yeah that's what screens shots or video is for ... "nerd credibility"
the challenge just says:
THIS doesn't specify that "a" = advanced on sears consoles (and "b" = beginner)
the 7800 console doesn't specify which is which
the 7800 manual says "to the left is more difficult" but on MY console it is to the right
I think all this exonerates you from doing anything amiss.
it certainly made this challenge even more interesting
I still haven't made the 3'rd screen

Check this one out. I really want it but i would never pay that much for it
yeah I wanted one too but could never find one
$200.oo for someone looking for moniez to burn it would be tough NOT to atleast offer fitty bucks. I'm sure he just wanted the cars & got the stand for free

crack open the console & try a replacement RCA cable of some kind to see if image improves ( note the tip of the stock RF cable is shorter on one end )
also that origonal RF cable might have some corrosion on it clean all that up somehow , 90% rubbing alchohol, brasso , file , whatever
coax to RCA adapter is what I use , amesomest thing eve-a !!!!

So I hooked up my 2600 and yes it is different!!! The paddle goes to a quarter of it's original size instead of the half sized version on my 7800!!! Ignore all my scores!!
I tried game on my 7800 , there is no label on console which is "a" or "b"
as it turned out on mine "a" was to the right
I hope you keep on playing & sure you will acheive & surpass the scores you posted
-
My best score yet, 1,221! almost made it through level 3. I was stuck in a loop at the end of 2 but found if you keep hitting it in the same direction the ball will slowly move out of the endless loop. Hope it helps someone!
ok I gatta ask .... do you have set to difficulty "a" ? ... that paddle in screenshot is same size as a full brick left behind. -or- did your last ball not hit the top of the screen ?
when my ball hit top of screen my paddle is reduced to the approximate size of the width of half a brick
I was 3 bricks shy of 3'rd screen
-
Is that your paddle at the bottom of the screen, or a Tic Tac that you stuck there for safekeeping?
that's the size of the paddle on difficuly "a"
at first Thought you were talking about the Alien button

I liked it before I even watched it
some reason I do remember it being more challenging , must have been the balloon bounce game I was thinking of

With the Art of Atari book release now right around the corner (tomorrow!) I'm pleased to present an interview that I did with the book's author, Tim Lapetino, on behalf of the site. Huge thanks to Tim for his participation and his willingness to give thorough and informative answers. We hope to have Tim join us for a Wednesday night chat in the near future -- stay tuned for details on that.
I'm now watching my post office box like a hawk for my copy of the book! I intend to post a review once I've had the chance to read it cover to cover -- I don't imagine it will take me long, as this has been circled on my calendar for months.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts about Art of Atari!
I may put it on My Christmas wish list. but honestly I'd prolly just look at the pictures
They had the book for sale at PRGE, and the authors were there to sign. The issue for me was that they had sold out the standard version ($30), and the deluxe version was $80. I'm a cheap SOB, we all know that. I couldn't justify that higher price with 1 kid in college and another on the way next year.
I will tell you that the book looks absolutely stunningly awesome. So much better than I imagined. For those that bought it, I can promise you are going to love it. Trust me on this. I agonized about buying the deluxe version. I do feel thankful that they let me thumb through it.
I also had the opportunity at PRGE to purchase an Intellivision flash cart that looked awesome. But it was $120. Well worth it...but did I mention that I'm a cheap SOB? I thought very hard about this one too, but imagined my wife with her hands on her hips making angry eyes....I had to leave it.

I'm voting for Frankie because I'm intrigued by that game. Also I'm curious to see if there is actually a data age game that isn't horrible.
Encounter at L-5 is a terrific Data Age title ... uses paddles too

stuff I put in:
GBA Tetris Worlds sealed , Disney Princess PnP ( game is no push-over !!!! ) , NASCAR VFD game? Sega Madden 94' w/ EA's 4-way play adapter, 3-way coax switcher, excalibure head to head Space Invaders ( needs to be top-lit to play), pack of what I imagined to be pre-teen un-mutated ninjas
