The Atari Lynx may have a small library, but it's a good one

I totally relate to this. With the exception of the VCS I can't remember the last time I played a "modern" game. Literally a few years I think. Turbo Duo and Jaguar are about as modern as I get.
I should amend this to say that I have a Nintendo Switch and occasionally play games on there with my gf and family. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, and most likely soon Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Most all of those games are in the spirit of classic 8-bit and 16-bit games. The Switch gets used most to play NES and SNES games through the Nintendo OnLine service with an NES style controller. The new F-ZERO 99 is pretty incredible, and free!

Games on the Atari VCS fill this niche for me. I've got the new version of "Haunted House" to dig into and also "Doodle Taxi".
The main issue is time and it is totally my choices that are the cause. Gaming just isn't a top priority. Work, home chores, cooking, and family time are all in front of gaming.

Absolutely, especially the new "Fire Jaguar" looks pretty good. Make Songbird's releases stand out even more in a collection. Just was wondering what was behind all this.
And next up might be Piko Interactive then as well, as their releases sported the Jag logo too (so far). Just noticed that only Switchblade II for the Jag can be found on their shop, with the boxart showing the logo. Did not preorder this one, but will be interesting to see what they'll do.
The interesting thing is, even with the new Atari protecting their trademarks, that doesn't necessarily mean Songbird has to create a new logo for their Jaguar and Lynx cartridges. It can still have the box art on the cartridge label and simply say "Compatible with Atari Jaguar interactive multimedia video game systems" etc.

In the United States, having the word "Atari Jaguar" on a good pertaining to a video game console is enough for Atari to need to protect, aside from the design of the logo itself. It's possible the Jaguar logo is also being applied for but may not be necessary. A deeper search could show more.

Likewise, many other Atari trademarks have recently been applied for:

Does anyone know more specifics about all this?
Yes,
In the United States, the "ATARI JAGUAR" trademark is Live once again for section 028 Goods and Services, namely Video game consoles, with the applicant Atari Interactive, Inc. having filed for the trademark on May 3, 2021 and published for opposition on December 14, 2021. Previously, the trademark had been filed on April 20, 1992, published for opposition on November 23, 1993 and abandoned on September 12, 1996.

NOTE: I edited the title of this thread to reflect the artist's name Terry Hoff - as not to become confused with Intel and Atari's Marcian "Ted" Hoff who is not an artist, but rather one of the inventors of the Microprocessor 🧠

I was going to say this yesterday looking at Mr. Run and Jump, and Berzerk - it's so strange looking at classic Atari packaging and seeing an ESRB rating labeled on the front. That always hits me as a little surreal.

It may not be appropriate here, but we booked a trip to Disneyland in Feb because of the awesome sale going on right now at Alaska Airlines. It is going to be a good week to book your 2024 spring trips if you have any planned.
Totally appropriate, this website was partially built sitting in Disney at lunch. Let’s share the best deals we find out there, with each other in the forums ☺️

I feel like they need an Atari historian with a background in graphic art advising their box and label designs. Tim Lapetino would be ideal, if not someone from original Atari themselves.

I think a comparison of the Mr. Run and Jump box in between the 1986 red Atari 2600 cartridge boxes would be fitting.

But my dream came true a few years later when I found an Atari 800XL/1050 disk drive/1025 printer bundle on clearance at Sears. The computer did not disappoint. I loved it and still do.
If you were talking to someone thinking about getting into 8-bit computing, what things would you tell them about the Atari 8-bit computers when explaining why you loved it and still do?

It's interesting how there are so many discussions about Jack Tramiel and Nolan Bushnell but hardly any about Steve Ross, who had the most impact on what Atari became.

The 20 Greatest Atari Lynx Games of All-Time
in Atari Lynx
Posted
@Video 61 can weigh in on this more than I can - and maybe this would be an excellent topic for one of his unique Blog posts - but according to Lance, EPYX had a great many more Lynx games already in development that would've cost Atari very little to bring to fruition, but Jack Tramiel pulled the plug. Incredibly unfortunate.
