  1. Oh great! What's new is here (looks substantial): https://vice-emu.sourceforge.io/NEWS Thank you for sharing.
  2. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Here is my retro-gaming loot for this year.  Good stuff!

  3. Well I'd say you are the perfect candidate to try a smart watch, as adding apps is what they do. No CRT monitor required. I'm wearing that "new-to-me" Fitbit today, and I've added a fancy clock app, and weather app. I'm not sure what else to do. It's keeping track of my steps and heart rate, which is nice. I'll have to see how long the battery lasts before it needs a charge. It says it also tracks your sleep quality.
  4. That thing is NICE! This one here is the one I wear most often...Casio Wave Ceptor -- it grabs the time from the atomic clock signals. Honestly, nothing is better than this and the one you have.
  5. Ironic. Today from the same "Buy nothing" group, I received a broken high-end Fitbit SmartWatch 🙂 I was able to repair it and will give it a try.
  6. I gotta tell you, I'm quite proud of these Christmas cards I made for my nieces.

Yeah, inkjets clog, drain your bank account with expensive ink, almost the same price/weight as gold... a huge rip-off (IMHO).  If you don't use them all the time the ink can dry in the lines and ruin the printer.  I went though quite literally a dozen inkjet printers before I got smart and bought a laser printer.  I've had the same printer now for four or five years and it's still going strong.

I agree with you, but this printer we have has been rock solid.  I just printed photographs on photographic paper earlier this week with no issues.  It's just this print that went bad, and like I said, I'm not too worried.

My wife prints A LOT for her work, so this thing stays busy.  Probably just a slightly clogged head or bad blue cartridge.

  7. Another non-video-game related item. I used to collect watches. It was one of those things that you end up with more than you could ever really use. So I decided to focus more on "automatic" vintage watches (no batteries or winding necessary). I've got about 5 of those and again, decided that was enough and stopped collecting decades ago. This watch came to be via a "Buy nothing" group. It was old, dirty, and broken. I cleaned it up, lubed it, added a new battery and band, and now it works great. Pulsar with day and date and also iridescent hands. It isn't an automatic, but I still like it. Mostly because it needed to be rescued. I understand the appeal of the modern "smart" watch, but it's one of those things that's not for me. I like the vintage analog stuff best.
  8. You too! Let us know how this turns out.
  9. Imagine if Atari hadn't cratered and was not available for Jack Tramiel to "buy". Would he have simply faded away at that point? It's just so fascinating how things work out. If Ray Kassar wasn't so Ray Kassar-ey and had foreseen what was coming....treated the Amiga team better with more funding...went through with the NES distribution...released the 7800 with more gusto...pushed for a better 2600 Pac-Man...had given David Crane what he wanted.... I guess I'm going too far down the rabbit hole.
  10. Most of the cons you list are due to his focus on hardware and dismissal of software IMO. We should give him his due for pushing and getting some truly innovative hardware.
  11. I voted "hurt", and here's why. I rewind the clock a bit more. When Jack was with Commodore, he trashed the home computer market by creating a price war. The race to the bottom pretty much drove everyone out of business (including Commodore!) Video game console makers were just collateral damage. Who was going to buy a video game system when the computers at the time were cheaper, had better games, and had free games (via piracy)? He wasn't trustworthy. He wasn't honest. Making a deal with him was always one-sided and poison. People like him are wrecking-balls of life.
  12. Another Christmas surprise!  I got a really nice lot of Colecovision loot from the Colecovision Lunatics Facebook group.  Magnets, stickers, etc.  It's a good group to follow if you love Coleco stuff.

  13. what were the voltages coming out of the 7805 voltage regulator? That is always the first thing to fail.
  14. If it can run files from a USB memory stick, this is a MUST buy. I am going to research this feature.
  15. Very cute! Have a very happy Christmas! Live long and prosper. And also have a wonderful time with your family. They must be so happy to have you there this year.
  16. Here's mine: The doc from Voyager, an Atari joystick, and Don Knotts.
  17. We've all got favorites. Post pics here.
  18. I can do better. I totally got psyched being in first place at the "Last Lap" declaration. Lost my concentration and crashed into one of those slow poke helmet deals.
  19. I'd probably go with one of the early Apple Mac machines and some modern solution for storage. But to be honest, the ideal "money is no object" scenario for me is to simply stop working and enjoy the stuff I have more. Don't get me wrong, I love my work and the people I work with. But I'm so looking forward to retiring for this exact reason. 10 more years is my goal.....
  20. This is absolutely ridiculous and I'm a little ashamed....but I play "Spider Solitaire" once per day. Usually right after lunch. It takes about 5 minutes and it gets my mind moving a bit. Please don't ban me.
  21. And they fit on the side buttons too?
  22. And finally, here are the gifts that Willie got for me. Willie, I am so grateful. THANK YOU. A beautiful boxed copy of Pete Rose Baseball for 2600. Lock n Chase for the Colecovision! I'll bet this is the copy you used in your review! I'm going to keep it forever. I love the ArcadeUSA channel so much. A hilarious door hanger. Oh my! THANK YOU, @Willie!. And thank you Atari.io, @Justin, and this great community.
  23. Before I post the nice gifts that Willie got for me, I want to share that I also made a charity donation as part of this year's Secret Santa program. Whether you participated or not, won't you please join me in this? We can do some good in this world together. I normally donate to Oregon Food Bank. But this year, I decided to help out with all the devastation caused by tornadoes in the central USA. As an added bonus, my employer DOUBLE-matched donations to that cause. Red Cross of America was my choice.
  24. OK, I jumped the gun and opened mine today. My Secret Santa was @Willie!, and his package arrived a week ago. He did a wonderful job! Here is the packaging and the contents were in a beautiful festive box.
