  1. You guys, I'm going to create a "Share Your Vectrex Collection" thread, as we have some truly awesome stuff here for a very unique console.
  2. An update on my old laptop...I found the perfect OS for it... ChromeOS. Installing this turned it into a Chromebook, and you know what? It works great! I've donated it to a disabled gentleman who broke his old Chromebook. Anyway, if anyone else has a really old laptop, you might want to try the ChromeOS install to give it new life.
  3. Sometimes, I have a hard time overlooking that preposterous magic turbolift scene. 🙂 Looking forward to some new Star Trek! Thanks for the reminder.
  4. Items that I'll be listing on ebay soon. I'll mention them here in case anyone is interested and would like to buy now (and save me the effort and fees of ebay). Pictures available if interested.

    • Atari 1200XL - needs keyboard refurb. About 1/3 of the keys do not work. Another project I'll never have time for. Hoping to get $175 + shipping. Comes with power adapter.
    • Atari 1027 printer - No idea if it works...probably not as the old rubber heads on these disintegrate over time. Free for the cost of shipping.
    • Atari XEGS - works. No keyboard. There is a hole cut in the cover. I don't know what this might be worth. $80? Make an offer.

I did NOT buy a mini. I just have too many computers and need to downsize.

Thanks for sharing here @RickR! If these end up on ebay feel free to share your auctions in our ebay listings forum :nintendo_mario_1up:

  5. Enjoyable watch. Reminder to self that we should definitely nominate some of these games for future high score squad. @Justin, maybe a Genesis "Air Buster" / TG-16 "Aero-Blaster" double header.
  6. Looks very promising. Thanks so much for sharing the AtariAge link.
  7. Clearly these people never had teenage boys in the house.
  8. How could I forget "Rescue on Fractalus"? The theme music alone is worth the price of admission.
  9. OK, I consider myself an expert on the Atari 8-bit computers because I had one since 82 and love it still. There are TONS of great games, so it would be hard to give a limited list. Given that you know the 7800 so well, you should consider starting with the 7800 conversions. One on One basketball (more stark graphics, but faster gameplay), Karateka (absolutely a classic on 8-bit, but you'll need a keyboard), Ballblazer (faster than 7800 on OLDER technology), Donkey Kong (faster, better sound), etc. I think that will give you a great perspective on how well designed the 8-bits were. Beyond that and also beyond the great included games, you MUST check out Blue Max, Preppie 1 and 2, Archon, and many more.
  10. Fascinating. I wonder what kind of problem in the chip would cause it to "almost" work like that? Nice work fixing it!
  11. This one is a bit lowbrow from my usual postings...but too funny. I had to post.
  12. Way off topic, but I bought and installed the Toyota OEM roof rack cross bars. That solved the one issue I've had with this car...an occasional "whistle" from the roof rails.
  13. I also don't own a steam deck, but I think it's a really cool concept. But on the topic of emulation, I've tried so many different types of stand-alone emulation and end up disappointed in some way most of the time. Batocera Linux is my latest attempt, and it seems to be working OK. But little issues like how 7800 emulation puts the reset button as the triangle on a PS3/xbox controller by default. So you're having a great round, and go to hit hyperspace except you hit the wrong button and OH %!#$&! RESET! Exact same issue on PS1 Classic mod.
  14. She also could have used the technology to create some new crew members to replenish those they lost. After asking for volunteers of course.
  15. Saru is a great character -- probably my favorite in Discovery. Played by the great Doug Jones.
  16. I had it set up a while ago to play ST games (after I sold my real 1040STFM). But I have a different PC now. It took me a bit of time to get MESS up and running for 7800 "Beef Drop" challenge yesterday. I'll take a quick look later this week for the ST again. It isn't too hard. You'll need whatever BIOS files are necessary, and there are full archives of those on archive.org.
  17. MESS would. You can use mappings for ANY type of controller.
  18. This reminds me of when I first got married. My wife and I were saving to buy a house. We lived right next to a Fred Meyer store. So we'd buy the 3 packs of Fred Meyer take/bake pizzas because they were cheap. NOT like a Papa Murphy or what you might expect now, these were essentially about the same quality of frozen pizza only refrigerated. Anyway, once we finally bought a house....NEVER AGAIN with those lousy cardboard pizzas! 🙂
  19. I may have misread -- here's one I'll NEVER get tired of. 🙂
  20. I think Tuvix needs a hug more than any of us.
