It seems this guy and Atari are linked. I don't think these were unlicensed hacks either. Could they have bought the rights to the games like Atari did with some red label games like Q*Bert and Donkey Kong?

Good for you! Personally, I'll stick with the Game Boy, but to each their own.

I don't have a 3DS. Looking at videos of the game, it looks cool. I have the Flintstones BurgerTime game, though. 🙂 I like that this Deluxe game gets colorized on the GBC and GBA.
I highly recommend you purchase a 3DS, if for nothing else than to play Metroid: Samus Returns. Speaking of M:SR, another great GB game to have is the original version of that game, Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Interesting. I was reading one of the links showing the worst 2600 games and Gangster Alley (aka Task Force as Froggo called it) wasn't even on there. That game sucks!

Yes, forgot that Starmaster uses the switches. Game compatibility/playability gave me the perfect reason to get a 2600, and I'm very happy to have gotten a six switch 2600.
I own two 2600s, both four-switch models: vader and woody. I use the vader model mostly. It matches my desk and I've always liked playing 2600 with the joystick set down on a table or something.

@socrates63 You do not jump. You can move left and right on the joystick to move your arms from vine to vine, kind of like a horizontal Crazy Climber.
Here's a tip: you can climb faster while holding 2 vines but descend faster only holding 1.

I didn't even know there was a BurgerTime Deluxe for the GB. I'm checking that out!
I believe it's $3 on the 3DS eShop if you have a 3DS

I actually prefer using the sixer with its switches over the buttons and switches on the 7800.
I can totally understand that. Buttons do kind of suck. Plus, I've heard you can't play games like Starmaster that use the B&W switch.

Nice collection, dude! If you are looking to streamline your Atari things, I would recommend moving your 2600 somewhere else and just playing the games on the 7800. Maybe hook it up in a different room so you can play in more places. That's what I plan to do when I get a 7800 someday. What kind of 5200 do you have?

I haven't reviewed yet, but Burgertime Deluxe is really good for BT fans.
I need to add that to my collection. Speaking of revamped arcade conversions on GB, I heard that version of Lock & Chase is pretty good as well.

It's speculated that Froggo was mostly a one man show with programming know-how trying to make a buck off of the revitilized game market in the late 80s
This somewhat reminds me of Micronics. They were a ghost developer that were involved in several terrible NES arcade conversions like 1942 and Ghosts n Goblins. People have also speculated this was a one man operation as well.

@Justin I respect your opinion. However, the fruits never were a big problem for me. There aren't very many enemies at the same time in this version, much less in the same vertical space. To me, the fruits were all about multi-enemy combo bonuses. There would be little incentive to using the fruits in this game even if they were there.

Today I am going to attempt a repair on my 1979 Entex electronic Soccer game! I've had this thing forever and it's been broken for as long as I can remember. One of the directional buttons functions intermittently. I think it needs a good scrub with some rubbing alcohol. I've fixed similar problems on NES and Atari 2600 controllers before. Wish me luck!

@RickR Donkey Kong is great! People say it doesn't increase in difficulty, but I've found that after a while the barrels move a little faster and the fireballs move more erratically. The barrels don't matter much because I believe the game only ever has one per girder, but the fireballs in the later levels are devious!

Donkey Kong Jr. is infamous for being a terrible port, though I don't think it deserves it. The graphics aren't great(Junior looks like a bootleg Homer Simpson and DK has a cardboard box for a head), and there's no fruit to drop, but I feel it is a good enough port for 1983. What are your thoughts on this classic Nintendo arcade game's VCS port?

Froggo licensed out other companies games and repackaged them for the 2600, but turned it around and made original titles for the 7800? It reminds me of how Majesco licensed the Sega Genesis to make the Genesis 3. What was up with this crazy company? Let's talk about it.

This guy is doing a chronology on the 2600 Jeremy Parish style. Thought some of you might be interested.
FYI I am in no way affiliated with this guy, I'm just a fan

@RickR Cool! I have never been to the west coast but I would like to someday! What I have been doing the past few years is going to see all the ones in my state whenever I'm near one. I have probably seen over 30 here

Back in the 90s, I gave away my original GameBoy, accessories and games to a little kid who was moving to Africa with his family.
Good for you! I hope he enjoyed it!

Wanted: lighthouse fanatics
I don't know why, but I've always loved Lighthouses. Here in Wisconsin, we have tons of lighthouses along lake michigan. I read somewhere a while back that Door County was one of the most lighthouse-dense places on earth, but don't quote me on that. I don't know, I've just always found lighthouses interesting.

I'm always looking for people to talk about my favorite band with. I love the Beatles! In fact, I even saw Sir Paul live in concert last year! If anyone wants to talk anything Fab Four related, just let me know!
