  1. An opinion from someone you know and trust is worth a LOT! I would agree that the power of the machine has no bearing, so long as the content and ease-of-use are good. I'll keep my eye out for one, although I have no idea what the costs are. Thanks!
  2. This looks like a huge improvement over the SMB Game & Watch from last year (which was pretty awesome) because it includes 4 games. Wow! I definitely want one of these.
  3. I got nothing. The only PC programs I've used for TI is emulators. None of which was very satisfying. I should probably try again, as it's been a while.
  4. Hey, I may sell mine (as well as Conquest of the World). If your dad is interested, make me an offer. I'd love to see it go to someone who will enjoy it.
  5. It's a quick summary of the history of the 99/4A and it's impact on the marketplace. The most fascinating part for me is the mention of another cause of the great video game crash of 83, one that rarely gets mentioned: "the Commodore/Atari/TI home computer price war destroyed the sub-$1,000 home computer market and tanked the video game industry with it," https://www.howtogeek.com/731558/a-successful-failure-the-ti-994a-turns-40/
  6. Quest for the Rings has my favorite retro box-art of all time. The box, the board, the packaging is an A+ IMO. But the game? Ugh. I'm sorry to say it's just a mess to me. I appreciate the effort, but I think they got way over their skis on this one. Magnavox made a total of three of these big-box board games. All of them are highly collectible.
  7. Most Imagic games were pretty spectacular back then. With the cool silver boxes and always great graphics. This game was special because of the two different "screens". Yes, both screens were pretty simplistic. But it didn't matter, once you played, you got hooked. It's got the great ramp-up of difficulty.
  8. I had forgotten about those dedicated desktop chess machines. Those were cool, and I'll bet they're pretty collectible now. Probably pretty hard to find, though.
  9. Yes, whoops. I didn't realize Front Line had already been done. I think you get the point. Front Line is one of those games that doesn't emulate well because of the dial controller.
  10. I figure those interested in this thread will be interested in this FREE game (well, it's free for only the next day or so, so please hurry and grab it). https://www.humblebundle.com/store/surviving-mars-deluxe-edition-free-game?utm_content=xpromo_banner&mcID=102:60c39caf91ccf73fc66d4ff2:ot:56c3e3df733462ca8941e9a6:1&linkID=60c39d7c2dd8a6066a11b2fb&utm_campaign=2021_06_11_outinopenworld_bundle&utm_source=Humble%2BBundle%2BNewsletter&utm_medium=email
  11. That is a great episode! You can tell they're ad libbing a lot.
  12. It does work, and there are advantages. They finally did add in shipping discounts, which is nice. But the fees are still too high.
  13. It's a great game. For me, I never knew it existed until I found one at a retro gaming show. At that moment, it felt like being back in the 80's again....a game that was completely new to me! So it holds some nice memories. Next one is Sega.
  14. I really loved that game, but it sure did cheese off a few of my friends back then. Weird, right? Whatevs. Atari:
  15. It isn't game related, but I have an important life event happening this weekend:  son #2 college graduation!  WAHOO!
