It's fun time - I always end up getting frantically worked up playing it!  The most unforgettable piece of Seaquest is definitely the TV ad for it 😆 - they don't make 'em like that anymore!

I have never seen that commercial! Why does Neptune have a horde of pirate submarines at his command? It seems like it should have been sharks and merfolk.

@Cryptocoffee13 I also want to recommend A.R.T.I. It's not the cheapest homebrew, but it's worth it. In my opinion it's better than H.E.R.O. and I love the cut scenes with the old man and the airplane. This is a nicely done game on the level of what I'd like to see Atari release for the 7800 and 2600+

I'd second A.R.T.I., which is also available for the modern VCS. The VCS is a great way to check out 7800 games, including homebrew, for far less than a physical cart.

My junior model only had a LED change.  Everything else in it is factory.  I tried two junior models, four switch, and 7800.  Same thing happens. Rest assure the junior model in the picture has not been modded beyond changing the power light.

No matter what console I put the game in it is not working.

Not that anyone should have to, but did you try cleaning the cart? I saw someone reporting similar issues with Mr. R&J that were resolved by cleaning and repeated inserts.

  4. The first Activision game to hit the series is Seaquest (1983). I love Steve Cartwright's work on the 2600. Barnstorming, Seaquest, Megamania, Frostbite...great stuff.

Seaquest is one I came to as an adult.  I love the bright colors and simple but challenging gameplay. I really wanted a patch worthy score, but it was not to be...

What do you think of Seaquest?

    Release Date: January 5, 2023

    Retail: $8.99

    Developer(s): Todd Furmanski

    Publisher: Todd Furmanski

    Official Site

Todd Furmanski's "Harpy's Curse" for the Atari 7800 is now available on the Atari VCS!

You are a harpy - swift of wing and vicious in nature. Banished to a deadly labyrinth, you are tasked with defeating the four keepers of the maze - only then can you face the Great Sphinx, who exiled you here. The labyrinth contains legendary artifacts - feathers of legendary birds and beasts that might aid you. Power might be found here, but you genuinely wish for escape, and the only way out is through the Sphinx.

    • Explore a vast scrolling maze made up of over 500 screens!

    • Fly and fight your way to find new abilities and powers!

    • Five bosses to find hidden among the winding passages!

    Note:

The game does work with the Modern Controller, but the emulator has a feature that can lead to frustration.  Currently, the emulator has the L3 (the left joystick button) mapped as a Game Reset.  This makes it very easy to reset your game amid play.  This button mapping will get updated very soon.  For now, the Joystick is the best way to play the game, but you can play with the Modern Controller if you know the L3 issue.

  6. If you're talking about original retail releases and enjoy arcade classics, you really can't go wrong with the launch titles done by GCC. They are the most common, and generally well regarded. The three Nintendo properties are solid. There are great later releases like Ninja Golf and Tower Toppler, too.

It gets harder when you add homebrew. There is so much goodness. The excellent unobtainium homebrew Rikki and Vikki is my favorite, followed by BonQ, Donkey Kong XM/PK, Knight Guy in Low Res World: Castle Days, and Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest. I'm sure that will change when I recieve my last chance order from AA.

  7. That's a really cool addition @CrossBow. Thanks for sharing! It's fantastic that Plaion/Atari are working with the community techies to improve emulation over all. Focusing on a single game goes beyond my expectations.

Any progress on 7800 Rampage or Double Dragon in your build? My 7800 Klax (from CPUWIZ about a decade ago) doesn't work, but I've seen others whose carts do work.
