nosweargamer got a reaction from DegasElite in Would there be a market that would buy a possible Jaguar+ system?
Although I'd be game, I don't think the demand is strong enough for all it would take to make a Jaguar+. A limited run Jaguar mini at premium price is more likely, but even that seems unlikely, since it was only recently we saw Jaguar games re-released on Atari 50. Even Sega said they wouldn't do a Dreamcast mini due to the cost and perceived lack of demand, and that's a console that far outsold the Jaguar.
I think the best hope for Jaguar fans is that games continue to be included in compilations in the future, and maybe individual games eventually sold on the Atari VCS.

Hi all. Sorry for my long absence. Short story, I got busy.
Longer story, I was juggling a lot, and in many ways, still am. One thing I did a while back was basically stop using Facebook & AtariAge for the most part, just to help simplify life. Atari I/O was not the plan, is just sorta happened by accident, and that accident turned into a habit.
I'm not saying you'll see me everyday, but I may drop by from time to time and I am still a fan of the I/O.

nosweargamer got a reaction from DegasElite in I never really liked Mario 64 and I think it's because of Cybermorph
You like Cybermorph better than Super Mario 64 😮

But seriously, I can understand from your viewpoint and background. Personally, I like both, but SM64 far better (as well as SM Galaxy, a sequel of sorts), but in my case I played SM64 years before Cybermorph. First experiences can be a powerful thing, so it would've been interesting to see what your view would've been if you experienced SM64 first.

nosweargamer got a reaction from DegasElite in Genesis fans-- WHY do you think your system is better than the SNES?
Rick is right about sticking up for the system you own, but the Genesis might be my favorite system of all time. To be clear, I also like the SNES, and I agree SMW is better than Sonic 1 (Sonic 3 gives it a run for it's money). And games like Sim City and Super Metroid are great and aren't on the Genny.
But let me highlight some of the advantages of the Genesis over the SNES (and yes the SNES has advantages over the Genesis in other areas).
Genesis did it first -  The Genesis came out TWO YEARS before the SNES. In that time it was able to already build up a nice library and 3rd party support from the likes of EA. It may not matter today, but it's still amazing that despite not having the most up to date technology, the Genesis went toe to toe with the SNES.
Expandability - I owned both the Sega CD and Power Base Converter and really enjoyed being able to play both last-gen and next-gen games on my Genesis.
The Controller - I will fight anyone about this one (not really). The Sega Genesis 6 button controller is better than the SNES controller, especially with fighting games.
The Look - I simply prefer the sleek black Genesis look of the blocky gray SNES look.
Blast Processing - Blast processing is real. The Genesis ran faster than the SNES. This made games like Sonic work, but where it really shined for me, was the sport games. The Madden & NHL series are two of my favorite of all times, and they played silky smooth on the Genesis. Their SNES counterparts, not so much.
Better Games Than The SNES Counterparts - Of course this is subjective, but Aladdin, Batman & Robin, Jurassic Park, Captain America and Mickey Mouse Illusion games are typically regarded as better on the Genesis, and in general, so are sport games and shooters.
The Exclusives - This works both ways, but series like Sonic, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, and Toe Jam & Earl were only on the Genesis. Wonder Boy & Space Harrier had fun Genesis installments and the Oasis series got it's start here. Ghostbusters, Moonwalker, Quackshot, Comix Zone and Gunstar Heroes are some other Genesis exclusive worth playing.
In the end, both the SNES and Genesis are great systems with some great games. Want to play Super Metroid? Play the SNES. Want to play Revenge of Shinobi, Genesis Does. Want to play an RPG? SNES is probably best. Want to play a shooter or sport title, go with Genesis.

While on a technical level it's one of the best looking games on the system, the 3D tower effect is very cool, I simply don't care much for the gameplay itself. But hey, if someone thinks it's great, I have no problem with that. 🙂

Maybe they were friendly to each other, but I'm not sure you'd call them friends.

BTW, here's a recent quote from Steve:
“The more I thought about it from the ‘King of Kong’ days, it all seemed to make sense now,” Wiebe said. “All the things that were happening at the time… like why he didn’t come out and play me, and why he was inciting whose records were going to be authenticated and who’s were going to be dropped. ‘King of Kong’ referenced that that he was a referee and on the board of directors. When that leaked out, it started to make more sense.”

Also, because you mentioned IMDB, I looked up King of Kong to see what it said. Found some interesting stuff under Trivia:
While the movie claims that Billy Mitchell held the Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior records since 1982 before Steve Wiebe came along, there were numerous scores higher than Mitchell's validated by Twin Galaxies in the early 1980s that went missing during Mitchell's time as a scoreboard editor. His 1982 Donkey Kong score was also beaten in 2000 by Tim Sczerby, who's name is omitted from the film but seen on a computer screen for a moment when Walter Day is entering Mitchell's taped score.

To be fair, I have no idea where they got that from and it could be made up, but if it was true...wow.
Does anybody know if Mitchell ever served as scoreboard editor?

The reminds me a little of when the Patriots were accused of cheating (more than once actually). My thought was, "They're so good, they don't need to cheat, so why cheat?". I lost a lot of respect for the team after that.

I'm not claiming Billy cheated using save stats or anything of that nature, but he is so talented, there really is no excuse for any shortcuts. From what I understand, it's pretty clear that he emulated or at least used some sort of modified hardware, but passed it off as the real deal. He, out of all people, should know better.

It's been a long time since I saw it, but I recall how King of Kong passed Billy off as a guy who was a "buddy" of Walter Day and Twin Galaxies. They were portrayed like a "Good Ole Boys" group that would stick up for each other before letting a newbie in.  I realize the Billy is a real nice guy in real life according to most, and that the movie made him a villain for storyline purposes, but I can't get the scene out of my head where Steve Wiebe makes a new record in person, only for a VHS tape from Billy to be sent in to retake the crown seemingly without much scrutiny, after they would agonize over the machine Wiebe played on.

Could it be that the movie was more accurate than we thought? Could it be that TG would let people within their circle use MAME or modified hardware with a wink and a nod, passing it off as legit?

IMHO, Billy Mitchell is a top notch player, who didn't need to do what he did and the fact that he hid this secret for so long, shows a certain lack of integrity.
