Yes Sir, specifically "Chocolate Spiced Rye Whisky" - Here is the blurb on it

Often, Canadian bootleggers would blend, age and transport Whisky in used cocoa barrels — after all Canada is famous for having invented the world’s first wrapped chocolate bar! The leftover cocoa husks would infuse the smooth rye with rich, warm chocolate flavours, creating something unique and delicious.

And a nice couple drinks that can be made with it (though I tend to drink straight up)

So, the Canadians invented the chocolate bar. Interesting. :O)

In America, Milton Hershey is famous for Hershey's chocolate. The town of Hershey, PA, is named after him.

  2. Once again after more tweaking and organizing, I am really enjoying the look and feel of Windows 11 on our main Desktop PC. AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor, 16GB, GTX 1060 6GB, Windows 11 Pro 😎🤘

Is it worth the upgrade from Windows 10?

@Atari 5200 Guy. Just seeing this, well you hear different things from different people. It's for ME but then I am always on the most recent updates and Widows version, my experience on several machines has been great personally, there are the minor teething problems of any new version of Windows so if you are good on 10 there is nothing earth shattering or life changing you would notice. For me, I know it's the future of Windows so typically I jump right in, get used to it, customize and tame the OS the way I like to work etc.

    4. Atari 5200 Guy

      Atari 5200 Guy

Yes.  I'm happy with 10 and I've not had any issues from the OS.  For me, it's been the best Windows version I've ever used.

Maybe someday I'll make the switch to 11...but not now.

  3. Since it’s Sunday and I am doing laundry I thus decree that today shall be known henceforth as laundry/8 bit Nintendo day! 😝😎🧐

Hi @MaximumRD, it's funny you say that!! Sunday is typically laundry / 8-bit Nintendo day for me as well. Laundry can be too quiet for me, almost like meditation or swimming under water. I decided doing laundry would be a nice time to listen to some good podcasts. I clearly remember one Sunday in 2009 you recommended that I check out the Retroist Podcast, that I would enjoy it. This was around the time that I had the YouTube videos, usually with an 8-Bit Nintendo game over my shoulder on the TV set behind me. I started listening to The Retroist regularly, and Sunday turned into a "treat" I would look forward to. After a while, that became a big inspiration for me to create Atari I/O and the Forums.

My wife and I drove to the beach just for the day yesterday.  Our goal was to relax and avoid people as much as possible, and we succeeded.  We packed a picnic lunch, found a nice picnic table by the beach and had a wonderful time.  We went to a more secluded location where we knew there wouldn't be crowds.  Interestingly, we drove by the most popular beach in Oregon and it was very crowded.

Today's plan is to be at home and try to stay out of any drama or trouble of any kind.  Relaxing is important!

  5. Yearly visual field test completed. Back in a couple months for my regular eye exam.

  6. Has there ever been a CLOCKWORK ORANGE based videogame? If not WE NEED IT! Not sure what genre, RPG? SURVIVAL HORROR? How about in VR? Think of the glorious possibilities! 😆😛 OK maybe its just me that wants this....🤷‍♂️

It would kind of take the Grand Theft Auto genre to a higher level.

  7. Life is funny, I recently posted about finding a nice BLUE KONAMI JUSTIFIER GUN FOR SUPER NINTENDO in my collection storage but disappointed to find it was only for one game Lethal Enforcers, my curiosity got me, sure I can just load the game on my Everdrive but wondered if I had an original cart. After going back and double checking I can confirm I don’t have one, I DO have this game however….yep you guessed it, I don’t have a Super Scope because of course I don’t 😂🤷‍♂️

My first thought but I doubt it as I could only find the Justifier Gun as compatible with Lethal Enforcers, plus the gun seems to plug right in the controller port where as the Super Scope has it's own sensor, I am sure it would have been mentioned somewhere in my searches if it were so simple, if that were the case no doubt most would just choose the gun! THAT ALL SAID, I WILL STILL TRY IT LIKELY AT SOME POINT BECAUSE I'M SILLY LIKE THAT.

    3. RickR

      RickR

Good point.  I forgot the super scope was a little different.

