  1. That Bowser is a great Happy Meal Toy! Looks great and can fire fireballs pretty fast.

I recently replayed One on One on the 7800. It may get overlooked sometimes, but it's a fun game. BTW, who took it? I don't recall seeing someone posting that they did.

I thought someone who was a CIB or NIB collector might get a kick out of it. I'm neither, so I though I would pass it on as I can grab a loose copy if I want to play it.

I'll double check to make sure it was put in the box, but I'm 99% sure I did.

  2. YES! I got the box back!

I must admit, after hearing about some of the disappointments this go around, I was a little worried that all I'd find in the box was 40 dirty copies of Combat and an Osmonds 8 Track tape.

I'm glad to say I was wrong! The stuff in this box was a great mix! I'm truly sorry if you didn't find much you liked, but I'm shocked some of this stuff made it to me!

I want to thank everyone who participated.

Please post a pics or videos of your contributions to the box!

I looked REAL hard at that copy of Dragons Lair.... but I don't have a Sega CD and I'm not sure if or when I'll get one in the near future. I'm a little more hesitant to purchase old CD systems because the drives are so prone to failure. Seems safer to emulate for the time being.

I'll make sure to dig up an Osmonds 8 track next time, maybe some Carpenters too *shudder*

  3. I’m laughing at my initial apprehension now because I LOVED this movie! I’ve seen it twice and will probably see it a third time as well. It felt like classic Spielberg, and was really a treat to watch. Yes a lot of the book is missing, but a lot of the book wouldn’t have worked for a movie or drawn the mainstream crowd in, which is what you need for a movie to succeed.

It’s also jacked up the market for Adventure carts so that’s something...

  4. Just started playing this game again, this time in Master Mode... I had started my game before we moved, then left it sit for a while until last weekend when I got the urge to play again. I really wanted to not only beat the game in Master Mode, but also wanted to do the Champions Ballad quests. They weren’t out when I beat the game on the Wii U the first time, and I didn’t want to purchase the DLC for both the Wii U and the Switch.

Needless to say, with the higher enemy health pools and the health regen, I have had to do much more sneaking around. I also fought Waterblight Ganon for the first time last night, and found the health regen applies for bosses as well. I had the Master Sword (I always get it before attempting the Divine Beasts because it makes them easier), but he still put up a much better fight than the first time around.

Really looking forward to finishing this game in a more complete fashion this time around. I plan on hitting more of the side quests, getting more of the armor upgrades and special items, and of course knowing that I beat the game on the hardest difficulty. It’s been much more fulfilling playing on the higher difficulty and just enjoying the game, vs rushing to beat it like last time.

Anyone else kicking the tires on this one again, or playing for the first time?

  5. I look at it this way: there’s no guarantees on items being in the box that I want, and no guarantees on the stuff I have being wanted by others. I have what I have, and I try to participate.

If you have to go out and shop specifically for individuals on the list, you’re kind of taking the “junk” out of junk box, and turning it into more of a secret Santa thing. Like others have said, this isn’t for profit or getting your 20 bucks worth, this is for fun. Generally there’s something in there everyone will want, and if not there’s always next time. Kudos to Willie for paying it forward.

  6. Hope you enjoy Bobby is Going Home!

It's an obscure, but fun game.

And for those who can't tell, those are copies of Tron Solar Sailor and Sewer Sam for the Intellivision wrapped up with their manuals and overlays.

Yeah I hadn’t had a chance to unwrap anything yet; sorry for the rough pic :)

I was most excited about Solar Sailer; I’ve been wanting to play it since listening to the Intellivisionaries episode! Also looking forward to trying Bobby Is Going Home. I did try the Tempest game to make sure it worked in my PS3 first and it did; figure since I’ll probably never have a Jag and a copy of Tempest 2000 it would be the next best thing :)

  7. I never had it as a kid, but I remember being mezmerized by that gold cartridge. I played it a few times at friends or cousins houses, but my main Zelda games I played as a kid were Link’s Awakening on the Game Boy and Link to the Past on the SNES.

When I first started collecting again 5 years ago I found I had a copy someone had given me in the early 2000’s. I had bought and been given some loose games and collected for a little while back then for my NES that I had retrieved from my parents when I moved out in 2000. I loaded it up and beat it, and I’m so glad I went back and played it. It still holds up well today, and I want to beat the second quest at some point.

We also played pass the controller style at Thanksgiving last year at my in-laws house on my daughter’s NES mini, and that was a blast! We only broke out walkthroughs if everyone was stumped, otherwise we played from memory or from collective strategy. Good times!

  8. Episode 5 - Victory Run is available!

I have also included more information in the show notes regarding the term TATE in reference to shoot em ups. Thanks again for Gary Harris (aka Mr Grissom) for the additional info regarding arcade mode!

  9. Interesting thing... I tried running the 32x with the Genesis it was bundled with, and I couldn’t get it to work. The games would start to load, then glitch with some horizontal bars in the video and a buzzing sound. I tried it with my newer model 1 Genesis (mine doesn’t have the High Definition Graphics written at the top of the console), and it worked like a charm! I need to do further testing of that model 1 to make sure it doesn’t have deeper issues.

Finally have a 32x in my collection, along with a spare model 1 Genesis! Now I just need some 32x games... I have a copy of Star Wars Arcade on the way, and I’ll probably snag some others over the coming months.
