  1. Phew! I'm glad a simple reboot was all it needed. As someone that works in the computer security field, I think it's critical to keep a good virus scanner active on all your computers (PC and MAC) given current world events. McAfee is a good one, and hopefully this one issue that probably wasn't their fault won't sour you. If it happens more than once, I wouldn't blame you for dumping them. There are several really good scanning suites, both paid and free. Use whichever you feel comfortable with and check out professional reviews on-line (PCMag and Consumer Reports are good resources for reviews).
  2. NFS-Hot Pursuit 2 on XBOX is one of my favorite racing games of all time. Nice pickup for $1!
  3. Awesome write up. I'm such a nerd that the minute I saw the symptom, I knew it was the 4050 chip. You've done a beautiful job on that repair. Using a socket and really nice soldering.
  4. Ha ha ha, thank you. I've been waiting for the weather to improve and I was going to try a bit of trick photography to make it look like a real Lamborghini in our driveway. That's why it's out like that. I paid $50 shipped for the AtGames legends mini, and I'm happy with it. There are a couple of methods for adding in more games, but I'm going to take my time with that. The idea of having all of the games I want available and ready on a big screen with booming sound is what compels me.
  5. Nancy keeps saying "Someone had a bad day". That was me, Nancy. Stop being passive-aggressive, Nancy.
  6. My score: +7 I'm playing on my atGames legends mini console, which arrived yesterday (it's on clearance sale at Gamestop.com). My goal is to load all my arcade favorites on this thing. NEO Turf Masters was the first one I tried adding and it works great.
  7. I've got one in zip format. But I cannot attach a zip file here or in messaging. PM me your e-mail.
  8. Little and big brothers!

I've decided to sell the 800.  I thought I'd better take a picture of them together before I do that.  I'm going to try selling it locally to prevent damage in shipping.

  9. I agree! A way-too-happy ending. But I think they did this on purpose. Kind of like how Ted Lasso was so popular for being very positive during a dark time for most people, I think Disco season 4 took on this same approach. A show for modern times. We saw it over and over: "We can do this", "It's ok to be a bit broken", "Let's talk about it". It will be interesting to watch this again in 10 years to see how it holds up.
  10. OK, I'm finally caught up. Picard #3 was watched last night. <SPOILER ALERT> read at your own risk if you haven't watched yet. I liked episode 3! It had a lot of borrowing from Star Trek IV. The sling-shot effect looked good and they didn't overdo it. I love Raffi's rage. Rios is in deep ca-ca Seven's subtle changes. The Borg Queen is so sinister! Overall, very suspenseful. I'm looking forward to episode 4
  11. My wife and I watched the Season 4 finale for ST:Discovery. We'll watch Picard tonight or this weekend. The Discovery finale was good! I won't post any spoilers. But they resolved everything in a very old-school Star Trek way. A few leaps of faith in the plot. And I'm so happy that @TrekMD was right! The most amazing thing about new Trek to me is the production values. The scenes of Earth are the the most cool and realistic we've ever seen (who remembers the missing New Zealand in ST:First Contact?). Anyhoo, the last two episodes form a really strong finish.
  12. Great review! What's interesting is how NONE of the home versions of Double Dragon really capture the magic of the arcade version. There's always at least one little issue that isn't quite right. Why? It isn't that complex of a game. Even on the 16 bit systems, they would try to enhance it a bit or change the controls or whatever.
  13. @Justincan you clarify? I assume the goal is to play all 18 (and using continues is fine) and then we just post our final score. On my first game, I got a game over at hole #5 and didn't continue. I will say this game is pretty incredible. The reaction shot and "report" at the end of each hole is fantastic.
  14. The Super Mario coin sets are on clearance at Bestbuy.com. I bought a couple to give to my children this coming holiday season (shhhh! Don't tell them).
  15. MameUI is available here: http://www.mameui.info/ They also have a front end called IVPlay that I don't like as much. I found it to be harder to set up.
  16. turfmast.zip I can message it to you if you'd like. For Windows, I think if you use MAMEUI, it comes with all the bios and mame files you need -- all you do is unzip the file into a directory of your choice, drop the ROM files into the "ROMS" directory, and it just works.
  17. Tomorrow evening will do it for me.
  18. Alt-Picard doesn't just say "shut-up"!
  19. Nope! I have "Top Player Golf" on mine, but I think that's a different game. I think I'll try MAME instead.
  20. Regrets -- give them thought for just a moment then move on. Who is to say that something else may have happened to impact those items? Like a robbery or fire or whatever. And in a case like @Atari 5200 Guymentioned, helping with Grandma's needs was absolutely the right thing to do. And as @Silver Backalluded to...hindsight is 20/20. At least balance out any regrets with your victories...like getting any items you have now for a lot less than what they are worth now or selling things off at a market high (like Adventure carts during the "Ready Player One" craze).
  21. That's what I'm doing. The cart looks good on a shelf.
  22. Congrats @datafry and everyone else who participated! We simply cannot go wrong with an Activision high score contest (well, maybe Laser Blast...) I had a lot of fun with this one. It wasn't a game that I'd given much of a chance before this. Thanks @Justinfor choosing and hosting!
