Todays antique store finds. The oacman tins were $5 a piece.
The singing jaws was in the free box. They said they found it with popped batteries in it and tried cleaning it but cant get it to work. From the looks of it they didnt clean too well, but i still cant get it to work
Is Oakman a knock-off of a popular Marvel character ???

Not at this time. It's cool...but I think I have several copies of Space Invaders already. Those silver labels are really nice looking.
the silver labeled carts are pretty cool , they came in the Red box as well as the silver box , the silver box it the rare item as it was mail only

Argg. This game has one of the Allegedly hardest second levels in the history of games. Each jump has to be perfect and you don't even have a jump button. There were a few times I walked right over the edge of a ledge. I actually find the third level easier than the second.
Oh well. After several tries, here's my best game.

That guy should be FIRED.

after a long day of doing tech work for a base salary trying to find the power input on a 4 port 5200 whould push ANYONE over the edge.
gaming stuff around here is packaged and labeled "Goodwill Certified" with an (inflated IMHO) barcoded price tag
examples would be common atari carts for 10 bucks , NES controllers for ten bucks. common NES games for 20 bucks.
I think Goodwill has a "better" return policy than Salvation Army. but I'd rather take the gamble & tinker with then thing myself than have their "certification"
I suppose it does give people a job , even if they wind up hating it

It looks like it has a face and gremlin ears to me.
yeah I can see that now

So part of this was a trade, part of it was cash, and part of it was just plain ol generosity from none other than RickR! I just have to thank him again for sending me, for the cost of shipping alone, a functioning Atari 5200 with a copy of Pac Man! We did a trade for the two controllers (also generous as eBay has shown me they go for quite a bit!), and I have been thoroughly enjoying this system! Once you get used to the controllers its pretty fun, although admittedly some games are easier to control than others.
I just thought I would post my entire collection in a pic, but for details on how I scored the other carts see http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/2999-so-i-bought-a-bunch-of-5200-games/
I could totally see that console being made a "Mad Max edition" ... of course you might need someone to develop a home-brew with that theme as well
-
I certainly do , I prolly "owe you" some free stuff for some 5200 titles you sent me quite awhile ago.
what you been into lately ( other than work )

So this past week i have found a few handhelds that i was happy to find. I could feel that there were batteries in them but i didnt have a screwdriver so couldnt see the condition of em. Anyway they all had popped / leaked batteries in them.
My question is what is the best method to clean the battery compartment out? I was reading online and i see either backing soda or white vinegar are the best methods. What do yall use?
I use both, I think the science behind it is bringing the PH level back to zero ... for acid damage; Baking soda. For Alkaline leakage; White vinegar
if you mix the baking soda with white vinegar you can get a "scrubbing action" as it bubbles
oh yeah , don't do this while eating & make sure to wash hands really good when done

the toughest thing to open & maintain the original packaging is a head of lettuce .... but by just tearing through it I think it helps knowing the ridiculousness of it all

Not a trade....chas10e sent me all this gold at no charge! WOW. I can't thank you enough.
The bowling game is what started this. It needs a new battery we think. I'll figure it out.
The Atari 8-bit books are just 100% pure treasure to me. The 8-bit computers are my favorite retro system. These babies are going to have a nice home here. The catalog on the lower left is particularly fascinating -- it has a bunch of the computers that were planned but never produced. Atari 1450XLD anyone?
Thanks again. \o/
the bowling thing used to come-on pressing button through the package ... but it was sealed & I can't bring myself to open a sealed game .... so you gatta open it , fix batteries & re-seal it so it looks like it never been opened ... I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
all the 8-bit stuff books I rescued from recycling place and knew they would thoroughly be enjoyed. ... opening a book isn't something I do much of either

My latest Ebay find. The wonderfully obscure, possibly cheesy, and totally awesome Nintendo e-Reader. A darn shame this thing never made a bigger impact. It's delightfully high-tech in a Nintendo kind of way.
Anyway, it comes with Clu Clu Land-e, Donkey Kong Jr.-e, Tennis-e, and Manhole-e.
All this for just $16.99.
never heard of those ...... gatta youtube it now

Day 6, 923.9 mi
Was flooring it at the end, crashed on the last car needed to pass to make Day 7.
it was prolly one of them Pennsylvania drivers always driving slow in the fast lane
Been playing this on my Flashback Portable...and it doesn't display anything but mileage! Ughhh...better play this on a real console, I guess!
would be interesting to see a screen-shot .... I would imagine mileage would be enough ... I don't know much about the FBP database of compatible games but would make a good contribution if hadn't already been mentioned.
think I got a Day 4 pic but ain't posted it yet .... I need to get a few more games in for sure

That, my friend, is a thing of beauty....
Only thing i'd (personally) change on a rebuild?
Swop positions of TV (it's too high) and the 7800 Pro System box...if that's possible, some TV brackets of back is strong enough to support them?.
the demontration units at the local Wal-marts these days have the monitors very high up , I think the idea is that the blood circulation to your brain is cut off makeing you more likly to make an impulse purchase ..... although I could be wrong

First try.
This game is really a great choice for a high score challenge. I don't think I've ever really played it before. Very fun. My issue is that I kept pressing the button to brake. I need to get better acquainted with the controls.
I think Pole Position for 2600 does the brake with the button
yeah fun game
great first run

This game is my one of my top faves on the 2600. It's all about speed control.
Played on real hardware of course!
TEN DAYS ?!!? ... the cab of that car must smell like feet wrapped in bacon
great job

PROOF That Ms. Pac-Man Should've Been The Atari 7800 Pack-In!
in Atari 7800
Posted
Pac-Man was a launch title for the 2600 for awhile. I don't have any statistics of how well that turned out.
Pole Position 2 was an Atari title they didn't need to get a licence for and quite a graphical improvement over the 2600 version
Ms Pac-man for the 2600 is a terrific game. not sure what improvements there are for the 7800 release.