    4. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Always found the idea of the Scope odd, like, being Nintendo and obviously shooting games but was the idea Its totally not a GUN ! Nope, NO GUN, IT'S A SCOPE! A SCOPE I TELLS YA !" 😆🤷‍♂️

  8. So, going through some storage boxes I find a nice blue Konami Justifier pistol clearly for the SNES, I was pretty excited but after some research it seems the ONLY compatible game if LETHAL ENFORCERS? REALLY? Seems like such a missed opportunity! 😮🙁

    1. RickR

      RickR

Maybe it's just me, but I don't recall a lot of accessory controllers on the SNES.  Super Scope is the only one I can think of.  I wonder if your pistol works with the super scope games too.

    2. Justin

      Justin

I agree! Always thought they could've done more with the Konami Justifier, and even more so with the Super Scope Six!

Yes, that's pretty bad. A couple of years ago (I think) when we had the smoke and soot from the BC fires make their way to Puget Sound, it looked like straight out of the apocalypse. I thought it was snowing in the summer, and it was ash.

  11. Red sunrise this morning from our balcony because of the surrounding smoke due to all the surrounding BC wildfires currently going on throughout BC and the Okanagan Valley. 😛

      RickR

Do you guys have an air purifier inside your apartment?  I have a couple of little desktop units in our house, and they work very well when the wildfire smoke gets really bad.  They are "HEPA" rated, but the nice thing is that the filters can just be vacuumed and re-used.  I have such terrible allergies, and those things really help in keeping the air clean.

And PS - how is your eye?

Thanks guys, the eye is better mostly but the original eye issues and source of problem still not really resolved, trying to stay calm and deal with it daily. It is frustrating.

I'm sorry, man.  Seems perfectly normal to feel as you do.  Aging is just a series of one indignity after another, isn't it?

Don't worry too much, I'm sure all will be well.  And hopefully you'll be able to see better after it's done.

Good luck!  I'll be sending good vibes your way.

Thanks so much, I avoided Googling as you know that tends to bring the most horrific results to the top BUT I am glad I did as the articles I read seem to indicate a painless procedure for the most part, a topical applied to the eyelid for freezing so the draining is painless. From what I read their can be minor bleeding due to eye structure so most of the annoyance or discomfort is after the procedure and the healing process but I can deal with that, normal recovery type stuff I am fine with, considering all I have gone through with my eyes the last several months that is the least I am worried about but I am relieved some about the initial procedure now. I will be glad when it is over with.

How do you like it?  The big question will be, is it fully compatible with Windows 10 & drivers, etc... I am going to wait and see how well it is received...

    3. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Well, on a consumer level you are best to wait until it’s officially released rolled out as an update, it is an early release not meant for consumer use, nobody is advised to install this as their daily driver let alone update to it at this time. It’s for tinkerers like me to fiddle with but that said everything seems fine so far, no hiccups, it is really just the look/design/layout so far, literally Windows 10 with a new skin. Still, seems snappy, using little resources, personally I like it so far. I think it will be a while before anyone sees any real new features or changes to the core.

  18. Some sushi, a beer and then a nice long nap. Oddly, five days after my Pfizer vaccination I think I felt a few affects today, in the span of about 10 to 15 minutes I had dizziness / lightheaded, hot flash, instant poop, not diarrhoea thank goodness but let’s just say it all came out rapidly (fear not I was already on the toilet) dry heaves but I didn’t  throw up thankfully, tingly feeling in my hands and forearm, and afterwords all my symptoms seem to subside as quickly as they had hit me. Physically now Feel perfectly fine, we had to run around and do a few errands I just feel, you know, out of sorts, like not fully focused, that floaty feeling, like that out of body type experience where you feel like you’re seeing through the eyes of somebody else but otherwise fine. No more nausea no more sweats, so yeah I will finish this and just have a nice long nap and then I’m sure once I wake up and I will feel my old self again.

I have another friend who had the same thing happened.  Quick flash of symptoms about 5 days after the shot.

I hope you feel 100% quickly.  I say it's worth it.  For me, it was about the same as the Shingles vaccine.  Just a day of feeling slightly flu-ish.

First shot 5 days ago - UPDATE : Well after this I slept for like 12 hours, got up a couple times to pee, considered getting up half way but thought well, I will just lay down again and see what happens and yeah seems I needed more 😆so roughly 12 hours sleep but I think I am back to my usual self now, no more brain fog or out of sorts, just needed proper rest to recover. Hope it's over at least until the next Pfizer follow up shot, 🙂

  19. I've not slept in about 21 hours! No real reason, just having one of my weird stints. 😆 I'll likely crash in the next couple hours.
