Big problem on this game....it doesn't show your score for more than a few seconds after the game ends.  I got 12225, but wasn't able to snap a picture in time.  Is there some secret for getting the score back?

** UPDATE ** I switched to an emulator and will use the F2 pause button.  (Thanks Creep for that tip from your video).

Crap. Sorry guys. This seems to be happening a lot lately. Do the best you can and let's have fun with this! ☺️

I'm with @RickR on this about the timing. It was just a busy time. Hearing from them might help better. Only they can say for sure but I would guess it was due to it being Intellivision. Not as common in collections and emulating can be tricky. In my case I could only shoot up, down, left and right but I made due. I wouldn't let that alter anything though, we have had some great INTV turn outs in the past.

Thanks Chris! Maybe it's just that time of year. We're trying to diversify things this year with more games for more video game systems. Sometimes we'll end up with something on Intellivision, Atari 5200, Atari ST, Jaguar, etc. where participation will be lower than something for Atari 2600, NES or Game Boy. I just don't want the forums to become boring for anyone.

My opinion only (I speak only for myself):

    - September is a super busy time for me.  Work and personal.  Back-to-school time, for example.  It was really difficult to find time to play.  Maybe we should do month-long challenges in Sept.

    - Emulation works fine, but this particular game has such strange controls that it's awkward to play.  I should have tried a real console, but bullet point #1 stopped me.  I wonder if the "Intellivision Lives" version would have been better?

    - I'd like to hear from those that normally do participate.  They probably have better insight than me.

We should try this game again.  Maybe the 2600 version and the Intellivision version at the same time (like how you did Devil's Crush on TG-16 and Genesis).

Great points! Thanks @RickR! This has been a busy time for me too, work and personal. Some seasons are stronger than others for High Score Squad, but I try to keep the music playing if you know what I mean.

  5. :pole_position_blimp_big: Congratulations Atari Creep!

Congratulations everybody on your high scores @Atari Creep and @RickR! Why do you think participation was low for this game? Was it because it was an Intellivision Squad Challenge, or because there wasn't a lot of interest in Tron Deadly Discs? Does emulation for Intellivision prove problematic? Let us know so we can make High Score Squad even better! Atari Creep posted a score of 13,250, which I had the pleasure of watching him achieve LIVE on Instagram last week. Very cool to see you guys live-streaming these events! Rick R gave it his all and posted a solid score of 5,950. Congrats to both of you for taking up a tricky Intellivision challenge! I'd like to encourage @Atari Creep to post his new high score on the Scoreboard, and maybe this Challenge can continue on!

Our next High Score Squad Challenge will be posted today for the NES!

  7. :pole_position_blimp_big: Congratulations btbfilms76!

Congratulations @btbfilms76 on your fantastic score! I hope you guys enjoyed checking out Ghouls 'N Ghosts on Sega Genesis! This was a tough one! I was happy to see you guys jumping into this challenge even though there was some emulation required that you may not have had set up. You guys posted some seriously impressive scores on a very challenging Single Life Run. @btbfilms76 posted a score of 15,700 points before the cutoff time last Saturday night, @Control Issues was right on his tail taking 2nd place on the board with a score of 12,400 points, @RickR took the 3rd position with his A-game of 6,700 points played during a busy work week, and @Atari Creep rounds things out with an impressive 5,400 points. Congrats to everyone who jumped in to play in this squad challenge and shared a score!

Note: We've changed our schedule to accommodate for a horrific Halloween Squad Challenge coming up for the later half of October! Our next High Score Squad Challenge will be for the Mattel Intellivision!

  9. BTW I used the Sega Master System Control Pad this time for playing Pole Position II. I always have this perception of the Master System controller being clumsy and soggy... Until I pull it out again and actually play it. I don't hate it. I really like it a lot. It felt solid and responsive. After playing Hang On this summer on Sega Master System, the Control Pad felt like a very natural choice for playing Pole Position II. I hadn't done it in a while and plugged it in expecting there to be some issues but it worked perfectly. This is a great option to consider without having to mod an NES controller or custom build a new controller.

