RickR got a reaction from Cousin Mike in Atari I/O Secret Santa 2016!
Got my secret Santa gifts from Rowsdower70! What do you think...should I open them now?
Without even opening, I will say thanks very much! It's very exciting!

RickR got a reaction from Atari Creep in Doooooooooooooom!
I think I've posted this pic before...but here's the very computer I used for Doom...from 1991. I had the sound card hooked up to a boom box, and it cranked! And that wall behind is the adjoining wall to to my neighbor's house! CRANK IT UP!

RickR got a reaction from nosweargamer in NSG's Atari 7800 Prototype Mega Thread!
ROF would have been a great addition to the 7800 library. This was one of my favorite games on Atari 8-bit, and I was just playing it the other night. The "surprise" in the game is so cool, and it by itself makes the game worthwhile. There is suspense every single time you stop to rescue a pilot.

I found this excellent article that outlines all the changes made to "A New Hope" over the years in two great videos.

I like it a lot. But it's very much a Mike Judge show. If you like King of the Hill, Beavis & Butthead, etc, you'll like this too. And TJ Miller is really hilarious in this show.

RickR got a reaction from Atari 5200 Guy in Atari Video System X
I'll find that EG article later. But you are correct. We all anticipated something truly awesome from Atari back then. Failure was unimaginable.

RickR got a reaction from Atari 5200 Guy in Atari Video System X
Just watching the Video System X video here:

So Justin, do you actually have that prototype? How absolutely cool! I remember reading about the "Video System X" right after the show in Electronic Games magazine. Exciting times!

RickR got a reaction from Atari 5200 Guy in Did You Call The Atari 1-900 Phone Number?
Looks to me like they put this together with MTV, who probably came up with the crazy bread theme.

Visited a retro game store today, and they were having a Buy one/get one free sale, so I got all this for the low, low price of $19.85.
StarTropics, Time Lord, Space War, Quackshot, and Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past.

Rescue on Fractalus
Publisher: Atari
Year: 1984
Based on: 1984 Lucasfilm Games Computer Game
Amount Completed: Not much. You can fly around in a small space, several instruments run through testing pattern, no objects to pick up or fight and no sound.
Reason for Cancellation: Believed to be cost reasons. The game required an extra RAM chip.

RickR reacted to Ballblaɀer in Show Off Your Successful Trades!
From NSG:
A couple of VCS Activision manuals I needed, plus Xenophobe! Love this game. This brings my 7800 collection to 18 games -- it was at ZERO before I joined the forums! This is all your fault...

The newest version is spectacular. It's really challenging. Graphics are great. Speech synthesis is great. Just an absolute blast to play.
Here's some pics of my setup. I use the old laptop as a file server for an SIO2PC cable.
