The 20th ClubVCS challenge is live now! For this challenge we're continuing our celebration of homebrew on the Atari VCS by playing DARE DEVIL by Muddy Vision (aka Lewis Hill)!
For the first time ever, we're allowing cross-platform play. Have Dare Devil for the 2600? Join in the fun on your 2600 compatible console of choice!

I enjoyed your review of this game on your Blog! @Sabertooth

I would love to see that! 👍🕹️

The ClubVCS Black Widow: Recharged Squad Challenge up now! If you're curious about this game, check out my attempt. Personally, it's one of my favorites but it's probably the hardest in the series.

Looks good. I like the large screen. Looks clear and crisp.
-
Yeah, I'm pretty impressed so far.
-
Ah man! I spent a lot of hours on Boogerman BITD. I loved how it was like a comic book. Not the most hygienic of games but it was fun and comical. One of my favorite Genny games. I like watching what he does when he is left alone for a bit.

The February ClubVCS Recharged Squad Challenge game is Neo Breakout from Atari 50!
Live now through February 28th!
-
The first Recharged Squad Challenge of the New Year is live now! VCTR-SCTR from Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration!

The Lower Decks crossover episode of SNW, called Those Old Scientists (TOS) is AMAZING. I gave my first straight up belly laugh in I don't know how long.
That's all.

The original Sony PlayStation wasn't the only gaming hardware to see a September '95 North American release...
Happy 25th to the Atari Jaguar CD! Only 11 official titles were released on the platform and a meager 20,000 units are reported to have been produced.
Celebrate the launch of the doomed Atari Jaguar peripheral with this montage of the 11 official releases, Virtual Light Machine and more!

Can you still get the ROM version of Iron Soldier 2 on cartridge? It would be sought after for sure.
-
Never mind. Songbird has both CD and cartridge versions. Cool.
-
Yeah @DegasElite, all of the Telegames releases are still available from legit sources for decent prices. The cart of IS3 version doesn't have cutscenes or music but is the same otherwise.

These Evercade Lynx collections are fantastic. Aside from the lack of a Comlynx port, the games play flawlessly and look great. The screen is big and bright and they included some real heavy hitters, including California Games, Checkered Flag, Blue Lightning and Chip's Challenge. At a fraction of the cost of a McWill modded Lynx and 25 carts this is great way to experience these games!
-
Good to know! I'd like a McWill Lynx but the price is 😮 Maybe I'll dabble in Evercade and its Lynx games instead.
-
I've really enjoyed the Evercade. The collections so far have been pretty good, the screen is nice and HDMI out is a great touch. Also, having the collections on carts is fun and unique for an emulation system. I'm hoping they do a console version that takes the same software.

Thinking about how all other iterations of Atari's iconic "fuji" logo were egregious.
Am I the only one whose skin crawls whenever a YouTuber uses the Infogrames flared fuji in a video? Ghastly!
-
You are not the only one. The "Flarey" logo is glaringly lame.
-
Top left is the one that I recognize. Top right was used on the arcade games but I don't remember seeing that one until Midway picked up Atari's arcade division. The bottom two are imposters!
A bit off subject but isn't it weird how Atari Games ended up going back to Warner?

@kamakazi20012 I'm using AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2Plus for streaming/game capture. The retro consoles (modded) are going to the unit via HDMI through my RetroTink 2x upscaler. AverMedia has a streaming/recording software called RECentral 4.0 that is similar to OBS Studio but is a bit easier to use.
The cool thing about the AVER unit is you can record game capture without a PC for reviews and such. It records on a microSD so you can dump it later for editing. For streaming, it does 4K pass through to your gaming monitor/TV. It's also pretty plug-in-play, so as a total noob I got up and running in a less than half an hour.
Good luck on your project!

"Atari laid the groundwork for console gaming as we know it today, so it was important for G FUEL to honor that legacy with a refreshing new flavor and one of the biggest Collector's Boxes we've ever produced," said G FUEL CEO Bryan Crowley. "We know that Atari fans will be spending hours exploring all that the new Atari 2600+ system has to offer, and G FUEL is the perfect way to stay energized and focused during those long classic gaming sessions."

Ooooooof.

I'm looking forward to these blog posts Arlen! I've seen more and more stuff about the Evercade but haven't checked one out in person yet. Really curious to see if this holds water with you or not.

Two weeks left in our Yars: Recharged Squad Challenge at ClubVCS.
This one has really grown on me. Have you tried the new Yars game on the VCS or any other platform?

-
Ah well. Worth a shot!
I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one.
-
Thanks again for the reminder. I would have totally biffed this one without that and then been really mad at myself.
I've only played one game so far (back to work!), but there's one thing already I don't like...the fact that you have to "fire" to eat the bricks. Mostly because it's different than the orig version and honestly seems unnecessary. Otherwise, it's pretty awesome so far.
-
VCS games sales are live now. This is a great chance to pick these titles up at a discount!

We might do a BPM Boy challenge in the future. Not sure if you've grabbed that yet but it's definitely an awesome game!
And Mockduck's Atari Mania review is pretty spot on.
-
OK, I've purchased BPM Boy, Atari Mania, and Missile Command Recharged.
Thank you for the heads up.

We welcomed "Babytooth Retro" into the world this morning just before 6:00 am. Mom and baby girl are healthy and sleeping. I'm taking the time to improve my swaddle. 😅
I may not be as active in the coming weeks but will keep ClubVCS rolling.

Well, it looks like I'll be getting a car payment for the first time in a while. I loved my MINI S 4-door. It was more fun to drive than any car I've owned since my '85 Fiero. RIP little buddy.

What do you think of World Tour Racing on the Jaguar? Never played it? Well, it ain't no Checkered Flag. Check out my first blog post since 2017 to share your thoughts or learn more!
