Atari XE / 8-bit

Not too fast now! I did get my TI out, but I haven't hooked it up. It's just too nice this weekend. I've been outside doing yardwork, riding my bike, etc. Just enjoying the nice weather while we have it. Also, I found myself with a huge stash of old pong consoles (and an RCA Studio 2!) that all need some help. And of course, my beloved Portland Trailblazers are fighting for a playoff spot. So I've been watching all of their games. I will try the sub command game ASAP. And then the North Korea. And I really want to spend some time with that Berzerk clone.

Do a search for "Sandrine" and "ScanX" for the Atari ST. It's been a long time, but I know I've had that same Umax scanner hooked up to an ST with one of those. It works with many different brands of scanner.

Also, the excellent Star Wars theme when you become invincible in "The Empire Strikes Back". It really does make you feel invincible.

NERD ALERT! Here's one of me in 1986.

Kind of....I have a custom cartridge version of "M.U.L.E." for the Atari computers. I bought it on ebay a long long time ago. Maybe 20 years. It was one of those things that once I knew it existed, I *had* to have it. I probably paid way too much for it back then. But MULE is one of my all-time favorite games. It remains one of my favorite items in my collection.

An addendum to my blog post with a bit more about me: I never had a Colecovision in the 80's. However, I drooled over them in the stores. I remember being totally blown away by the pack-in game "Donkey Kong" on the demo unit at my local "Payless" store. At the time, there was a choice for gamers for the latest system: The Atari 5200 or the Colecovision. As much as I love Atari, I would have chosen the Colecovision in a heartbeat. It had more unique games and they looked great. My next system after my Atari 2600 was the Commodore VIC-20, which I loved. I did get a CV about 15 years ago when I started retro-collecting. I was not disappointed. What am I playing on the Phoenix? My go-to on CV -- my favorite game -- is Frenzy. It's fun. It's challenging. And I really like the sound effects and graphics. I'm also revisiting a lot of the classic arcade games. Looping, Ladybug, Donkey Kong, etc. I like the games that don't take a ton of time investment. Next on my list will be some of the "Super Game Module" ROM files I have.

I will take a new picture of mine as soon as I've done a little 3D printing.

I printed it as a booklet too! And also the strip. I'm gonna want to know where that "Fire" button is!

For this second-run unit, the price was $200 + $30 shipping (from Canada). It has been a while, so I may be off plus/minus $10. I believe it is a fair price, and I'm sure the creators do not make much per unit.
