RickR is the best! The most honest and trustworthy guy you'll find. He is the guy you need to talk to for 5200 controller repairs! I consider him a friend and Atari I.O made it happen!

I saw this online today and it was too hard not to post here. Balki Bartokomous and Cousin Larry of "Perfect Strangers" reunited for the first time in 25 years! Who remembers Balki and Cousin Larry? "Perfect Strangers" debuted in 1986 and was the first show on ABC's Friday Night TGIF lineup. It would also serve as the basis for a spinoff show, "Family Matters" better known to some as Urkel. The show was akin to a Yakov Smirnoff act or a proto-Borat, with Balki leaving his Eastern European / Mediterranean island of Mepos for a new life in Chicago, where he shows up unexpectedly one day at the door of Cousin Larry, and the two eventually end up working at the Chicago Chronicle.

It’s rare that a Sonic fan game gets fully released. Many are often cancelled or often stay in development hell after releasing one or two demos. But for once one of those games managed to get out of said development hell and be released as a full fledged game.   Sonic Time Twisted, created by Overbound Game Studio, has finally been released after being twelve years in development. The fan game features 28 acts across 8 zones, time travel, new special stages, and a soundtrack that’s headed up by Hinchy.   The full game can be downloaded on Overbound’s site, and the soundtrack can be found here. You can also find the game’s previous demo releases on our wiki.   Download  http://Download Sonic Time Twisted 1.0

Hey guys! Just thought I'd drop in and say hi. I'm on lunch break right now not doing anything. I've been extremely busy working and that's pretty much it. It's been hectic. 12 to 14 hour days. Almost on a daily basis. There are signs of it slowing down. I hope so. I'm burnt out. I'll try to pop in a bit more like I used to in the past!

That's a hell of a deal! Smart choice also. Despite what the haters say, the 5200 is a wonderful machine!

Cheers to Scott Stilphen!! I just received 10 Atari 2600 carts from him. They all play and look EXACTLY as he described them. I'm looking forward to buying more from him! Great prices, fast shipping and an all around great guy. Thanks bud!

Yo Rick! I ordered one of these a few days ago, looks very cool for NES and hopefully some Master System games. I finally figured this Sega Portable out today. I put about 100 roms on it today and they play great!! Sound is a bit weak but not terrible, the graphics are near perfect, highly recommended.

This is sadly the likely the reasoning.    All I can say is Nintendo continues to earn its spot in dead last place in the gaming industry.

Speculation:  Maybe they're making a newer version -- one with more games included.

More likely - Maybe they just felt they were hurting their own Switch sales -- competing against themselves.

When asked about why they are no longer making the NES Classic, Nintendo said:

    "We don't like money"

Actually, I will be the lone wolf and say that there may be more to this story than we understand. While it's possible Nintendo created a scarcity on purpose, it's also possible the Nintendo vastly underestimated the demand there would be. Remember, both the Wii U and 3DS failed to meet sales expectations when they launched and the plug n play market had been shrinking when this was released.

Also, it doesn't make sense why they would stop making this unless:
    1) It was not making the profit we think
    or
    2) The licensing deals with some of the 3rd party games were about to end.

I saw that and just had to shake my head.  So they intentionally created scarcity of this system.

Who wants to play retro handheld games on their TV?

Well, now you can with the Mattel Classic Sports 3-in-1 plug and play!  Baseball, football, and basketball -- the LED versions right on your bigscreen!  Have fun, kids, and stop scratching your heads.

I have one that's been collecting dust since my move (I use the 3DS the most)

But I do like it and have a fair size collection of both games and movies. And just like Rick, I oddly enjoy watching movies on it. I even watched the first seasons of Sanford and Son and Good Times on it. And there are some great retro compilations for it. The only complaints I have is that I've had several UMD cases split open and the battery life stinks as I've already had to replace a couple. Of course, it may be partly due to the fact that I've had to relay on generics, since Sony no longer makes batteries for it.

Also, I now consider the PSP retro

I have had 5 different PSPs over my life (sadly i dont have one now) i LOVE the system. Easy to mod. Great list of games. You can more with it than the DS (add music and movies for starters)

Here's my small collection so far.  It's mostly movies, which I'm enjoying immensely for some odd reason.  It all started when we lost power for several hours during a wind storm last week.

I have a few games, but I'm waiting for a memory card to arrive from China before I really get into those, but they look/sound great to me.

Seems like a really good system to collect for right now.  Systems and games are both plentiful and pretty inexpensive.

    And wait...there's more:

I loaded about a dozen SMD files for Genesis and they ALL work fine except for Double Dragon.

I also loaded a few SNES ROMS, and guess what?  They work too!  SNES is a little bit choppy.  But still....very cool.

A special update just for Greenween.

I tried the Genesis emulation.  SMD = Sega Mega Drive (duh).  So it should work.  I put 2 SMD files on the unit.  Altered Beast worked great.  Double Dragon did not work.  So with that limited sample, I'd say it's going to be hit and miss.  Still, Altered Beast worked perfectly for my standards.  It's possible my SMD file for Double Dragon is just bad.  I'll try more as time permits.

I say for $26, the NES, GBA, and Genesis capabilities of this item are a great bargain -- even if there are some games that end up not working.  Also of note is that the screen is really bright and nice.
