Pixels Review

Me and a few friends went to see Pixels. Everybody hated this movie except me and my friends. I really liked the references and the whole story in general. It seemed that it was meant to be cheesy dialogue and very simple storyline. We were yelling out the references though out the movie and my friend who doesn't give good reviews gave it a very good review. The people that review movies to death really analyze movies too much. Don't listen to the reviews. Give your own opinion.

DISCLAIMER: I liked the Super Mario Movie. Most people don't like it so yeah.

Good review Leo.  I think a lot of reviewers that pan this movie really don't like Adam Sandler to begin with, so there's no way they are going to give a positive opinion.

I'm definitely going to watch this one, but I'll probably wait to rent the DVD at home.

I'm still on the fence about seeing this one..........

Adam Sandler has become an easy target for critics and hipsters alike.   Partially earned from some bad offerings, but largely unfair I'd argue.

The guy is living the dream.   Making movies he loves with his friends.    I want to see Pixels because I'm a nerd and I like (some) Adam Sandler stuff.

I'm not a big fan of Adam Sandler but I don't hate him. I will definitely give it a watch soon! Thanks Leo. :thumb:

Finally watched pixels last night.  It was amazing, if you are from the arcade era (as I am) or love retro games and maybe not the biggest Adam Sandler fan, but were back in the 90's with Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore (like I was) you will love this movie!  Check out wonder boys adult room, lots of cool retro stuff (i saw 3 commodore disk drives).

I finally got to renting it last night. There is a (can you believe it) movie rental store up the road from my residence and got a five day rental. Popped it in and despite all the negative reviews and harsh critics; I actually enjoyed it. True that I am not an Adam Sandler fan, but I thought he played a great role in the movie. I will be getting the dvd for my collection. Wished I could have experienced the arcade era from the early 80's as I was born in the Summer of '81.

I still haven't seen Pixels yet, but if you've seen the movie King of Kong, you'll love the new one coming out Man vs. Snake. Row and I watched the movie at a screening in Houston and its very similar to the Kong movie.

FYI - I finally watched Pixels after checking it out of the library. Watched it with my wife. I went in low.....very low expectations.

I very surprised to find it to be a fun "popcorn flick". Even my wife, who is not a gamer, was entertained. It's far from perfect. You could nitpick a few of the retro references (there are no cheat codes in :donkey_kong:), Kevin James is not presidential material and I wish it was more family friendly so I could have watched it with my kids, but it had a lot of neat references and even a mini lesson that modern gamers and retro gamers should get along.

Overall, I think most retro gamers will enjoy the film and that the marketing of the film was terrible! The ads should have focused on the game characters being a stars (sorry, Adam Sandler and his friends actually scared away the target audience) and the "Last Starfighter" style story rather then showing Pac-Man eating his creators hand (that should've been a surprise as trying to explain why :pac_man: is an enemy in 30 second spot doesn't work. It only confuses your target audience) .

I will also makes this controversial statement: I liked this movie more than Wreck-It Ralph. :wreck-it-ralph:

Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed all the retro game references and character cameos at the beginning of Wreck-It Ralph, but when it got into the main story, I found myself bored and missed seeing the retro characters. Pixels, on the other hand, held my attention throughout most of the movie.

I just watched it (checked it out from the library).  I liked it.  But I can see that it would only really appeal to gamers.  And you must turn off your brain.  But fun.  Thumbs up.

getting a tad OT & political here- in the future it's quite likely our leaders will be like that (*coughTrump*cough). Watch the movie "Idiocracy" sad but true that's the direction our country is headed.

& Pixels is now running on the STARZ channels on satellite & Im assuming cable TV. Im going to preview it tmw AM for my kids & "mistakenly" hit mute or FFWD at the naughty parts.

I think the choice of Kevin James as President was just fine.  It set the expectation to not take things too seriously.  This plot was strictly for fun...not for thinking.

While we're on the topic of casting...can we talk about "The Martian"?  Sorry to typecast, but I'm not buying one of the Dumb and Dumber guys as the head of NASA!  :)
