  5. Thanks for clearing this up @Video 61! I had a feeling these were the ones 😀 @lucca777 Jack Tramiel, Commodore founder who acquired Atari from Warner Communications in 1984: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Tramiel @lucca777 These were counterfeit items, which were often seized at ports of entry into the United States, and then sent to the person or company that owned the rights to that item to dispose of. (Which was Atari in many cases of counterfeit video games during that time.) Jack Tramiel chose not to destroy the counterfeit games but to send them to official Atari distributors including Lance at @Video 61. I had never heard this story until @Video 61 shared this with me fairly recently.
  6. @Video 61 Did you get some of these that had been confiscated by customs off of a ship and sent to Jack?
  7. Busy weekend, I haven't forgotten you guys 🙂

      RickR

Busy is the new normal for many!  Don't worry about the lot of us vagabonds.  We understand completely.

I've been unable to participate in the VCS challenges because my gaming room has been taken over by visiting adult children!  I would move the VCS downstairs, but that involves undoing all the wiring and just thinking about it makes me tired.  In any case, we should be back to empty-nest status later this week.

Everything's all set to go! Things get a little busy sometimes but I'll never forget or abandon you guys. It's been a rough year.

  8. Wordpress became far less secure than it was nine years ago when I created this iteration of the site. I will be rebuilding it within the secure platform that the forums offers, using the content from the main site. That requires a great deal of time which I haven't had much of this year, but it will be worked out.
  9. I've really enjoyed those Champs Games releases. Great video!
  10. Your memories of this would be an excellent topic for us to dive into in a Lance's Laboratory blog entry 🙂
  11. @peteym5 @DegasElite Here's a fine selection of epic adventurous headwear:
  12. Brown pixels in the style of an Indiana Jones hat would be pretty cool. Without actually making him Indiana Jones.
  13. This is probably my favorite game specifically for the Atari XE! Although it may take a back seat to Rescue on Fractalus. Great game! I need to get it booted up and play it a bit to refresh my memory and then I could be of more help!
  14. I realize TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine has grown expensive, but getting set up with a decent TurboGrafx-16 system is well worth it, and investing in a Turbo EverDrive is a wise idea. If you need help with that PM me and I will be as helpful as I can. @MaximumRD helped me get set up with everything I needed for the EverDrive a few years ago and I am happy to share that knowledge. I've had a TurboDuo and TurboExpress for decades. I absolutely love them. The Analogue Duo may be worth considering as well, if you are looking to dive into the world of TurboGrafx-16: https://www.analogue.co/duo
  15. I agree. If Atari is going to do this, my hope and wish would be to see them re-assemble some of old Atari's assets along with IPs they should've had - try to get back Battlezone, some of the "Atari Games" titles that Midway had such as RoadBlasters, S.T.U.N. Runner, Marble Madness and Paperboy, and whatever Epyx had that would've been on Lynx.
  16. Atari recently acquired the rights to the Bubsy franchise along with 100 other games. Does this seem like exciting news to you? What might this indicate about Atari's direction in the future?
  17. Haha the bold signifies forums with unread posts. If you look at a smaller forum where you've read everything, you'll see that it's not bold. I think it's doing that because it's a link to Club VCS and can't correlate unread posts in the club to the Forum category acting as a link. I didn't even catch that until you pointed it out.
  18. Done deal. I hope all VCS enthusiasts feel welcome here 😀 Here you go:
  19. This is a MONTH LONG Squad Challenge! You have through June 30th to post your High Score! Take the extra time to enjoy the game!
