  1. I think this is finally complete enough to share: I've put together a tabbed spreadsheet documenting major Sears and Atari 2600 game manual variations.  Sites like AtariMania, AtariBoxed, and VideoGameVariations are all extraordinarily useful, but I don't believe anyone has aggregated info on manuals like I've done here.  There wasn't a whole lot of variation going on with 5200 and 7800 manuals, but the 2600 is a different beast altogether.  A perfect example: including foreign language manuals/supplements, Combat has at least 8 major variants.

No, I'm not crazy enough (yet!) to track minor manual revisions...

Awesome work! It's nice to see someone else that is into "major" lists like myself!!

    here's my list:

  2. Officially, it will be on the rarities disc of his career-spanning box set coming out soon. He posted a video of it on Vevo.

I think I got my copy from Napster.

Yeah, the song was released years ago on the aforementioned Basement Tapes CD that you'd get with your Demento Society membership. (And I think you can still order it via The Demento Society.)

It's simply listed as "Bonus track by 'Weird Al' Yankovic." When I played the CD and heard the song, I thought the title was a way of dodging the "Apple Police," as some Beatles fans call 'em. But it turns out that Al's track on the next year's Basement Tapes volume also had the same title, but it was an Al original (don't remember which one off the top of my head), so I guess it might be that the list was made before they decided which Al song would make the cut.

That explains how I got it before everyone else! Thanks!

  3. I have a pacman but the battery box is rusted out :( When I worked at MGA we ripped off the concept with our Classic Arcade assortment...It didn't do so well but now I see other vendors with their versions...sucks to be ahead of the curve!

I dug out my TomyTronic Pac-Man handheld from the barn the other day. (pic below)

And got some nice high scores on the first try of both the AMA setting and the PRO setting:

    http://highscore.com/scores/DedicatedHandheld/TomyTronicPacManPro/56385

I even found a response letter from Tomy about when I inquired about an AC Adapter for the handheld Pac-Man too!

Then I pulled out my create of handhelds......... I have all 6 of your MGA Classic Arcades marigul! (see pic below) I love those games!!

  4. I'm an authorized editor for that Google Doc........ and list owner of this one: https://1drv.ms/x/s!ArXu52QZivTrgVbQayev1Wc1QprN

Those are just lists - not a bulk ROM download like I have above. I'm trying to do a better (and updated) ROM bulk download for the AFP than the only one we have which is here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/258970-atari-flashback-portable-compatibility-list/

  5. So I have this box of games that no matter how much I clean them, they won't work.

I honestly don't know what do do with them, and am considering just trashing them.

Does anyone have a use for them? I'd be glad to give them to anyone who would want to cover the shipping. They are mostly Atari, but I think I have a couple NES games too. I can post pics if needed.

And yes, I know AtariAge buys 2600 games for .50 cents store credit each, but they are picky on which ones they take and with the cost of postage nowadays, I'm not even sure if it would cover the cost to ship them. And even if I sent them the carts they'd want, I still would have several left over.

could save them for the future Atari.IO homebrew releases!!!  :)

  6. After working though the ROMs on the AFP (with others over at AA), I have gone thru and renamed the ROMs to the correct game titles, deleted games that do not work/can't be played, and added some homebrews - even added the hacks that have been made for the AFP!

As usual, download and unzip the file, put the ROMs in the first folder named "Game" on the SD card. It should load into your AFP with 67 pages (about 667 games in total).

Let me know what ya'll think ......any changes?

    Enjoy!

  8. Here's a list of game titles requested by gamers to be fixed/hacked to work on the AFP - hopefully some (or all) will be worked on, in the near future:

    Donkey Kong VCS

Defender 2 - Is there a way the smart bomb button from controller 2 be changed to a difficulty switch so it can work?

    Frantic

Galaxian - This is full of glitches.

Rally X - Maybe an earlier version can be hacked?

    Scramble

    Space Rocks

    Stay Frosty 1 / Stay Frosty 2

    Spy Hunter

    Star Raiders

    (any/all Starpath Supercharger games)

Berzerk - invisible wall removed to play

    Squish'em

    Raiders of the Lost Ark

    Merlin's Walls

    Cosmic Ark

    Pitfall II

Adventures of Tron - title screen messed up

    Halo 2600 - fully playable

Zippy The Porcupine - full game does not run

xxxx = (done) hacked to work on the AFP

xxxx = DPC+ games will not work on AFP

  9. Too far for me, but I bet it will be awesome!

Too far away for me unfortunately.  I wish there was one closer to home.

For closer expo's/conventions to you, check out my website: www.videogamestores.net

I haven't fully updated all of them for 2017, but you can see where they are located.

  10. Wizard of Wor needs to be hacked. It must be started as player two, so this should be changed.

I noticed this one the other day.  I couldn't control my dude.

It's a great port for the Atari.

Wizard of Wor still works - with the two player option. As the original required player 1 to use the right joystick, and the D-pad and buttons are for the left side joystick/fire button, it can still be played on the AFP. Just choose the two player game and control the blue player on the left side.

BTW - the Wizard of Wor 2: The Arena (homebrew) works too on the AFP - just a couple of distracting lines appear on the screen during gameplay.

  11. The Defender arcade hack is great!!!
