I just realized that in a way, you guys traded a Defender II for a Stargate!
That's very cool!😁
Yeah Willie regifted my disappointment of a Defender II cart from last year... apparently when he said Stargate he meant Stargate. 😆

One thing I'm learning is that it really helps to take a quick peek at the "next piece" coming. Quick peek only, though. That can usually help in deciding where the current piece should land. Think a few steps ahead.
I haven't had a lot of time yet to really get into this one. But I will.
Another great tip; I would also add that you need to arrange your pieces to accomodate any next piece you get. I always try to make sure I arrange things so I can accomodate any piece.

Let's get some tips for these insane scores!!! I thought i was pretty decent at Tetris, wow. |
One I would add to Rick’s tips is to start the game on a higher level to get better at manipulating the pieces at higher speeds for practice. That and the more empty you can have the board by the time you get to level 8 the better, as that’s when things really speed up.

65,177. I can't seem to keep it together at level 8 or 9, but I've been playing a lot on my PSP and 3DS, and I think I might do better at those higher speeds on actual hardware.

Man that’s awesome you were able to get so much time in at the actual arcade! I hear ya though, even planted at home in front of a console 12 hours with just a couple of meal breaks was a long stretch, and it was pretty much bed, up again, same drill. I was pretty burnt out Sunday night, but man we had a blast.
We focused on TG16 the whole morning and early afternoon, then switched to Colecovision and a little bit of Sega Genesis, then ended with some River City Ransom on the NES of all things. We planned 8-8 but we played till 9:30 to try and make up for the breaks we took.
Sunday we played Switch and Wii U most of the day, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (my daughter’s pick lol) Octopath Traveler, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Party, Splatoon, Nintendoland, Dragons Lair collection for the Wii, and finally wrapped up by beating Dungeons and Dragons Tower of Doom on the Xbox One. We went until 9PM again to make up for breaks, and it worked really well.
One thing I experienced after this is some pain in my left elbow... I think holding controllers in the same position for two days straight messed it up. I’ll need to move my arms more next time...
Can’t wait for next year!

So I'm not sure how many forum members are planning on participating in Extra Life this year, but I thought I would start a thread so people can share their donation pages and give members an opportunity to donate!
In case you're not familiar with Extra Life, gamers volunteer to play for 24 hours in support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to raise money to help sick kids in need. This is the first year I'm participating directly in the event, but in the past I've donated to Ferg's EL as well as others and have enjoyed watching their live streams of gaming marathons
Marathon weekend is this upcoming weekend, November 3rd. Some players play for 24 hours straight starting November 3rd, however I'm electing to split my 24 hours up into two shifts from 8AM to 8PM Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th. I also plan on having a live stream, internet connection permitting, but if I can't stream live I'll at least try to record the marathon and post it to Youtube later.
My goal for this year is 500 dollars, and I've got a ways to go for my goal, so any amount anyone can spare will help! The link to my donation page is below. Thanks!

Atari my dad was into Super Breakout, Battlezone, and Combat. He had high score competitions with my grandfather (a career Army man and Vietnam vet) on Battlezone... I was too young to remember them but from what I was told they were pretty intense!
Later when we got the NES I borrowed Solar Jetman from a friend, and my dad instantly fell in love with it! It was so bad I could barely get time on the game (even though I was much better at it than he was :-P). We went out and got a copy a week after I gave it back to my friend, and we hardly ever bought NES games, I always just rented them, so that was a big deal. My dad LOVED Tetris, both on the NES and Game Boy, and also Choplifter II on the Game Boy.
On the PC he was big into Sid Meier’s Civilization, especially CivNet and Civ II. He’d play those games for hours! And of course MS Solitare games on the Entertainment Packs; he liked Tri Peaks the best I think.
My dad was quite the gamer for a long time, until his MS got too bad for him to play anymore. He passed away several years back from complications related to it, but if it weren’t for him I don’t know if I would have had as big of a passion for video games as I do today.

3260 for a warm up.
Using an Original 2600JR w/ original joystick because the RetroN77 is an amazing pile of poo poo cha cha!!!! lol
You know I tried playing this on Stella with my 8 bit do pad, and I couldn’t crack 5000! I do much better with a TAC-2 on a real console.
