  1. So has anyone else checked out the rebooted Ducktales on Disney Channel/Disney XD? Me and my family started watching through Disney Now, and we’ve all enjoyed it so far!

Having stronger female characters is a welcome change to the show. I also like the voice actor they got for Scrooge. This show will never beat the original for me, but I’m enjoying the fact that it’s back for a new generation to enjoy!

  2. Enjoyed the titles that are on there so far, but I haven’t tried any of the two player online yet. Really excited Ninja Gaiden will be added before the end of the year though. Also really hoping they extend the service to other consoles at some point, as it would be nice to have access to SNES and N64 titles as well.

  3. Great! I have been so backed up on podcasts because of vacation that I just got to Alien Crush. I thought this was a really fast turnaround but it's been a month.  :o

Anyway, I'm looking forward to listening, I love baseball games!

    Thanks, hope you enjoy!

I felt like it was a quick turnaround too, but yeah it was a month. I honestly wanted to get the episode out last week, but I could not find time to get the recording done. I think monthly will be the norm going forward unfortunately, but we'll see.

  4. Here are my scores!

I have two for Crystal Castles Arcade, one used the level 1 and 3 warps (both played on the DS Atari Greatest Hits Vol 2), the other was straight up from level 1:

    286,336 with level 1 and 3 warp

    41,852 without using any warps:

And I also have a score for the 2600 version, played on my 7800 with Genesis controller, 97,239

My daughter (Abby) also wanted to submit her high score of 5224 on the 2600:

Really enjoyed the challenge this month, this was a lot of fun!

  5. Thanks for the suggestions, Starbuck. Have you ever run across these?

I've tried the lower cost models like those, and the main issue I've found is that the D pad is too squishy. So when you're running in Mario and try to cut back quickly in the other direction, Mario will duck sometimes because down is being pressed as you move your thumb from right to left. It can also make you move up or down at times when you won't want to in other games.

The price point on these is tempting, and that's why I sprung for a few different ones over the years, but I've been disappointed every time. They seem to use the same parts and shell but just re-brand them.

  6. Built one of these for a buddy for Christmas and he loves it! It will play everything up to about Playstation level, but I only loaded it up with 16 bit systems and lower, plus a bunch of MAME games that I verified worked properly.

Thinking about getting one for myself at some point, but I really want it for the MAME games, and I've been wanting to build a full fledged MAME arcade cabinet at some point, so I'm holding off for now.

  7. If you want a new option for a decent third party SNES controller I've had good luck with these Cirka ones:

Otherwise if you're looking to get a rock solid controller I recommend an Ascii Pad... I have two of them that I got at local retro shops for about 15 each, and they are great. My buddy had one for his SNES back in the day and never had an issue with it, and I always felt like the D pad was better than the stock SNES controller D pad.

  8. Glad I waited to post because I got a deal last Saturday and this Saturday. I found the Coleco Telstar Ranger and the Pac Man PNP at a garage sale for, get this, 5 for the Telstar and 1 dollar for the Pac Man! Granted if you scroll further down the bottom of the Coleco box has some water damage, but overall its in pretty good shape. It doesn't have the extension cables for the paddles and I was unable to get the gun to work, but I have a flat screen CRT, so not sure if that's causing an issue with the gun?

BTW if anyone is interested in a trade or some cash for the Telstar just let me know... I really only bought it because it was such a good deal and I wanted it to go to a good home and not the dump.

I also got some games at Disc Traders today, and the best deal was Sub Scan for 2 dollars! And I couldn't believe how MINT this label is! Heck looking at the contacts on the cart it looks brand new!
