I would love to see more get involved this year!

My wish list is simple.  Anything from my INTV wish list posted here in the forums.

Happy Holidays! It's time for our 2nd Annual Atari I/O Secret Santa! If you'd like to be part of Secret Santa this year, please post a message below saying that you'd like to participate. If you can, include a link to your Want List in your post, or a list of game systems you collect for. The last day to sign up is Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Names will be assigned impartially by our Moderating team, and we will send you a PM with your Secret Santa information no later than Friday, November 18, 2016.

We love classic video games and retro life, and as such gift items can be used or refurbished so long as they meet the criteria of costing you around $30.

Your Secret Santa package can be made up of more than one gift, so long as their total value is around $30 and so long as you've put together a gift package that you feel would be magical and special. (Please don't send a box of "junk")

It's preferable that the presents you send are gift wrapped. We really want this to feel like something special. However, it would be okay to send an item without gift wrapping if you were ordering from an Atari vendor, Amazon or eBay and wanted to have it shipped directly to your person's house as opposed to paying twice for shipping. We would encourage you to gift wrap your presents when possible.

If you're unable to participate in Secret Santa this year, please think about donating to a deserving charity of your choice. One charity to consider is the Oregon Food Bank, which RickR brought to our attention last year. You can visit them online at www.oregonfoodbank.org

If you would like to participate, you must sign up by Tuesday, November 15, 2016

    Happy Holidays to All!

Yes, that is correct. The gift should cost more than $20 and less than $30. This is a total figure, not including the price of shipping. If you want to do three gifts at around $10 each, or one large gift at around $30, that works fine. Being that this is all about classic games and toys, it's okay if the item is used so long as it's something you think would be really special to the person you're sending it to.

Not a dumb question at all! It's important to clarify this stuff and get it all out in the open.

Man o man that looks almost like it came from the factory that way! That bezel artwork looks right for the period too. You can tell so much detail went into this. I wonder if he will make more or if he'll publish tutorial materials.

Steak and Shake is one of my favorites. When I was a kid I worked at a movie theater that had a Steak and Shake outside next to the parking lot. A few times a week I'd walk over there with my friends and get food. It was always fresh and better than McDonald's and their milkshakes were worth every calorie.

Atari 5200 (4 port, lowest currently known serial number)
Atari 5200 (4 port, my original from growing up)
    Atari 7800 (w/ useless expansion port! )
    Atari Lynx I (currently non-functional)
    Atari Touch Me (currently non-functional)
    Atari CC91G ExecuCard calculator
    Atari CC192 calculator

    GCE Vectrex
    Nintendo DS Lite
    Sony PS3 (Slim)

I do the majority of my gaming these days on my PC.  I have a still-working Macintosh LC in storage.  We plan to pick up a PS4 in the near future.

My largest collection of games is for the VCS, by far.  My most complete library (not counting multi-carts, of course) is for the 5200, though -- currently two carts away from complete!

Gorgeous design on that hylian beauty.

The only downside is the required standing or stool-sitting for those extended (and extensive) hours of gameplay on the titles.

I can only remember feeling sad at having to go to bed after a minimum of 3-4 hours of evening gameplay on the original.
Never felt "Whew, that was fun. Oh well, better get some sleep now"
Always more like "Curse this human body!"

I thought so too! I have a Donkey Kong Jr. arcade cabinet in storage that's in not-so-great shape. I'm tempted to remake it into a Zelda arcade machine now.

Nintendo may have abandoned the arcade scene the moment that NES thing started to take off, but that hasn't stopped some fans over the years from developing their own arcade versions of some of Nintendo's greatest games.

Among them, few are as impressive as this custom Legend of Zelda cabinet:

Made by a fan known as Wyo on the Arcade Museum forums, this cabinet is actually just an elaborate housing for an NES running the game to a 20" CRT screen. The devil, however, is in the design details that Wyo describes via a post on Arcade Museum.

"Basically, it’s an all wood construction," says the creator. "Primered and block sanded smooth and straight. I painted it with metallic gold automotive urethane, and then added a mid coat of .008 gold flake. After I cleared it, I wetsanded it 1000-3000 and then polished it. It turned out pretty cool."

Starting a thread here after a discussion started in a "Hello!" post....

I'm assuming we have a ton of fans here of the show.  Question is....old version, new...or both?

I fall in the "Both" camp.

The original was great...but you can just feel the interference of the network -- kind of souring the experience.  "Add a kid!", "not too bloody", etc.  And the budget always seemed to be in question.  Re-used shots for example.  Hokey effects, another.  And finally, the almost complete reboot for season 2.  Give me a break!  Still, absolutely loved it at the time, and I think it's very watchable still.

The reboot is awesome.  You can tell they had a vision and had no compromises.  I LOVE the quiet space effects.  Great effects, great writing, great acting all around.  This show is spectacular.

    What do you all think?
