  1. And it looks like they finally did make a cartridge release based on the 1984 version in 1988 for the XEGS: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-crystal-castles_6045.html There are a few of these carts on ebay, but they are very pricey. It is rare I'd say.
  2. According to Atarimania, Atari created a version in 1984, but did not release it. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-crystal-castles_6045.html That being said, I remember having a version on disk back then. Probably downloaded from a BBS.
  3. Wait...how do you use S-Video? Some kind of mod to your systems? I just use the old yellow/white/red composite.
  4. I think mine is a "Funai", which is tremendously fun to say. "Foo-Nigh". I do love the flat panel TV's for their light weight and space saving. I keep that one CRT mostly to be able to play light gun games.
  5. I think that's your best video yet! I laughed, I cried, I marveled at the production values..... I've kept one CRT. A 13 inch beauty with a VCR built in.
  6. I can't wait for the NSG review of Supercharger Frogger. That game is pretty much perfection IMO. The best arcade port on the system.
  7. Very true...hindsight is 20/20.
  8. Ray Kassar, president of Atari from Feb 1978 through July 1983 passed away on Dec 10.2017. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sfgate/obituary.aspx?pid=187558023 I know many Atari fans have mixed feelings about the man, but he did oversee the golden age of Atari. And sadly, it's demise as well. It's fair to say he had good and bad leadership qualities. On the good side, he streamlined Atari and it's manufacturing processes. He added much-needed discipline and formality to the company culture. He kicked off the arcade port craze with the licensing of Space Invaders for 2600. Atari saw astronomical growth under his early leadership. On the negative side, he didn't seem to value the programmers that created Atari's games. If he'd given in to programmer demands for a little recognition and profit-sharing, it could have prevented the third party software craze that drove the crash of 1983. He was a prima donna, with long commutes with a driver to Atari HQ. I dismantled Atari's renowned R&D machine. He valued milking the 2600 for all it was worth rather than developing a better and more innovative gaming system. RIP Ray Kassar.
  9. I'm in! I'll try to get a score in soon. I've got my CV out and functioning!
  10. Here's my "Survival Island" story: I bought the game (mail order) after the crash. It came with no artwork and a tiny pamphlet manual. Once I had all the Supercharger games in WAV format on an MP3 player, I decided to sell this game. It was too valuable and too fragile for me to keep. So it sold for quite a bit of cash, and no regrets here.
  11. WOW! Well, glad to have you here. Pretty cool.
  12. More questions: What other games have you worked on? Thanks
  13. My Atarimax story is a little different. I actually bought the 128 in 1 from someone who was upgrading to the ultimate SD! So I got it for a little cheaper than normal (I think I paid about $70). It's been amazing. Frankly, this 32k limit is the first problem I've run into, and it's nothing really. The ability to add 128 games is awesome if you ask me. Just program it once, and don't ever bother with your carts again.
  14. Confirmed. US redirect is free too.
  15. Some notes on the Atarimax 128 in 1: The file size limit for each slot is 32k, so the larger files don't work. They do work, I'm told, on the newer Atarimax "ultimate SD" version. The "CoolCV" emulator includes SGM support, so the files do work there. The SGM is an interesting add on. It adds much better sound and additional memory. I've always thought that if Coleco had never come out with the Adam and had stuck to video games, they would have survived the crash of 83. An enhanced Colecovision would have carried them into the next gen, as the hardware (Colecovision + SGM) is very similar to the capabilities of the NES and 7800.
  16. Keep 'em coming as you find them. These are awesome. I foresee taking these files on my tablet on a plane or road trip.
  17. Nice. Keep on trying new things, young friend. Sounds good.
  18. Oh man, I can't thank you enough. These are great, and I downloaded all three.
  19. Lawnmower Man is a great choice, and it brings up an interesting idea. Would more movie tie-ins have helped the Jag library? It would have been an easy way to bring more "familiar" content to the platform. Maybe with a focus on the horror or sci-fi realm. Example: a dark-themed Bladerunner game.
  20. An Ikea picture frame makes a pretty nice cart display case. Added hooks to the bottom for the console keychains.
  21. I've been on a Wii run lately. 2600 "Airlock" is available for trade if anyone needs it.
