    I always liked Altered Beast a lot.  I agree with you, it's a decent port of the arcade version.  It has speech and the cool steroid-up transition screens.  I have fond memories of it since it came with my Genesis as a pack in game. 

    For me, I'd rather play a game like Golden Axe, but Altered Beast is great to just pick up and play since it's pretty short.  It's a shame that it gets such a bad reputation these days.

    While it's certainly not the best beat em' up game on the Genesis, I feel it deserves more credit.  Mega ranked it as the worst Mega Drive game!  I'm guessing they hadn't seen Action 52 on Genesis or Shaq Fu.  I played Altered Beast for the first time yesterday, and thought it was pretty cool.  It wasn't perfect, and I especially hate how the drums get cut off for several seconds after punching an enemy (meaning you rarely hear the drums), but the game was solid and a good port of the arcade original.  What are your thoughts on Altered Beast?

    Not trying to step off topic but Captain N contained a few characters from popular NES games at that time.  Mega Man, Kid Icarus, and Simon Belmont.  Have you played Castlevania II - Simon's Quest?  Yea...that Simon.  But they gave him this attitude that is much like "Biff" from the Back To The Future movies.  At times it works, at other times it's annoying.

     

    I am impressed that you have seen these.  I hope I can find them on VHS or DVD someday.  My favorite episode is the very first one.  Once they brought GameBoy into it the show seemed to lose some flair.  

     

    After seeing that trailer on the new Castlevania series coming up...I'm all for it!

    When I was 10, I was a Mario fanboy :)

     

    I almost bought Simon's Quest on Saturday.  I'll play it soon.

    Slated for the fall'ish. However there are conflicting reports from all over. Some are saying it will be somewhat kid friendly where others are reporting it will be uber violent!!!!!! I am getting a bit more excited for it personally.

    I heard someone say it would be R rated.  Personally, I'd prefer something everyone can watch, but some violence would make sense since it is Castlevania.

    I'd give it a chance.  It would be nice to have an animated series on this classic that takes the series a bit more serious than the Simon character we were stuck with in Captain N.  I loved that show, too, but the personality the show creators gave Simon just never seemed right to me.  At times it was annoying.  I'm all for this if it is good.

    I watched Captain N when I was 11, but that was at a time when I didn't know many Nintendo games, so I didn't know who Simon was.  I might have to watch that show again.

    Combat for $5?!?  Better come CIB for that price.  

     

    The 2600 4-switch I got needed some TLC as well but I have restored it.  Found a bad cap that I replaced with a better one so I get a better RF signal now.  I also replaced all of the chrome switches even though the originals did work and I had to replace the broken Difficulty B switch.  Nothing too major.  If you can replace the switch (if you haven't already) I kept the working switches from my console.  I can send you one no problem.  Send me a PM if interested.
