  1. Very nice. For USA customers, the orig Fujinet is $80 + $6 shipping and comes with a 3d printed case. Yours is 70 Euro, which converts to $78. BUT -- they are out of stock and have a waiting list. I also like how yours can be used with C64. I shall give it some thought.
  2. The most fascinating thing about Ballblazer to me is how terrible it is on NES and C64. The original Atari 8-bit version is smooth as butter, and the 7800 version is pretty much identical. It makes me wish they'd have just put the dang POKEY in the console so all games could have decent sound and music. I can definitely see your point about the single player experience. I probably should rank it lower for that reason.
  3. I need to spend more time with the 7800. Here is my list off the top of my head. 7 - Donkey Kong - great fun but really grating sound 6 - Joust 5 - Centipede - the two player co-op mode is over the top fun 4 - Asteroids - the very best home version of Asteroids. 3 - One on One Basketball - the definitive version of an 8-bit computer classic. Really great controls. I love doing the 360 dunk in the computer's face. 2 - Ballblazer - your NES can't do this as well as the 7800 1 - Food Fight - So much fun. This game got the short straw getting ported to home systems.
  4. Oooh, this is a fun post. Very nicely done. I'm leaving portables off this list. Here is mine off the top of my head. Atari 2600 (7800) The 2600 is my all-time favorite. But why not choose the 7800 instead, which is really 2 consoles in 1? Atari 800XL I grew up with one and adore it. I still use it! I didn't include a 5200 in my list because this is essentially the same. Sony PS2 One of my all-time favorites due to the huge and varied library. Nintendo Wii Again, 2 consoles in 1 with the Gamecube compatibility. Nintendo NES Vectrex Sony PS So many good memories with this. I can't leave it off. Virtual Boy Truly underrated. They should have called it "3D Boy" as that's what it does. Nintendo SNES TurboGrafx 16 I love this thing and enjoy every game I've tried.
  5. Great score! I'm going to try more later this week. Every time we have a TG-16 high-score contest, I find myself enjoying this console far more than I ever expected. This game is so much fun. I love the bright colors and fast gameplay.
  6. This is an awesome post. Thank you for sharing this very important information. I had a similar issue on my Vectrex. After not using it for about a day, it would take about 10 minutes to power on. Turn the switch on, wait 10 minutes, and them BOOM, the console comes to life. After that (within the same play session), it would turn off/on normally. I found that leaving the switch ON and not touching it and using a power strip to turn the console on/off solved the issue, but that was a temporary fix. So I found a local expert to change out all the caps and also had them disassemble and clean out the switch. Now it works just right.
  7. Even if a grown person COULD fit, those flimsy metal brackets could never support the weight. Talk about a mission impossible!
  8. On my wife's desktop, I've put a bunch of Disneyland wallpapers, which she loves. Windows is set up to randomly choose every 4 hours.
  9. Grade A content, @Silver Back! You should consider creating a blog here on Atari.io with your 7800 reviews. Let me know if you need help getting started.
  10. I thought it was Pearl Jam's Eddie Cheddar
  11. I was an Atari kid that had a 2600 and then an 800XL computer. But I had never even heard of the 7800 until I started retro collecting in the late 1990's. I was pretty astounded at how good the 7800 once I actually owned one and played the games. To this day, I'm convinced THIS is the console Atari should have released instead of the 5200.
  12. Our local library has a "for sale" section where all books/cd's/DVD's are 50 cents and magazines are free.  Today, they had a big stack of Nintendo Power from 2010/11/12, so I grabbed three at random.

  13. Oh man. I remember doing very early web development on the NeXT and then on the power Macs. Feels like ancient history -- probably because it is. I know of a few web sites I worked on that are still using the old WebOjects code. I won't mention them because they are extremely vulnerable. Cheap SOBs. Beastly computers. I loved them.
  14. I'm finding this game alters my mind in other games. Like I'm expecting a delayed action when I press fire in other games now! Yikes!
  15. I took your reply as incentive to clean mine up a bit. It needed to be done. Before and after shots.
  16. I'm mostly envious of your shocking lack of desktop icons. I've avoided showing off my desktop wallpapers because the icons consume 1/3 of the screen. That's the way I like it, though.
  17. Those look nice! I'll just never understand why Atari skipped the end labels on 5200, 8-bit computers, and Jaguar.
  18. The machine is out and hooked up. I'll try to play sometime soon!
  19. Oh wow, this is a special one. I'm going to put my Jaguar away and get the TG-16 out for this. Great choice.
  20. I had this exact thought since the very first "demo" video was released. It totally looks like something on a phone or tablet. I didn't say anything for fear of being lambasted by the zealots.
  21. "Yesterday's Enterprise" was such a classic. It felt like the moment that TNG finally turned the corner into greatness.
  22. Two-Headed Ghost - silent but deadly
