    3DS Help

I would probably take it out myself. I wouldn't want to send the whole thing, either. It hasn't worked in four years and there's not much worth salvaging, but it's still my first 3DS. I don't think I could part with it. I think @RickR is right. That thing looks like a pain in the a$$ to remove. Hey, I'm not the only one who stores things in Nintendo lunch boxes! Woo-hoo! My SNES themed lunch box houses my Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance collections. I also keep the good old Super Game Boy in there, along with special, Harry-created color codes for all the OG GB games to play on it.
  2. Depends on the emulator, I guess. I have been using the same emus since 2011. This Odyssey 2 one is still version 1.0, from 2009 or 2010. I am not sure how much these are being updated anymore. The Wii’s not young. However, there exist several different emulators for a lot of the systems, and some are clearly better than others. What system emus are you looking to improve? I heard Wiimednafen is pretty good. It’s a combo emu, and it supposedly is quite good at everything it does.
  3. Good news, all! I fired up the o2em emulator on my Wii! Now I can play some O2! It’s not perfect; sound sucks and colors are slightly off, but it will be nice before the actual O2 arrives at the store, whenever that might be. There’s also no Voice emulation, as expected. My dad is pretty hyped! We are going to play some Football!, Basketball!, War of Nerves! and others later tonight. I also got MAME, for some Elevator Action and DK3.

    3DS Help

I know I have the XL model, but I assume the port is the same size and would most likely fit in your normal-sized 3DS. This is that same style, correct? Make sure to tell me if this is the one, @Atari 5200 Guy, and I will see if we can’t get this heading your way. I believe all of the 3DS ports are universal, and are also the same as the ones on the DSi. The Lite and OG DSes have their own separate chargers that won’t work with any other DS.
  5. Edmund Fitzgerald sunk 45 years ago today. We watched the little memorial thing virtually. And yes, I played the song. What a tragic tale.

Think I watched a Documentary of this on the History Channel. and heard the song on the radio quite a few times.

    3DS Help

My friend has a similar problem with his. Get one of those “wireless charger stands”. They aren’t really wireless, but I can’t think of a better name for them. Google “3DS charging stand” and you’ll probably find one for sale someplace. It will help. And yes, my port is the same. I will take a look, but I have a broken 3DS. It’s shot, but the port works. I’ll see if I can’t salvage that for ya, @Atari 5200 Guy. I will dig it out and take a closer look tomorrow. No promises, but it might just help.
  7. First off, DON’T GET A SWITCH LITE! The Switch is infamous for controller failure, like the 5200. It is not easily fixable and you would most likely need to buy new controllers. The Lite uses the same controller design as the Switch Joy-Cons do, so it’ll only last about 8 or so months (how long it lasted for me) before starting to “drift”. Nintendo is currently getting sued over this. If you get a Switch, get a Pro Controller or, if you don’t mind, wired controllers. They are much cheaper than constantly replacing the Joy-Cons. The wired ones are only about $20, but the Pro is a bit more. It won’t work too well for on the go gaming, but they are definitely worth having around for a way to at least play the games in some capacity. As for “family style” games, Nintendo has your back. Might I recommend Luigi’s Mansion 3 for you and your wife to play together? That’s very fun in co-op. Mario Odyssey, not so much. Great game, but terrible multiplayer. If you are looking for a cheap co-op game, might I recommend Untitled Goose Game? I bought it on launch; love those feathery pigs and was super hyped to have a game based on them. It recently got a coop update, and my sister and I are loving it. The game is only about $20. Must have. And sadly, yes, you do need a paid online subscription. Switch Online’s service isn’t as good as the PS4’s or XBOX’s, but it’s only $20 a year. It’s worth it for the free SNES and NES games you get. You can also play Super Mario 35 (while it’s out) and Tetris 99, among others with peeps online. And I have heard the new Animal Crossing is fun, too. Haven’t played it yet, but I played a TON of AC: New Leaf for the 3DS and loved it. Still play it occasionally, and get sucked right back in!
  8. It all depends on what you’re looking for in a system. The system has more of the non-Nintendo modern games as well, and if you’d like to play a lot of those on the go, it’s your best bet. For me, it’s all about the Nintendo IP games. Luigis Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, BOTW.
  9. Yo, yo, yo! This is just the thread I was looking for. If anyone's looking for someone to play some NES and SNES games online, I'm your guy. NES Baseball, Super Tennis, Puyo Puyo, OG Mario Brothers; I'm up for it almost anytime. Especially Super Mario Kart. My dad and sister really hate that game, and I'd love to be able to play that with someone. Great game. I would play some more current multiplayer games, but I don't have too many. Smash Ultimate, Mario Tennis, Luigi's Mansion 3; that's about it. Still, I'd love to be able to play with some of you guys. Another thing: I will need to pick up Atari Flashback Classics someday. According to Google, that thing has online multiplayer! Finally, some portable, online 2600 action! And hey, I have a new phone that'll be able to run the voice chat app! My old phone was far too old. Anyways, here it is: SW-2371-3836-6316 Anyone else have a code they'd like to share? The more the merrier! But seriously, if anyone would like to play some Mario Brothers...
  10. Hey @Justin, I'm just wondering: Who is all signed up for @btbfilms76's giveaway?
  11. Probably wouldn’t be remaking it. It was based off a licensed Famicom game. Thanks
  12. How long have they been with the company? That kind of depends on what stuff I ask. If they have any knowledge on the early NES game Chubby Cherub, I would love to hear the story from someone who is with the company’s perspective. Interesting story, Chubby Cherub is. Also, what is your podcast called, @1Littlebeast? I will have to take a listen.
  13. I remember Family Feud before Harvey. The guy before him (don't remember his name) sucked. The Dawson era was pretty good, but I think that you're right that it wasn't nearly as good of a show as it was when Dawson hosted or before Harvey hosted. Of the two, it's very hard to find who I prefer more! Probably Harvey as I have watched him a lot more and it's pretty hard to imagine the show after he inevitably leaves. As for Jeopardy, yeah, it's going to be hard after Alex is gone. Unlike a lot of the Family Feud hosts or Millionaire hosts, Alex was there for eternity. It was basically his show. When people think of the show, they think of him. It's going to be the same show, sure, and it'll probably still be watchable. But it won't be the same. So, yes, it's the host. In most cases at least.
  14. That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life! What did it do? I honestly can't think of a use for this thing! I know that if you push the stop button on a DVD player and take the disc out, it will resume to the same spot in the film that you pushed stop at when you put the disc back in the player. You need to push stop twice to get the DVD to fully reset and go back to the beginning iirc. But that's only for individual DVD players! It's not like a tape that will play at the same spot if I put it into a different VCR. Honestly, what's the purpose of this thing?
  15. What systems do you have up currently? I'm surprised the 7800 is put away. I'd keep that one out so you could play 2600 and 7800 games on it. Two birds with one stone. But if I remember correctly, you have the 2600 Junior out at the present? That's a good way to save space. Plus, you have a lot more games on the 2600 than the 7800, so you aren't missing too terribly much. The O2 looks like a lot of fun. The library looks fun. The Voice seems like a nice thing to have. It's a lot cooler than the Intellivoice, that's for sure! Has anyone made a homebrew of Berzerk for the system yet that uses the voice? That would be awesome. If I ever get an O2, Voice, and that speech synthesis cart (Type and Tell I believe it's called), I'd type in a few of the phrases just to see how they would have sounded on The Voice. "The humanoid must not escape!"
  16. @nosweargamer, please, PLEASE make a video of your Voice screaming in agony while playing Frogger!
  17. I've been playing a lot of the 7800 recently, so I feel I am finally worthy of making one of these lists of my own. This list is dedicated to fellow 7800 noobs. For anyone wanting to get into Atari 7800 collecting, I have compiled a five-cartridge "starter set". These games are cheap and common. Here are my personal picks for the Official HDN Starter Set, in order of importance: Food Fight Xevious Choplifter! (make sure it works with your system) Desert Falcon Ms. Pac-Man There were a lot of games I wanted to ad but just didn't have room for! These games aren't necessarily in my Hall of Fame, but these are easy-to-find and cheap. You'll get a lot of fun out of these cartridges. Honorable mentions that I didn't include for various reasons: Commando Donkey Kong Hat Trick One-on-One Galaga Centipede Crossbow Dig Dug And many more! Happy gaming! I'll update my Hall of Fame soon, as well as my "Trash" games. I also plan on giving away some duplicates at some point (hopefully soon), but I don't know when I will be able. Please look forward to it.
  18. Hey, I didn’t know you were from around these parts! Which state? @zgillet, what are some of your favorite games/systems? I love the SNES, 7800, 2600, 3DS, and the entire Game Boy line, just to name a few! Super Metroid is my all-time favorite game!
  19. Ooh! Something to look foreword to. I plan to do a Christmas giveaway myself someday soon.
  20. A very happy birthday to @RickR, and a happy belated birthday to @LeeJ07! Best wishes.

