  1. I will 🙂 I'm in Naples but it would be worth the drive. I'm usually over your way about once a month anyway. Best wishes!
  2. I also think its important that we're able to discuss computer history and web history in Atari I/O and not be limited to just video games. I'm fascinated by these stories. Robert Noyce leaving Fairchild and creating Intel. Alan Kay and the Dynabook, and of course his developments at Atari. Tim Berners-Lee developing the Web, HTML, URL, HTTP on a NeXT machine, Linus Torvalds creating Linux, Xerox PARC creating the Alto and Star, the GUI and mouse and doing almost nothing with it, of course Tramiel and Commodore, Atari, Jay Miner and the Grass Valley guys, how Commodore and Atari essentially switched places with Commodore getting the Amiga and Atari ending up with the ST, and of course Jobs and Woz creating Apple. Every time I'm in line and see everybody on an iPhone I always think that everything that brought us to this moment all traces back to Steve Wozniak, and Steve Jobs working at Atari, and the tale of how Nolan Bushnell supposedly passed on owning 1/3 of Apple for $50,000. Then there's the "what if" rabbit hole of "what if Warner hadn't sold Atari?" and "What if the crash hadn't happened?" ... "What if Alan Kay had pushed things further at Atari?" .. "What if Nolan had never sold Atari to being with?" Obviously computers are such a huge part of our daily lives at this point, and Atari was there pretty early on. It's quite a thread to tug on.
  3. I think this interview is interesting because even if you come at it from the trajectory of "listening to a 30 year old conversation predicting the internet we take for granted today" rather than "Steve Jobs interview" it's absolutely fascinating.
  4. LETTSSS GOOO!!! 📸🔥 ABSOLUTELY. I've thought about coming to see you professionally. Those are great! THANK YOU! 🏆
  5. Thought provoking NPR interview with Steve Jobs on the Future of the Web. This episode was first broadcast on February 22, 1996 - at a time when Steve Jobs was enjoying the success of Toy Story at Pixar, and was still leading NeXT, just shy of a year prior to Apple acquiring NeXT and Jobs returning to Apple as "iCEO". This is an episode of "Fresh Air" hosted by Terry Gross, broadcasting from WHYY in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. If you have an interest in the history of the Web, you will find this interview fascinating. The internet we take for granted today is described in this interview as a fantasy about to be realized, and it's quite interesting to listen to these ideas discussed almost three decades ago. This YouTube video is audio-only, as this was a radio broadcast. Enjoy!
  6. Thank you! Me too. I wish they had kept it going much longer. I always enjoyed driving past Universal on the way home, looking up at that part of the park for I-4 and knowing, somewhere up there, tourists were blasting through time at any given moment. And touring Amity Island, surviving Earthquakes, running from dinosaurs, and flying on bicycles with E.T. and Elliott
  7. @TrekMD Will you be sure to take lots of pictures (and video too if possible!) to share with all of us stuck back here in South Florida and unable to make it to Portland in time for this great event?
  8. I'm adding this photo I took of my own car just because I thought it looked really cool 🙃
  9. THAT'S AWESOME @Smell Dawg!! Glad to hear it! I feel like everybody either: Owns physical media (I agree!) Finds a way to download for free Doesn't buy movies because they subscribe to Netflix, etc. The convenience of legally owning media - that you can access anytime on any device - without a subscription to a streaming service - without having to download in a less-than-legal method - in my situation the convenience of that is worth the price of a $4.99 rental. I can own a physical copy, and still own it on iTunes and legally download it to an external hard drive, and it's mine forever. I like to treat myself to a $4.99 every Friday night like I'm going to Blockbuster. I've built up quite a library of "classics" that would appeal to the Atari I/O crowd - E.T. etc. @Smell Dawg I hope you enjoy Superman! Feel free to share any good movie deals for these classics that you might find!

  16. 🖖 Atari Age members are welcome here. Atari VCS players are welcome here. Young people just discovering the World of Atari are welcome here. Atari alumni are welcome here. Atari I/O is a Disney World of classic gaming - a place for people of all interests, ages and skill levels to gather and make friends discussing our favorite hobbies - and continuing the adventure of what comes NeXT.

I agree with this.  Atari was about family and friends spending time together, it wasn't always about the games.  Atari is how and why I learn how to be social.  Doesn't matter where you are from, we are all here for the same reason.  And we all need a break from life.  So sit down, visit with people on here, and enjoy a good game.  It doesn't even have to be an Atari game.  Whatever game you want to play...the idea is to enjoy yourself.  Come here and lower your stress level.  See?  Atari Pac-Man is good for something after all!

As soon as I can remember my password I will gladly copy and paste that on my Instagram account and my YT channel.  I can't remember my password to these forums.

  17. Even an "update" episode per year would be a real treat @dauber. I hope you'll still continue to be part of the Atari community, and continue to join our little group in the Atari I/O Forums
  18. WOW that's a beautiful setup @Jinroh 😳 I hope it finds a good home!
  19. I'm really saddened to hear that, that's a huge loss Sean. Thank you for what you've created so far @dauber! You've given the Atari 7800 community something great, and in the spirit of @nosweargamer which is a wonderful thing. I hope you'll pick this up again when you feel the inspiration. We're here if you are.
  20. Also - I think this is an important thought - it would be wise of Atari to assign these new games CX numbers and include them at the bottom of the box. For example, Mr. Run and Jump would be CX-26191 or wherever we're at now. There's no reason not to continue the product numbering system if these are going to be official releases.
  21. I really appreciate Atari making the effort to bring back the 1982-1984 Silver Boxes for the 2600. This is what the "Special Edition" of Mr. Run and Jump looks like. Although the "Atari 2600" logo isn't quite right (the 0s were originally circular Os" and the spine font isn't right, but they're close to the real look and feel of what we would want. If they had somebody like Tim Lapetino advising them, even informally, or one of us, or a homebrewer, that would go a long way to getting things just right. Atari is making an effort here and I want to be supportive of that. This feels like the firs time there's been a light on over there since the Jaguar came out and I want to encourage them to keep going.
  22. Absolutely agree. They'd have to get the credit right right on that one though. It would be a huge tribute to Kurt Howe / Nukey Shay.
