  1. So one of the local shops I go to had an Odyssey 2 for 30 bucks! No games or voice module, but it did come with a manual.

I know little to nothing about this system, but I picked it up for my in-laws as an anniversary gift. It was the first console they had, and they have some serious nostalgia for it. Anyone have any suggestions on games I should try to pick up? KC Munchkin seems obvious, but beyond that I wasn’t sure.

  2. I 100% agree with your order.

Mine is IV, VI, V, VIII, III, I, VII, II

Yes I liked Empire the least out of the original movies and yes I would take two of the prequels over Ep VII. After I first watched Ep VII I blew my family and friends minds when I turned to them and said I would take any of the prequels over Ep VII. I had time to think it over since then though, and I think II is bad enough to go to the bottom of the pile.

  3. My initial attempts at getting this game to run on my PC are here: http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/3364-good-windows-or-dos-trs-80-emulator/?hl=%2Bdungeons+%2Bdaggorath

Unfortunately I still had trouble getting any emulator to run this game, so I gave up. On a whim today, I decided to see if anyone made a PC port of the game, and to my surprise they did! And its free!

Thought I would share in case anyone with a PC is interested in playing or re-playing this classic. I never played it, and never heard of it until I read Ready Player One, and I wanted to give it a try.

  4. I agree on all your points, especially this one.  One more:  The bombs seemed to work via gravity!  In space!  Wouldn't they just float in place instead of falling when released?  That scene was horrible.

I'm guessing they have artificial grav on the ships, with that woman falling to her doom and all, so with that to start them dropping, I would think inertia would do the rest? Still dubious science in the fiction though...

I HATE the new Star Destroyer models too... I mean, the old ones had serious design flaws with the bridge location and shield generators being huge weak points and all, but they LOOKED impressive. These new ones look like they took two old ones and sandwiched them together.

  5. Some nitpicks:

The hyperspace knife trick... it seems like the Rebellion would have been using that all along if it was viable.

Spacewalk Leia was also jumping the shark, even for Star Wars.

Those huge slow bombers... I mean, maybe that’s all they had left, but where were the Y-wings? And the pilots wearing the masks... it’s like they were trying to make Memphis Belle in space, it was ridiculous.

Other than that I really enjoyed this movie, much more than the last installment because it felt original. Loved seeing Rey and Ren develop more as characters, and Luke Skywalker finally taking the stage, hell yeah! I also liked that Poe had more of a role in this movie, and started developing as more of a leader.

Planning on seeing this one again between Xmas and New Years for sure!

  6. So I found a copy of Ice Trek at a retro store in Lansing for 8 bucks... picked it up because Imagic Intellivision stuff is usually pretty good, and I’d never seen a copy in the wild before. Came with overlay and manual as well, but no box. Should I prepare to be wowed or disappointed?

  7. Ya, they have been in contact with me for advice. Trying to steer them in the right direction especially after all the drama they caused in the community. Robotech is nice, but I told them they should focus on releasing the unreleased ones from the 80's first (Berzerk and Omega Race) as those would probably get a lot more attention. I am not interested in Robotech at all, so most likely will pass on this one.

    Me if they release Berzerk:

  8. UPDATE: The podcast is launching December 1st! Get in any general feedback or memories on the TG16 by November 30th or earlier if possible :-) Audio submissions and email are both welcome; I plan on reading emails on the show ala Ferg :-) I hope Ferg doesn't mind me being a copycat with my format, but out of all the video game podcasts I listen to I like his format the best, so that's what I'm going with!

Find the podcast on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TurbotasticPodcast/

    And email: turbotasticpodcast@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  9. I am planning on family friendly. I think one of the big things that people love to do in our hobby is share it with their kids, kind of pass it on to the next generation as it were, and keeping the foul language out of the picture definitely helps. I can also drop some foul language with the best? worst? of them, but I don't want to include it in the podcast.

And yes Phil, I should have said with lasers blazing! I'm really really excited to talk about Blazing Lasers; its one of the main reasons I wanted a TG-16 in the first place.

Definitely going to take the advice on FTF as well; this is a hobby after all, not the most important thing in life.

  10. Thanks for the advice and the offer Ferg, both are appreciated!

I’m waiting for my mic to come in (went with a Samson Meteor to start) then I’ll probably do some test recording while I work on my research for episode 1 and 2. I’m thinking 1 game bi-weekly so I don’t burn myself out.

By the way, if anyone wants to start sending in any feedback/reviews now send it to turbotasticpodcast@gmail.com Episode 1 is going to be the obligatory hardware/my intro to TG16 episode, and Episode 2 is going to be Keith Courage in Alpha Zones.

  11. So.... I've been wanting to pursue a video game podcast for some time, and I think I've finally settled on doing a game by game podcast for the Turbografx. I'm probably going to follow a similar format to Ferg and the 2600 GBG Podcast. If anyone has any tips on podcasting please feel free to share them here or via PM, as I can use all the advice I can get!

I'm going to stay away from the PC Engine side of things, at least for now, but if I enjoy doing this enough I might discuss those games as well.

I'm just planning on going into this guns blazing, with a mic, a laptop, and an outline. We'll see how it goes  ;)