Thanks so much!  And a happy birthday to Lee.

It has been an interesting year, but I'm thankful for all the friends here on the Atari.io forums.

      LeeJ07

      A belated thanks, @HDN and @RickR.

It was pretty uneventful, but I did get some gift cards, so I have a mini shopping spree in my future.

  21. The Elevator Action 2600 prototype is pretty bad, though it had potential if they kept working on it. Impressive for the hardware.
  22. Welcome, welcome, welcome, @zgillet! Hope you enjoy your time here. Never played DOOM. I considered picking it up for the SNES a while back, but decided to get some Atari stuff instead (I splurged a bit for Tunnel Runner) and a few GBA games. I also learned that the SNES version isn’t considered to be that great, and it’s a bit pricey.
  23. I am thoroughly enjoying my new, holiday-ified (Game)Room. A nice, peaceful, and relaxing place to binge NSG’s and CGR’s Odyssey 2 reviews.

      O2 Frogger looks pretty good!

  24. I know the one on the left is undoubtably has a blurry version of the Atari Berzerk art, upside-down. For what system, I don’t know. I know @Willie! is a big fan of the game from his videos! As for the right cart, a complete mystery. Something for the XE, but I can’t make out the title of it. I am fairly sure I know where the Pong 2600 Mini Paddle thing came from...
  25. I was thinking maybe a series of unlisted YouTube videos posted in their own, dedicated I/O thread. Finding all of the clues in the videos. Maybe make four or so videos and post one a week. The contestants would have to find the hidden clues in the videos and put them together when the contest is over. Something that would last the whole season. I'd have to think about how I'd tackle this; I'm just spitballing here. I'll also have to get a way to pay for shipping. With my calculations, it would cost me about $7 for the games to be shipped. I'm looking forward to paying forward the kind donation of 7800 games from @cjherr and the surprise bonus copy of GORF (which I recently learned is FROG spelled backwards) kindly sent to me by @chas10e when I bought some other games from him. It isn't much, but it's the most I can do at the moment. It'd be a fun little contest I would think. Give it a nice, holiday theme. A few puzzles to solve, clues to find, games to win. "The SwordQuest of Atari.io... with a prize worth a lot less!"
