  1. Your homebrews are good! I think your web site looks really nice too. Very well done.
  2. It sucks. But it's a sign of the times. I talk about it often on Facebook. I call it "hidden inflation". From the YouTube side, there's just no way for them to recoup costs to manage. Everyone on the bottom is getting squeezed.
  3. Goofy? No way man, that's AWESOME. On my Atari 8-bit myide cart, I have a "demo" folder full of demos and music samples. It's just plain fun to see and hear this stuff.
  4. I think these look pretty nice. One question I have on the 77 and Genesis machines is this (I should probably make a new thread because it also applies to the NES and SNES re-releases too): What is the best option for displaying the HDMI output on an old CRT TV that only has composite input?
  5. Scott Adams of the famed text adventures. I find this type of thing fascinating. And it's so important to preserve the history behind those old original games. http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/scott-adams/ My first taste of the Scott Adams' adventure games were the VIC-20 cartridge versions. I think I had 3 of them. Made paper maps. Solved them all. I remember to start the games, you actually had to type in a SYS command to the VIC.
  6. Carmageddon TDR 2000 for free, but today only. https://www.gog.com/game/carmageddon_tdr_2000

    eBay Finds

I've got an extra "Amidar", but no Popeye I think that one is priced fine. Free shipping makes it good. Maybe a touch high, but it looks to be in nice condition.
  8. I think I have a few of the CV titles you seek. Do you also need an Intv "Thin Ice"? I have an extra. I'll take a look at my CV extras as soon as I get home.
  9. I feel like I've got bionic eyes now that I've had to get progressive lenses in my glasses. I even make the "nuh-nuh-nuh" bionic sound when I use the bottom part of my lenses.
  10. I have not refinanced a student loan. But I think you're pretty smart to see what your options are. My suggestion would be to check out the website for one of my favorite radio show hosts, Clark Howard. http://clark.com/ You'll probably find some useful information there, and can even send in this question to his support team for some advice. Good luck Dauber.
  11. It looks incredible! Great review.GD.
  12. Sweet 2600 chiptune demo:

      I love these chiptunes!

  13. You could swap it out. But I'd buy a new one. They are super cheap. Look on ebay. It would cause black screen issues. Unfortunately, the higher voltage *may" have taken a chip or two out with it. But try changing the regulator out and see if it works. In many cases, it does.
  14. That voltage regulator is the most common failure point that I've found. It should be putting out 5V. The good news is that it's a cheap part and pretty easy to replace.
  15. If it is the ribbon, replacing it with wires is going to be your best bet. You should be able to find connectors for the end of each wire that fit into the slot for each wire. But my guess is that it isn't the ribbon...if it was, how would the unit even turn on?
  16. From the great nosweargamer...Thin Ice and Bumper Bash.
  17. Please explain what the cabinet is?
  18. Oh man. Plutos and Sirius look really good! Missing in Action looks pretty bad IMO. So choppy and those limp sounds! Chuck Norris wouldn't need all those kicks and punches to defeat those lame dudes. Everyone (but Atari) knew that! Pit Fighter and Toki would have been awesome additions to the library of games.
  19. Not a thrift store, but my local library has a "book sale" area. I found two PS2 games (Madden 2003 and Tomy Clancy's Splinter Cell, both complete) for 50 cents each!
  20. "Marble Madness" is another game that would have been incredible on 7800. Especially if they offered a track-ball version. Or 5200 even, which had the excellent track-ball controller readily available. In fact, why no 5200 Crystal Castles??? Damn it, Atari! There's one great feature of the 5200 and that's how many games it had that supported the track-ball correctly. Space Invaders with TB is such a trip, for example. Even clunker games like Super Breakout become something special with that controller.
  21. PS - looking forward to your review. That game doesn't get the coverage or credit it deserves.
  22. It's always been a difficult game to get right IMO. The arcade version used a track ball. Home versions used joystick and are very difficult to control precisely. What would be really cool is if the 2600 or 8-bit version had an analog track-ball mode. But alas, no. A 7800 version would have been very cool indeed.
