    3DS Help

I like your lunch box better since red is my favorite color. However, I'm not sure I could take Mario giving me that judgmental look all the time. Mine contains my GBA, DS, and 3DS (with chargers). It feels like the perfect match for those.

    3DS Help

I think mine is similar. Will these pictures help?
  3. I also do not have a Switch. Should I?

    Your first car

I've got a story on a similar truck. We had a very good family friend who drove a very well-used 70's Datsun pickup (it was orange). Sadly, the man died. Before I knew it, his daughter had sold the truck! I wasn't mad or anything, I just wish I'd known that she was going to sell it as I would have bought it. Just to have a small reminder of our friend.

    Your first car

I completely understand. My wife and I just went through the process of replacing a car, and we went back and forth between new and used. In the end, I decided we should set a dollar limit for used cars. We will NEVER spend more than $XX on a used car. So we ended up with a new car, and it was actually the exact same price as the used model we were considering. With an adult perspective, I think your dad and uncle picked a really nice car for you. It's safe, and it would have been hard to get into too much trouble in that Volvo.

Oh my! Did it fall off while driving? Or you came out one morning and the wheel had fallen off?
  7. I've got an update regarding "Harry's" razors. My son got me a new handle and 5 blades as a gift, and I've been using them for the past several weeks. Here's what I think. Pros: The blades are outstanding. I haven't had any cuts or knicks with these blades. They also create a very close shave. A+. The rubberized handle is really nice. I like it a lot better than the older metal one I have. Cons: Due to the size of the "border" around the blades, it's hard to get the spots under your nose, or to be precise on your sideburns. The hinges are too weak. I'm a cheap SOB, and I like the blades to last as long as possible. With Harry's, the hinges wear out before the blades are dull! I get about a week of use. Way too short. To summarize - Harry's are good. But I prefer the Costco/Kirkland blades because they last longer and allow more precision.
  8. Family Feud hosts I remember between Dawson and Harvey: Louie Anderson (terrible and really kind of sad to know how his life ended) Mr. Peterman from Seinfeld (terrible -- he just played it as the Peterman character). Al from Home Improvement (Zzzzz)
  9. I remember Jeopardy when I was a kid without Alex Trebek. It was another guy. I will have to go look it up. It was just as good IMO. Alex Trebek has become so familiar and comforting to see after doing it for so many years. Here's another good one -- "The People's Court". It was so awesome with Judge Joe Wapner. Then it went through a bunch of saps after that that were never as good. Judge Judy stole the format and dominated it. So maybe this one proves it's the host. Definitely the host.
  10. The weird part is that they will run new Jeopardy episodes with Alex Trebek through December. To answer your question -- it's a combination. Some shows, for example Bob Barker on Price is Right, seem so timeless. You can watch them now on rerun and be just as charmed as you were in 1977. Other shows we remember fondly, for example Gene Rayburn on Match Game, seem terribly dated and "what were we thinking?-esque". Jeopardy seems to have thousands of episodes -- couldn't they just run reruns for the next 10 years? Who would know the difference? I guess we'll just have to wait and see what comes of it. Who they pick for the next host, what changes do they make to the set or format, etc. "Wheel of Fortune" had that situation earlier this year where Pat Sajak was in the hospital so Vanna White took over hosting. I thought she did great and the show seemed the same. My wife, though, thought Vanna didn't quite fit the role and didn't like it.
  11. The purpose is ridiculous humor 😁😁
  12. Here we go, guys. For those of us who have moved on to DVD's.
  13. The 7800 is put away because it's RF only (my 2600jr has a composite mod) and the games emulate perfectly. The "RickR Gaming Credenza" is space-efficient, and trying to wire in a new system would cause major cursing of the four-letter variety. In another post, I think I posted pics of the XBOX coming out for some action. That took some doing. But I really needed to consolidate the collection into one box. So that got done. I've really had the itch to get the PS1 out. That one I have a little flip up screen for.
  14. It would have made a hilarious trailer to the review! I think they did a really nice job on Frogger. It's always interesting to see the compromises made to get a game onto a particular system. It was a wise move to split the game into two separate screens. Looks like the gameplay is all there. I'd love to fire up my O2 to play along with some of these. But my upstairs game room (which contains access to the attic) has been taken over by son #2 doing on-line college. To play any stored system, I have to drag it all the way downstairs into the garage and play there. Sadly, it's COLD out there now. Ah, the sacrifices of COVID. It's the same for 5200, 7800, Intellivision, etc.
  15. Welcome, Zach! I played a ton of Doom back in the day. It's one of those games that is best on the PC due to the superior controls of mouse/keyboard. I like to see and play the various console versions (PS1 is my favorite), but for me, if I really want to play all the way through...PC. Stick around and keep on entering those nosweargamer giveaways. -RR
  16. I think the right cart is "David's Midnight Magic" for XE I think you're right about Berzerk, also for the XE. That one was never officially released, so that must be a custom special. NICE stuff!
  17. Nice stuff! What are the two loose carts?
  18. Let me wrap my head around that...
  19. You bring up a really good point: VHS movies are super inexpensive. Our local library sells them for 25 cents with a huge variety to choose from. I haven't looked at the cost at Goodwill, but I'll bet they're $1 or less. I inherited a lot of them from my father-in-law when he passed. A lot of what he had still have cellophane wrap -- never opened! I've still got a few left that way, but I will get around to watching them.
  20. The box is at @Willie!'s place now. @Atari Creep, I will PM you to make sure Willie has your address. You're next!
  21. I tried the game on the XBOX "Taito Legends" disk, and I can assure you, it's the same ROM as the arcade. Play this version if you have it as an option! Constable RickR says it's legal and valid. New high score for me: 6100. I'm really bad at this one. I'm hoping one of you will post a video of your gameplay to give a lousy player like me some hints.
  22. A quick set of pics of the old VCR and the VHS tapes we still have. I purged a while ago and limited myself to this one file cabinet drawer only.
  23. Yes! Bend, OR is kind of a vacation/resort area. I've been to that Blockbuster once several years ago. It's fascinating that it's the last one. Of all places.
  24. Atari.io as confessional.  Forgive me for I have sinned.  Yesterday, I "sniped" an ebay auction.  I did it for two reasons:

    1. I knew I'd forget.  This auction ended during work hours.  No matter how much I would tell myself "check e-bay at 4pm", I knew I'd forget.  Indeed, when I got notice that I'd won, I was totally surprised.  I DID forget.
    2. How many of this particular item did I lose in the past?  Probably two dozen by the minimum amount over my max bid.

Anyway, I won't do it often, but I can't say I'll never snipe again.

I thought sniping was coming in at the last minute to put in a winning bid. How do you snipe an auction if you forgot to check in when it was ending, Rick? 🤔

There are automated tools that will bid at the last second.

      😮 totally forgot about those

  25. My personal feeling....I know it sounds really stupid....but the original Atari and many of the old arcade games were "right handed". You'd hold the joystick in your right hand and push buttons with your left. I even remember gamepads on the PC that were right handed (the pad was on the right). But it must have been the NES that set the modern standard of gamepad on the left. It has never felt comfortable to me, although I have gotten used to it.
