  1. Ever since I was about 8, I have wanted an Atari 2600 emulator for my Nintendo DSi. I have a hacked Wii with emulators, but since I was around 6 when it happened, I had no involvement whatsoever. Anyone know of a good one out there? I have tried in the past but I have been overwhelmed by all of the options. If someone could please help me that would be great! :) (Keep in mind the DSi is the one with the SD card slot)
  2. @Atari 5200 Guy So basically it's like watering a plant? The plant being the 5200 controller of course and the water being using the controller. Or perhaps how silver naturally tarnishes due to oxygen and you're just buffing it out by using the controller?
  3. @socrates63 No. All three on the top where the joystick is on the left of the controller. Sorry if my wording was a tad confusing.
  4. Pole Position Atari 2600 Difficulty: Default High Score: 59,360 August 19, 2020
  5. I played one of them once at a game store in Sheboygan, WI while on vacation last year. Was not impressed.
  6. Ah, I've heard of this before, I believe in an 8-Bit Guy episode. It's very interesting.
  7. Those Arcade 1up machines seem really expensive for what they are. If I could get just one, however, I'd be a fool not to get the Atari one with it's controller options not available on modern consoles.
  8. Having the joystick on the left would drive me mad after a very short while.
  9. Thanks, @CrossBow. I have stated previously in this thread that I was considering building an arcade controller for the 7800 someday. For the moment, I'm just going to stick with the Proline controllers.
  10. Painline controllers honestly don't look so terrible.
  11. Vultan's theme from Flash Gordon or is there also BGM in that version?
  12. @CrossBow Commando looks fun. Never played any version of the game. The nice thing about expensive 7800 games is that they're not terribly sought after. It's not like Commando is Little Samson or Stadium Events.
  13. @CrossBow AtariAge is an amazing site. From what I've seen these past few days their work on the 7800 is sublime. I hope to get KC Munchkin and Frenzy someday so I don't have to buy an Odyssey 2 and ColecoVision.
  14. @CrossBow I see you have Adventure II and is that a Sinistar proto repro?
  15. No. Actually looking at it again just now it's not near as bad as I remembered. It's painted a tacky shade of brown, and said paint is chipped in a few spots, but overall not terrible.
  16. On a somewhat related note to the original topic, be sure to try to beat my high score on Donkey Kong over at the Scoreboards!
  17. That's actually not a terrible idea. We have one of these in our basement no one has used for several years. It looks super ugly, but I'm sure I could fix it up a bit. There's also an old end table down there as well... I guess there's a lot more options than I thought!
  18. @CrossBow My 2600 is in my bedroom currently. I was thinking of putting the 7800 downstairs in the actual game room to spread the Atari 2600 goodness around the house.
  19. I've heard the controllers are garbage in many ways. Some say it's uncomfortable, some hate the analog, non self-centering joysticks, some hate the buttons always sticking, but most of all I hear of them breaking. How many of your Atari 5200 controllers bit the dust, and what are your overall opinions on the controller?
  20. Vanguard's great! Never played the 5200 version, but it looks decent enough.
  21. I was going to watch it last night. Ended up just playing more Atari. Typical.
  22. Who'd they sell it to? That's sad. That was always one of my favorites.
  23. @RickR thanks. I was just watching a video of the Sears Tele-Games Motocross Sports Center IV. If I had money for incredibly obscure dedicated consoles from the late 1970s, this would be the one I'd buy.
  24. @RickR Thanks. I'll have to try it again sometime tomorrow. Sounds like a game that would be better played with others.
