  1. Are they all "original" games? Or are there some emulated classics in there too? I like these kinds of systems myself. Reminds me of the plug and plays that are good for some quick entertainment.
  2. Happy Holidays, my fellow Atari enjoyers.

    A couple of 2600 games.

I bought this lot for the top 2 (which I don't have) The bottom 3 are available for sale/trade if anyone needs them.
  5. No Ewoks, gungans, terrible child actors, or emphasis on CGI. Episodes 1-3 are looking even worse than before -- I didn't think that would be possible. Smart and believable story line. I'll say it again, I loved it.
  6. Spoilers allowed. Be warned I just saw the movie, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm dying to know what you all thought. I loved how they set up the story for "A New Hope". I loved K2. I loved the acting. I loved the use of old footage (how the F did they do that with Tarkin?) I loved that they had the nuts to end it the way they did. Vader at the end...chills. And the very end.....extra double chills. WOW. Disney can milk this cow for as long as they want...if they keep the quality this high, we are all in for years of treats.
  7. PS - Emulation notes -- For C64, I use "VICE", which is really really really good. It emulates all of the Commodore machines, automatically fast-loads and types the load command, has a quick button press to switch joysticks. Just an excellent emulator. For Atari, I use MESS, which I really like, but it's kind of a pain to set up. Altirra is also good. (My real machines are put away -- grandmas is using our extra room during the holidays).
  8. OK, and just as I remember it...the Atari version is HORRIBLE. The parallax scrolling is gone. Blood when you die is gone. The aiming is even harder. And the music is....well....at least they kind of tried,
  9. OK, I just tried the C64 version, and Rowsdower70 is right on. The music is incredible. Graphics are pretty unique. It's really hard to aim...but also makes you want to come back again to try to master it. I made it to the frog level. I'll try the Atari version next.
  10. I found the manual here: http://www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Commodore_64/manual/Formated/Forbidden_Forest_-_1983_-_Cosmi_Corporation.pdf I'm going to need it.
  11. Welcome Space Invader/Mike! Great intro story! :thumb: I think we can all agree that Justin is a great guy. There's some really cool background info about this site that I very much enjoyed reading in your intro. Thank you!
  12. My earliest 5200 memory is one of my friends getting one. I'd go to his house, and we'd play RealSports Football. It was a kick -- so many plays to choose from. The controllers were a little different, but definitely Atari.
  13. I remember trying it for Atari, but it isn't as good. I'll have to try it again though just to make sure.
  14. I love this game. I'm gonna try a game tonight.
  15. This 7800 version is really great. Initially, I wasn't a big fan. Everything is "bigger/chunkier" than the arcade version. And I hate the lined border around the screen. But then I got addicted playing for this contest. The 7800 was built for this game. Things get really fast. There's not a trace of flicker. Super tight controls. I now love it.
  16. RickR tips - (heavily borrowed from Dauber) Making a tunnel in the center really works. Keep it cleaned up as best you can. Once the centipedes make it near the bottom, abandon the tunnel and chase and shoot. Spider can't seem to get you initially if you are in the center and on the bottom. So while you are tunnelling...stay center high. As soon as you hear the spider sound, go center/bottom. The points rack up quickly once you reach 50k.
  17. 81829. I switched to a TAC-2 joystick, which I'm a little torn about. The button on the TAC-2 is so much easier on my hand and thumb. But the joystick isn't as tight as the Slik Stik. Still, the higher score....I think I like the TAC-2 best. One more note, there is a person on Facebook that wants to trade a TAC-2 for a Video Game Brain. What do you guys think? Good trade? That's why I got the TAC-2 out...to make sure it worked well for a trade.
  18. Star Trek ornaments. They have really cool sounds too.
  19. Aha! I think it was kind of a chore to get a proper sound board and get joysticks connected. Also, the joysticks were analog. Maybe that's part of it. No cartridges. You need a floppy drive. Do they work with TV's? I think a monitor is needed. I think we are circling our answer...I think it may be a painful thing to collect.
  20. Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf (which has no fighting!) and a pretty nice digital camera (that came with a 2 GB memory card and a case). 10 megapixel. Now I can take Centipede high score pics that aren't so blurry!
  21. Back in the 80's, they were very popular. Lots of people and schools had them. Apple II computers....whether they were the II, II+, IIe, IIc models. But why are they so scarce now? I've been hoping to find one to buy for many years, but I've rarely ever seen one for sale. Why??? Is it because they were so large? Were they fragile -- and thus broken and thrown away? Where did they all go?
  22. Thank you for hosting. I'm in too. But please put me near the end of the list. I have a few work trips in January.
  23. I'm up to 285 2600 carts. I think 12 year old me would have been king of the neighborhood back in the day with this collection.
