I have never been great at Turbo Sub but I've always found it fun.

Gauntlet is decent but as you say, it's not really Gauntlet.  It was interesting to get the background in your video. I never knew it was just rebadged Epyx developed Gauntlet clone.

Super Asteroids/Missile Command is a terrific late release for the Lynx. I love how they updated the games. Of the two, I find that Missile Command has a bit more depth. One of my top games on these system.

@btbfilms76, thanks as always for another entertaining installment!

I’m guessing where Gauntlet really shines is when all your buds are Lynked together and you’re all playing together.   That would have been a super cool scene back in the day.

  2. 🎬 Atari Lynx Arcade Oddities drops today on Lynx Lounge. We come to the end of our arcade port block, but three very strange games remain. Gauntlet the Third Encounter (1990), Turbo Sub (1991) and Super Asteroids and Missile Command (1995) are indeed arcade titles, but are they ports, or something different? Let's find out:

  3. 🎬 Tournament Cyberball drops today on Lynx Lounge. Do you like Football - American Football? Do you like robots? Would you like to see those Robots playing Football In the year 2072? Would you like to take it on the go? Well have I got a game for you.... New episodes coming all summer long:

Hey BTB. Long time follower and love your content.

Gave this game another shot after having it at the back of my stack of lynx games and am thoroughly enjoying it.

The after experimenting I had no idea you can change to the cockpit view and had access to dumb-fire missiles.

Everything works pretty smooth as always on the Jag and after your review, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite titles.

Its a tie with Battlewheels.  😬

Thanks again for the great content.

    Thanks for tuning in 💯

I always fly outside the cockpit, but how awesome that all these years later we can dust these games off and get some enjoyment out of them.  Ive been really enjoying sharing all my games with you all, especially knowing that theses were all the games I worked my butt off mowing lawns to buy with my own money back in the early 90’s.

Ill get to Battlewheels soon 😎

    And thanks for watching.

I was just watching some of the video and Atari really just built a great name for themselves back in the early 80s... It's too bad they never consolized the "Atari System 1"; at one time I use to think that the 7800 was Atari attempt to bring arcade games like Road Blaster and Indiana Jones to the household until I researched the history. I would love to home-brew for the Atari System 1 and did some search on the hardware, but it looks like some has already manage to pull off something on the old arcade hardware.

GCC were responsible for the amazing arcade games on the 7800.  If things would have worked out - the big IF, the 7800 would have came to market in 1984.  The arcade titles on the 7800, like Food Fight, Ms. Pac Man, Dig Dug would have blown anything out of the water back then.  I pictured it like this - Remember when we had our NES at home, then the Neo Geo home system showed up and you could actually play arcade perfect games in your living room... If the 7800 came out in 84, thats what it would have been like.  Atari’s Arcade division came out with some of the best arcade experiences of my life time, I loved playing them back in the day, and love playing them now.

  6. DEFENDER 2000 drops today on The Jag Bar. This is the first new episode of The Jag Bar since the Cybermorph Christmas Special in December 2016! The Boyz play @an ox Jeff Minter's Defender 2000 on the Atari Jaguar.  Four Defender games in one - Defender 2000, Classic Defender, Defender Plus and Plasma Pong. Make sure you’re subscribed. Big shoutout to @Atari Creep and everybody who made it to the livestream of the filming of this show (see my post above). New episodes coming all summer long:

  7. I remember this well.

My uncle - Uncle Bud, owned the Melody Lane Roller Rink in Hookstown PA.  On summers there we spent a lot of time in the rink, in the arcade and at the snack bar.  His house was on the same lot as the rink and downstairs in the den/bar room was one of these projectors. I thought it was the coolest thing to see an image that big on the wall.  But if memory serves me the picture was not that great and there was a lot of futzing in order to get it just right - plus a dark room was needed.

Hello!  I am new here and found this forum by searching for help on LCD replacement for roadblasters.

I have owned 3 Atari system 1 machines and one of them has a bad monitor.  I want to get the old RGB monitor out and use a VGA converter and replace the monitor tube.

    Couple questions

    -          Looks like the old RGB connector into the tube would not work since the wire pinout order is different.  So did you just cut the wires and re-solder them in that order.  From bottom up Red, Green, Blue, Black and Brown.  Other 2 wires V and H synch just leave out?

    -          I assume all over plugs into the old monitor besides those 5 wires won’t be needed anymore.

    -          How did you power the convertor and monitor just use an external power supply?

    -          Also what monitor did you use?  To fit in the machine.

    -          Is it easy to adjust the monitor to fit?  Picture and mounting

    -          Is it possible to get a couple more pictures posted for reference?  The more the better also would love some pictures of what wires go to the power switcher.

Thank you and great work.  I really enjoy Roadblasters and would like to give this machine some life.  I wish my machine had a newer style power switcher.  That may be my next project on this machine.

I won’t be doing this for a bit, since the machine is not near me.  But I am collecting the parts and info for when I dig into it in the next couple months.

Also this is a great forum!  Good stuff

    Hey there!

Glad you found the article here as this information is spread out all over the place and I wanted to highlight the work I was attempting to do, and keep it all on one sight.  As for your questions.

    - Leave out the V & H Sync solder the rest just like in the pic.

    - old monitor plugs wont be needed

-re wire the NEW power converter as stated on the front lable, it gets the power from another converter on the board. And the monitor s its own power supply, plunging the cabinet and monitor into one cable

    - I believe its a 19” dell any 19” or 20” 4X3 monitor will work

    - I used some cheap metal strips from Home Depot to make the bracket, most monitors have screw holes in the back for the stand or mounting, just use those, with a few washers you should be set.

Good luck!  Bring your machine back from the brink and give it some life.

I will try to find some time to post some more pice soon.
