  1. What was your favorite Recharged game released to the VCS in 2022?  Let us know in our ClubVCS Twitter poll!

      RickR

I voted Yars', but they are all good.

I voted Yars' too but Breakout with the Classic is a close second after the recent fix. MCR 2022 is also a really solid entry to the series.

  2. When an official Atari social account picks up on #AtariDay!  @Justin

#AtariDay is for everyone! Especially people who think of Atari fondly and want to experience more of the World of Atari :berzerk:

  3. When I saw the recent homebrew drop at AtariAge this morning my wallet screamed and slid itself under the couch...

Ordered Gravitic Mines for the Jaguar and Knight Guy in Low-Res World for the 7800.  I was tempted to order some others but need to check my games spending after the holidays.

7800 guy here, checking in. Knight Guy looks fantastic. Shows that every bit of a classic NES game can be done nicely on the 7800 with some effort.

    3. Sabertooth

      Sabertooth

100 percent @Justin ! There was a lot more potential in the 7800 than we ever got from Atari. It's great to see some homebrew games proving this today!

  4. Wherever you are, I hope that you're enjoying a safe and happy Labor Day holiday!

Yeah, it was a really nice morning! The area is called Abalone Cove Park here in L.A. county. It's one of those places that is right in the "backyard" that we don't get to enough. A good way to spend a day off!

  5. Who else knows the joy of receiving a package with Atari Pilfer Proof Tape? Puts a smile on my face every time!

Thanks @RickR!  I do my best.  I'm waiting for @D.joe to wake up and knock me from the top spot. 😉

  7. Why is Road Runner for the 2600 so freakin' hard?!  It's killing my wrist!

I've never played it. Does it play like Decathlon?

It's pretty cool. Avoid Wile E. Coyote and eat lots of bird seed. It keeps your energy up. There are obstacles as well, like cliffs, bombs, etc. It's a good facsimile of the arcade version, for the A2600 anyway. Both the arcade and A2600 versions were developed by Atari.

  8. Woe to any person that finds one of these under the tree this Christmas!

Cute, cuddly and with a voracious appetite for mischief, the Gremlins wreak havoc in this 1986 Atari 5200 movie tie-in title. Notably, Gremlins was the last official game released for Atari's ill-fated console.

  9. Yars is rising on the VCS!

      Marco1019

It's a good teaser trailer, one that has really amped up the VCS base.

  10. You don't have to have a VCS to check out Antstream Arcade. I know I've mentioned it before but it's a ton of fun with a fantastic selection of games, tournaments and score challenges. I highly recommend it!

Up now, a Robotron 2084 single life challenge!

@RickR - it's available on multiple platforms: VCS, Windows, iOS, Android, Xbox One...

The version the VCS is optimized for that platform and contains some additional Atari content.

Very cool.  I had not heard of this.  I will check it out.  Thanks!

For giggles I downloaded it to my Windows PC. It plays exactly the same.

  11. You know that you're old when web versions of your childhood favorites are playable on the AARP website.

My mom lives in an assisted living facility, and I often think about what those places are going to look like when Gen X lives there.  Lots of arcade games, 80's music, and old consoles I hope.

That's hilarious!  That could be a great business opportunity if someone designed some tabletop models that people in wheelchairs could use and went to the assisted living and/or nursing homes to sell them.

  12. 20 more pages and I'm done with this class. Looking forward to getting back to the Squad Challenge and trying my hand at Stargate.Time to break out the Starplex.

Thanks, Row! 23 pages turned in this morning. Now I have one week before it starts all over again. Time to cram in some Atari between work and sleep. On second thought, sleep is overrated. ;)

  13. Birth, school, work, death. Somewhere in that there is time for Atari.

      That's my goal anyway.

  14. Birthday weekend and I have 25 pages standing between me and a beer. Why did I wait this long to go back to school?

  19. Dragon Age: Inquistion is a G-R-I-N-D. It's going to take me a year or a weeklong flu to get through this game.

I've been really excited about Dragon Age. Does the grind feel worth the effort?

    2. Sabertooth

      Sabertooth

The scope of the game is a little overwhelming at first but once you get leveled up it's all good. It really does strike a balance between DA:O and DA:2.

  20. Excited to be able to pop back on here again. I have three weeks until my schedule gets nuts again. Looking forward to some gaming after work.

Most things were above eBay pricing. I grabbed three controllers, Vampire Hunter on Saturn and Wing Commander IV on PS1. If you're interested, you can see the write up under the Events & Clubs subforum.

  23. I am considering an upgrade for the new Mass Effect. PS4 or PS4 Pro?

  24. I enter my 4th decade this weekend. That's right, the big Four-O. I guess I should spend it playing my favorite console from 1977. ;)
