  1. PS - I've met him already once at PRGE. I was first in line for one of his meet and greets and we chatted for a good long while until I felt so guilty for all those people behind me and I finally said goodbye. He won't remember of course, but I sure do. As you said, he's such a gracious person. An inspiration. Thanks very much for this post.
  2. THANK YOU! I'm still waiting for that new car. Hopefully soon. Then I can drive up.
  3. It's out now and readily available for the $19.99 retail price. The Sydney Hunter Collection The Sydney Hunter Collection brings together four great titles from CollectorVision Games, each originally released for a different classic retro gaming platform. Includes Sydney Hunter and the Shrines of Peril, Sydney Hunter and the Sacred Tribe, Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death, and Jester. I'm most familiar with the Collectorvision games for Colecovision, which are a lot of fun. Let us know if you plan on getting this one, and your opinion.
  4. A quick trip on a beautiful Saturday to the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville Oregon. It's about an hour drive from my home. This museum is most famous for housing the giant WWII Howard Hughes "Spruce Goose". I assure you, it is huge. Also a picture of the author on Atari Day with an Atari shirt, relaxing in an old airline seat, a delicious lunch at a place that serves sandwiches on fresh-made bread, a sweet late 60's Ford Falcon I spotted in a parking lot, and our current sweet ride too, which looked nice in the sun.
  5. I'll get a picture of my Stargate and Defender 2 carts later this weekend when I put "Earth Dies Screaming" away.
  6. I have several t-shirts ordered from Atari last year. The quality is really nice. Go for it with confidence. I like the look of that camp t-shirt, but I'm seriously considering the hoodie.
  7. S2:E5 Charades. We liked this one very much. Kind of rom-com and a lot of fun. I guess we are plowing through these (1 per day for the past 5 days), which is unusual for us. I think that speaks to how much we are enjoying this show.
  8. S2:E4 - Rigel 7! I liked this one, although it was a little goofy. I also LOVE they are keeping the show episodic. 1 hr stories.
  9. The original version also doesn't fill in the rooms as you complete them. It makes it seem a little bit unfinished. And does it show the treasure collection? I don't think it does.
  10. GREAT NEWS! I appreciate you keeping us up to date. I do worry! I will hope that things continue to improve in lovely BC.
  11. If it is any consolation, we're at AQI 55 here. It smells very slightly of smoke, and there is a haze very high in the atmosphere. I assume you can't see the flames anymore and that is good. And the fire fighters have the blazes more contained, right?
  12. Well, just to share my own status, I decided I don't need the 2600+ mostly because I game on a CRT. If only it had both HDMI and composite or svideo.... I love what Atari has done though. I may change my mind later. In the meantime, I *did* pre-order both Berzerk and Mr Run and Jump. Those are great deals with the box and I'm looking forward to trying them out in November! The other really cool thing to mention is the very reasonable shipping costs. $5 for those two games, or $12 for the console.
  13. Sign o the times -- checking the MSN weather site daily for air quality readings. I'm thinking about getting a meter for inside my home. Kelowna is showing a 38 as of now, but surrounded by bad air to the west and north. Hopefully, things continue to improve!
  14. I'll see what you guys are up to and join in if at all possible!
  15. I didn't know which came first. I wonder what made them change the name?
  16. Oh yes, my wife and I are loving this show! S2,E3 - Time travel! This one was the worst so far, but still good!
  17. The enemy speed seems to ramp way up once you get all the treasure I think. It's a great game!
  18. Datasoft "Zorro" on 8-bit.  An overlooked classic.

Nice. I never played this one.

I haven't either.  But I have quickly learned that Datasoft must have been one of the better third party developers.  Truth be told it is probably because of them some of the 5200 games were even made.

I've been playing more Zorro, and it is an interesting game.  It kind of reminds me of "Bruce Lee" in visual style, but it's definitely not as good.  It's more of a puzzle solving game, which is fine.  But there are issues:

      • The music repeats over and over and over.  It will get on your nerves.
      • Figuring out what to do is not very obvious.  I had to refer to on-line guides.  How the heck could any casual gamer back then figure any of this out?
      • Lots and lots of backtracking.  Take this object over there, but you also need this other object, and since you can only carry one at a time....go back and get it.

  19. I guess the waiting point for me is knowing if something like the Harmony cart will work on this new 2600+. If no, I don't think it's the right device for me. But I still may pull the trigger on it anyway just because it is so cool. Polymega seems to be a different thing....it would be adding all your 2600 games to the VCS right?
  20. Definitely both. If anything, the Polymega has a much bigger slice of my attention.
