Justin reacted to Atari 5200 Guy in Squad Challenge - 2023 F-ZERO Christmas Challenge (Super Nintendo)
lol. I posted that comment to bump up this thread thinking that it might have got lost. 😆
We’ve all been busy. I know I’ve been busy and I haven’t been home to play more F-Zero. If I get to make it back home before the end of the month and can find time I would like to try again.

A gameplay only "first look" at the Atari 7800 homebrew Dragon's Cache, now available on the Atari VCS! All three games in the Dragon Trilogy were released today for $4.99 ea. I love seeing more homebrew make its way to the VCS!

Justin reacted to MaximumRD in lo-fi, low res, retro style images.
Okay, this is purely just some silliness and having some fun. 😜I am using a camera app with filter results hopefully somewhat reminiscent of how images might have been displayed on some retro consoles and computers. Perhaps this is how an image might have looked also printed out on Old dot matrix printers. Anyway, this is an app on my old Android 7 phone called Retroboy, I've taken some selfies using various filter options. With each filter option, you can also go to settings and customize results in regards to resolution etc. Shown are samples using filters for c64, Game Boy, Apple computer etc. As to the specifics or the accuracy of the results I cannot say. It's just a toy more than anything but I just love playing around with such things that try to mimic the results we would have had back in the day on our beloved computers in consoles. Again, it's all just for fun and something to do, various similar apps create this effect or they may record video or take images that appear to have been created with an old '80s VHS camera or the low res Game Boy camera or even mimic the effects of cameras from years gone by, of course, we can always do amazing things with our modern phones and cameras but I have more fun I think playing around recreating styles from long past, we didn't have the resolution or the detail or the effects that we can create now of course but that didn't mean that you couldn't be creative and have fun.

Justin reacted to Cryptocoffee13 in Would anyone be interested in a Club VCS game jam in the New Year?
Sounds like fun to me. Too bad the VCS doesn't have a way to know if others are online are not.

Justin reacted to MScottson in Would anyone be interested in a Club VCS game jam in the New Year?
I am wondering if there would be any interest in some kind of game jam in the new year? It could be for a certain set amount of time and if it draws enough interest we could also feature the entries in one of the next issues of the fanzine. Either way it was just a thought 🤔

I went with my parents yesterday to eat at a restaurant called "3 Pueblos" here in Puerto Rico. It's a top a mountain and you can see three towns, hence the name. We also went to have ice cream at a nearby town...

This is a really impressive port and showcases the capabilities of the 7800.

Justin reacted to TrekMD in Atari 2600+ Casual Play Series
Gotta agree with that assessment. It is one awesome game and one that can be played with dual sticks! It gives the game an even truer arcade feel!

Justin reacted to sramirez2008 in Atari 2600+ Casual Play Series
Robotron shows off the 7800s color palette and is a smooth running game. No slowdown at all, unlike the 5200 version which does experience occasional slowdown. Total twin-stick goodness.

Justin reacted to RickR in Evercade Carts That Stop Working
There are a lot of reports out there about Evercade carts that stop working. I think it is factual, as Blaze will replace such carts in many cases. But I don't know how widespread the issue is, or if it is caused by a particular action or poor quality.
What do you think? Has it happened to you?
Some theoretical causes:
Updates to the cart corrupt the cart. This implies that the original Evercade handheld may not cause this problem, as it doesn't connect to wifi and do updates. Removing the cart or turning off the Evercade while data is being saved corrupts the cart Physical deterioration. This implies a q-tip/alcohol cleaning can fix broken carts. Like I asked earlier -- please let us know if you have more info or if you've experienced the issue. How did the replacement process go for you?

That looks really nice! Very much like the ColecoVision version. I wouldn't have expected TI-99 to look this good.

Usually F-ZERO is a poppin' event! I've been pretty busy, I'll try to set some time aside this week to play a few rounds and get a score.
