  1. The sticker is there to cover the window. These things are erased using UV light. The sticker prevents whats on there from being erased.
  2. Well this is interesting. I don't own Kindercomp....but I own a couple of other Spinnaker carts. I actually have TWO copies of Alphabet Zoo, and they have two different shell types! (PS - one of these is now for sale/trade in my store). Note the grip strips on the back of the top row. I also included MasterType, which is a different company completely, yet uses the same cart shell as one of the Spinnaker games. None of mine has a loose label, so I can't open them up too see if an EEPROM is present. My best guess is that some of the minor 3rd party software houses farmed out the manufacture of their carts to whoever was cheapest, and that could change over a production run. That EEPROM board you found may just be a prototype/proof for a new cart production run. They didn't waste anything...just throw that test cart into the run....
  3. Yes. I'll post pics a little later. I think I have several "Spinnaker" games for the Atari 8-bit. Hopefully one has a loose label so I can open it up.
  4. It is definitely a common game, available for many of the 8-bit computers of the time. I have it for both Atari and C64. But it sure seems like the EEPROM is uncommon. It would be a pretty costly/time consuming way to make cartridges commercially.
  5. It does look like a normal Kindercomp shell (with the label missing). I will see if I can open mine up without damaging the label and see if it also has an EEPROM.
  6. I entered the test system. Looks good to me. The only suggestion I would make is to allow one entry per person...so instead of one entry for Facebook, one for Twitter, and one for answering a question....just make it an "OR" condition.
  7. I found this excellent article that outlines all the changes made to "A New Hope" over the years in two great videos. The article: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-wars-watch-all-changes-a-new-hope-years-955675?facebook_20161213 And the two videos:
  8. Yes, your controller is allowed. And you can use whatever screen size or stretching you like. Welcome to the competition and good luck!
  9. I've been meaning to start watching since it first aired...but sadly have not. For a couple of reasons: 1. My wife will not watch with me (she hates gore). 2. Zombie genre seems so tired to me. One of these days, if I get some spare time, I'll give this show a shot though.
  10. It isn't hard if you like to figure stuff out. There are images you load onto an SD card that will boot right up. The trouble comes in getting your ROM images on the device (use an FTP client), and in getting your controller set up (for both the menus and the emulators you choose). If this is all done for you with the device above...it's definitely worth the $50. The other issue is getting the right version of ROM files. For example, the version of MAME may require a very specific rom set version. And that can be painful.
  11. That was fun! What kind of snow tires do you all use? Studded? Looked like no slipping at all.
  12. 54376 I've been trying Dauber's tips, and look, I improved a little. Thanks Dauber!
  13. I like Food Fight a lot. It's one of the few home versions of the game, and it's actually very well done on the 7800. The little animation of the boy's head/mouth stretching at the end of each level is pretty funny. Plus...throwing food all over the place. It's fast, has no flicker, and is pretty challenging.
  14. That thing between the computer and boom box was an external CD-ROM drive. It was so slow! It ended up being used in my audio system after "King's Quest 5" and "Rebel Assault" made it go crying home to mama. Just way too slow to do those two games. I think this PC was a 386-sx.
  15. I think I've posted this pic before...but here's the very computer I used for Doom...from 1991. I had the sound card hooked up to a boom box, and it cranked! And that wall behind is the adjoining wall to to my neighbor's house! CRANK IT UP!
  16. Do we have any other fans of the PS1 version of Doom? I think that version is just about awesome.
  17. No problemo....try the advanced setting and post a pic of your best score!
  18. Looks to me like they put this together with MTV, who probably came up with the crazy bread theme.
  19. No music, but crank the game sound WAY UP. Doom had such great sounds. Back in the day, I lived in a duplex, and my neighbors would get pretty upset when I was playing Doom (PC version though)! Sorry, neighborinos.
  20. I'm just glad he wasn't disappointed that there wasn't a vacuum cleaner.
  21. No, I do too. It just aches from holding it down after a while. The tiny button on the Slik Stick probably doesn't help.
