME TOO!! This should be mandated 🇺🇸

DegasElite got a reaction from Justin in Apple Switching from Intel
Hey, guys,
It is official. Apple will be using their own SoC chips in newer Macs, starting around 2021. Intel will be used once more in Macs this year, with Mac computers updated with Core i9 CPUs. But, it is the death knell of the MacIntel. Also, the chips will be RISC-based. So, Apple will design the chips and place them in the Macs like they would the iPad and iPhone. This is the first time in 36 years that Apple has done this. I wish that they would make the chips in America, but you never know. Thanks for letting me share. :O)

Well, true. It was a European cartoon. It was a French production from Gaumont Television, IIRC. It would have been nice if it had stuff based on the actual movie, not so much the animated series.

The A7800 version is superior in practically every way, to me. I love the game. Plus, it is very entertaining. I always enjoy playing it. :O)

I will tell you, this was the case for me. I had an 800XL, and Food Fight was such a disappointment. Keep in mind that the 8-bit ports of various arcade games had always been excellent. Most consider the 8-bit version of Donkey Kong to be the best home version, for example. Food Fight was a stinker, and I disliked it. Way too choppy and not very fun. I didn't play it much at all.

7800 version for me. It's the first version I ever played too. In fact, I didn't even know this was an arcade game when I got my 7800!

DegasElite reacted to Atari 5200 Guy in LET'S COMPARE: Atari 7800 Food Fight vs Atari XEGS Food Fight
I would honestly prefer the 7800 version. However, if the XEGS was the only game console I had to play this game with then I would have been OK with it. The only version I knew of until now was the 7800 version. That one is a lot of fun. I have that one for the 7800 but not for the XE. That was on a cart for the XE, right? I hope they didn't waste a disk for that.

hi everyone, as requested, and i was about to do it, food fight comparison.
7800 version, colorful, smooth, good sounds,
XEGS version, choppy, almost like its in basic, music pretty good, but some sound effects are almost 2600 like.

DegasElite reacted to RickR in LET'S COMPARE: Atari 7800 Food Fight vs Atari XEGS Food Fight
Oh man, I never realized that Food Fight in the arcade was rare. I remember playing it and loving it. I never understood why no one made a home version (other than the really bad 8-bit Atari version). I may have mentioned before that I never even knew the 7800 existed until I started collecting as an adult.
In my mind, Food Fight is the premier game for the 7800. I also think Asteroids is right up there with it. Food Fight is very close to the arcade version (except for the smaller screen area). The 7800 version handles all that frenetic movement perfectly.
Asteroids on 7800 is a really nice upgrade to a tired classic. I love the animation of the rocks, and the addition of 2-player co-op mode is astounding.

Yes and I have since played the arcade machine. They had one at FreePlay Florida a couple of years ago.

I don't know. It is a toss-up for me. Both have their own strengths and weaknesses. I think that they are basically the same. Still, it is a great game.
