My wife and I have a tradition of going to the movies every New Years Eve, Episode 7 will be our pick for this year and we figure some of the hype will have died down by then lol, besides what a way to bring in the New Year!

There's an interesting, albeit most likely false, rumor going around that Luke Skywalker is the masked Kylo Ren, or perhaps Ren's teacher. Could Luke have finally given into the dark side with a desire to finish what his father has started?  :o

I think there's a chance that Luke could have fallen to the Dark Side but he's not Kylo Ren.

- Why Dark Side Luke could be possible:

Lawrence Kasdan has writing credits for The Force Awakens. I just learned this little nugget the other day:

Now there was a time when George Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan came together and thought that maybe it was a good idea for Luke to turn over to the dark side shortly after Vader takes off his mask in Return of the Jedi. Lucas proposed this dialogue to Kasdan:

“Luke takes his mask off. The mask is the very last thing — and then Luke puts it on and says, ‘Now I am Vader.’ Surprise! The ultimate twist. ‘Now I will go and kill the [Rebel] fleet and I will rule the universe.”

Surprisingly Kasdan actually liked his idea and responded saying, “That’s what I think should happen.”

- Why I'm confident he's not Kylo Ren:
We've seen Kylo Ren without his mask & it's clearly Adam Driver, not Mark Hamill:

Regardless, I think it's great that we're going into this movie with so little knowledge of what's going to happen. We'll find out in 57 days!

For a regular show, not 3D? That's insane!

The $14.70 is for either IMAX 3D or the Real 3-D Star Wars tickets (at my local AMC).

The Original Star Wars trailer, as shared by our friends at The Retroist:

One thing the old trailer made me realize is just how much the John Williams soundtrack made a difference in the film. I could barely hear any background music and without the proper soundtrack, the film by itself took a pretty big step down in quality, almost like it was just another run of the mill sci fi movie.

Less than a week away & the hype train is crazy! I may need to avoid all social media next week, especially since the premier is Monday (I believe) and it opens internationally early as well.

I'm assuming that this thread will remain spoiler-free? I'll create a new thread for those that have seen it to discuss.

It's almost incomprehensible that I'll be sitting in the theater watching the sequel to Return of the Jedi 8 hours from now.

It was hard to believe when the movie was announced & that all the original main actors would be reprising their roles. And the the loooooong wait since then. I never thought today would actually get here.

But here we are...
