That's impressive! It's nice to see the Wii U get some love! I always liked that little system and wished it had done as well as the original Wii did for Nintendo.

So I'm gonna use this thread to highlight some of my collection here and there. First, I figured I'd share my recently completed Wii U set that I finished this past Sunday.

There are 161 games in a full set, soon to be 162. Just dance 2018 releases at the end of October for the Wii u and surprisingly the original Wii too along with current gen consoles. I got bit by the Wii U bug pretty hard. Before I decided to go for a full set I had 33 games already. It took me a month and a half, some local trades and a bunch of gamestop trade credit. Their 60% trade bonus when I took in games was awesome and a week later they ran a buy 3 used Wii u games get 30% off. That's when I went nuts. I'm really happy to have the set.

So this makes the Wii u the second console that I have a set for. The 1st being the Atari 5200.

This demo for the Atari 5200, we think, was to be used to test joystick movements for the Atari 5200 controllers, as the joystick fire buttons serve no purpose in the function of the demo.

The commentary seems different at the end from the actual video; it's because we had to cut out part of the video. We forgot to adjust the contrast as you can see (the tanks are hard to see) and as we fiddled, the video got blurry. So, we cut that part out, and reused the first part of the video with the complete commentary.

What is your Weapon of Choice?
We as Atari gamers have many options, here are mine...

I first picked up the Power Stick, this was an amazing experience due to the very light and responsive nature of this stick.  I didn't feel like I put up a good score but the pay was amazing.

Next Wico Boss.  Was not sure how this was going to go but I was surprised by the gameplay I was getting.  Easy to control and no maze lane wandering, at first I needed to get accustomed to the Boss but very soon in I felt confident in the maze.

Moving on the the GripStick V61... Not too good in the maze.  Excellent for Ballblazer - Pac Man 2600... Not so much.  I did like the suction cups, thats a great feature but I was getting a ton of lane wandering and did not feel in control at all, and check out that score, I guess if I really practiced with this I could manage but after playing with the last two controllers I thought it was time to move on.

My personal favorite controller for Ms. Pac Man on the 7800 is the Wico Ball top controller.  This to me is the tops when it comes to 3rd party controllers, its just built like a tank, very little hand cramping and you can really slam that controller around, but this not how old Pac moves in this one.  The Ms. and this stick - great match up and you can really whip around the corners in the 7800 version, this one not so much.

On to the 7800 euro gamepad.  Well I had a good round - for me at least and it controlled pretty good with the pad... However, my thumb got tired real quick, like almost right off the bat.  Also I started with the thumb joystick in and as soon as I started took it out.  This got me a good score but it took a toll on my thumb.

Note that when I first started the High Score Squad Challenge this month I though I would use the original joystick in a StickStand... the amount of stress it takes to make the old joysticks work is nuts.  It was making my shoulder hurt and I can't imagine it without the StickStand, and it's suppose to help.

So I played a few rounds, it was time to try the Power Stick one more time.

What say you?  What are you using for this round of Pac-Man on the 2600?

The Taito WOWOW: The Console That Never Was
    AE Redux
Published on Feb 19, 2017 During the 16-bit era, a fierce battle was waged between Nintendo, Sega, and NEC, but did you know that Taito was considering entering the fray with a console of their own? In 1992, they announced the Taito WOWOW, a CD-based system that would make thorough use of satellite technology. The console never got past the prototype stage, but it's interesting to see Taito was floating such a system.

The Professor reacted to Atari 5200 Guy in Metroid Movie?
Well...not exactly.  But this fan-based short live action "trailer" pitches a good idea with tons of special effects that captures why Metroid fans love the game and crams it in a film that is under 5 minutes.  If Nintendo was to approve of this and move forward using the same team that created this...hell yea I'd watch it!  I'll be good and not say anything about the person who played Samus in this...other than I think it was a perfect match.

Nintendo...are you seeing this?  Get off your butts, hire or work this crew, and make this film happen!  This is really good!

plus we wanted to give the game its own unique name for the 5200 version. we toyed around with a few other words, and just the letter "X". i think we have a good name. peter is doing a good job as usual programming the game.

"Secretum Labyrinth Kings Gold" is a freeware/demoware game I made for the 8-bit a few years ago so people get a taste of what I am developing.
"Secretum Labyrinth The Legend" is a 64K ROM cartridge that uses the 64K of RAM on the 8-bit, that is has a much larger dungeon to explore, and many more things to do.
When it came time to port some games to the 5200, I decided, why not also attempt to port the Secretum Labyrinth engine over also. I started with porting using the database from "Kings Gold" so I have some test data to compare it to. But later in the process I decided to come up make something new I can add to this series of games. I had all this stuff I was experimenting with for optimization, improving the graphics, game play, and fitting more into a smaller space. So I applied that to this 5200 cartridge.
I have been looking to add other RPG (Role Playing Game) and Adventure like elements into this. So this will have some things we had not yet seen in the prior Secretum Labyrinth games.

here is our newest demo for the 5200 game "Secretum Labyrinth Xenogenesis". we will try to keep everyone updated as we progress. as you see, its going to be a awesome 5200 release. peter has put together a very good game here. there has been some input from others in our group, and some help in the conversion to the 5200.
