  1. I need to clean this one up too. I just wanted to make sure it worked before spending that time. I also printed out a PDF copy of the manual. It's similar to the Atari 2600 trak ball in that it has a switch for "Joystick" or "Trackball" mode. So that means it should work with any game. You've got a good idea...I'll try it out with some other types of games. I also like that it improves the joystick controllers so much. The base holds the stick in place, and you can use the buttons on the face of the trackball for joystick games. I mean to say using the stick while in the base and ignoring the trackball.
  2. I took a risk and purchased an "untested" Roller Controller on ebay. The gamble paid off, as it works perfectly. It also came with one extra joystick controller -- a bonus! I've been playing "Slither". It's a lot of fun. It's similar to Centipede really. Now I just need to figure out what other games would work well with the roller!
  3. A trio of Atari 2600 multi-carts.  Do you have a favorite?  Mine is the PlusCart because it has new stuff added all the time with no action needed by me.

Nothing stops you from buying the games still.  They still look good on display.  They will last longer if not used.  Heck, I have three of these things, and I bought a boxed Video Pinball today.  Put your worries away and have some fun.

Hey @RickR-- how do you update the firmware on the Unocart? Been having some problems with a few games (not the big homebrews like you mentioned, but other games) and figured I'd try that. Thanks.

Well, I'm glad you asked.  Because I just did it, and I had to learn.

First of all, check out what version is shown at the bottom of your screen.  Does it say "R.EDWARDS 17"?  If yes, you have the latest.  Since yours is so new, I'll bet you do.

In any case, you go here to get the latest, and there are instructions on what to do.  To summarize, you put an update file on the root directory of your SD card, and then the UnoCart will see that and have a menu choice for updating the firmware.  Choose that and BOOM...done.  Easy.

  4. Looks pretty wild! The Zamboni is going to have a lot of cleanup to do.
  5. Jackpot! Slot Machine is correct. This is another prime example of the box art way overselling the actual game. (apologies if I've repeated any of these. I'm old and need a memory upgrade).
  6. Copy/paste from the internet. I found it interesting to get an idea about the size of the Mars drone "Ingenuity": This is Bob Balaram, a key honcho at JPL’s robotics section, holding a life sized model of Ingenuity. The entire contraption weighs about four pounds here on Earth, so around a pound and a half on Mars. The two carbon fiber rotors are four feet long from tip to tip, and maybe 8-9 inches wide at their broadest point, yet they weigh less than 2 ounces—about as much as a chicken egg. . Had JPL tried to concoct a smaller helicopter, it would have never gotten off the ground. It had to have those broad, low mass “paddles” to generate the lift required in the almost nonexistent Martian atmosphere (1% of ours). That, combined with 2,400 rpm rotor speed and the extreme light weight was just what the doctor ordered.
  7. This is incredible. We truly live in a golden age.
  8. I bought a 3d printer!

Harry:  Please do send me those files.  I would love those for my shelf.

More importantly, I need some help.  I have no idea what I'm doing.  My first question:  what software do you use at school to create the model files?

One issue I've had so far is this:  I printed the bottom half of a Vectrex cart shell as shown above, and it came out perfect.  I think I may need to bump up the amount of filament used, but otherwise, very good for a first try.  But then, the top of the shell didn't work at all.  Why?  Because the Thingiverse file had the model upside down (flat side up).  I thought my printer software would automatically flip it, but it didn't.  And I tried to figure out how to flip it myself, but no go.

Of course, no obligation.  Maybe others here have some knowledge to share too.  I'm having fun learning something new.

      THANKS!

I'm new to it myself too, so maybe another member can help you with your Vectrex cart issue.

In school, we've been using this site called tinkercad. It's kind of a beginner's 3D modeling tool aimed for teaching it in schools, so there are others that are much more robust. But if you're first starting out, I highly recommend it. It's user friendly, easy to work with, all online, and most importantly free (to my knowledge). Might be worth a try-out.

PM me an email address you'd like me to use and I'll share those 3D print files with you.

      I will try TinkerCAD.  Thanks!

  9. That is a pretty sweet setup. Definitely worth what you're asking. It's tough, though. I get it. If someone is a TI collector, they probably have a lot of that already, though probably not as nice. Maybe selling it in pieces would be easier, but everything here goes together so perfectly, I'd have a hard time splitting it up.
  10. Atari 2600 - I thought this one would be too easy, but in looking at my crop job....good luck!