  10. :pole_position_blimp_big: Congratulations Everybody!

Congratulations everybody on your high scores! How was Pole Position II on the Fuji track? Pole Position II gets some hate on the Atari 7800 but I think it's a fun (and sometimes tricky!) adaptation of an incredible arcade game. I'd like to offer Gianna a very special welcome to the forums for participating in this Squad Challenge. You guys posted some seriously impressive scores on a very challenging track. You can bet we'll be back here this time next year to take on another PPII track. I hope everybody enjoyed our Summer Events this year, including the Pole Position II Grand Prix, Howard Scott Warshaw Day, and Pizza Party Weekend! We'll have some fun stuff coming up for the Fall and Winter too. Congrats to everyone who played! I'll post my new high score on the Scoreboard, and maybe this Challenge can continue on!

MESSAGE: Welcome to our 67th Squad Challenge, the 2019 Pole Position II Grand Prix! This will be our second Pole Position II Grand Prix Event! This year the Grand Prix will be a little different: This year's challenge will only be for half a month and we will only be racing the FUJI Track in an attempt to achieve your best high score! Last year the Grand Prix lasted for the entire month and we raced all four tracks for the best lap time. This year we are keeping things simple: We are racing for the best possible score on the FUJI Track. Pole Position is one of the most iconic arcade games released by Atari and was genre-defining for its time, setting a new standard of what racing gameplay could be like. Pole Position II of course was the pack-in title for the Atari 7800, and is often remembered as the first game 7800 owners played on their new game system. I have so many wonderful memories of playing Pole Position at Chuck E. Cheese's with my family, shifting gears and whipping around corners with a cheese stick in my hand and a cup of root beer on the floor under my feet. Pole Position II was also one of my favorite games to play at home and a wonderful memory on the Atari 7800. ROM and Instruction Manual are provided below. Good luck to everyone playing!

Congratulations @btbfilms76 on your high score! I hope you guys enjoyed checking out Ninja Spirit on TurboGrafx-16! How does this ninja game compare with Shinobi on Sega MasterSystem? @Atari Creep and @atarilbc likened Ninja Spirit to a shmup, I've never thought of it that way but that's a great point. There's a ton of action and a ton moving around the screen at the same time, especially once you get some powerups and body doubles. You guys posted some seriously impressive scores on a very challenging Single Life Run. @btbfilms76 topped out at 264,200, I came in 2nd with 244,800, @Control Issues had 156,700, @atarilbc with 128,900, @RickR with 105,500, and @Atari Creep rounds things out with 104,500. Congrats to everyone who played! I'm glad you liked it @RickR! It's a fantastic game, and another example of the kind of fun games they had on TurboGrafx that were unfortunately overlooked at the time. So glad you were able to join in on this and try this game out!

I should've responded to this sooner. Some TG games can be very quick with displaying the score. On this one, if you miss it, just give it a minute for the game to end again and it will still display your high score as long as you don't power down the console.

  15. Hey guys, glad to see so much participation in a TurboGrafx challenge! This is a really great game and I was hoping you guys would like it.

MESSAGE: Welcome to our 66th Squad Challenge! This time we're playing Ninja Spirit for the TurboGrafx-16! Ninja Spirit was released as a HuCard (TurboChip) for the TurboGrafx systems, and was included as a pack-in title with most TurboDuo game systems sold in the US! I think you'll find that Ninja Spirit is one of the stand-out titles among the US releases for TurboGrafx. It's a fun game with powerful jumps, different power ups and some serious ninja strategy. This has become my go-to game when I'm craving a ninja game. I should also apologize to you guys for posting this Squad Challenge five days late. I always try to post these on time. This variation is pretty fun. I wasn't great about selecting through the different options when I was a kid.  Often, I'd just opt for the default unless there were obvious changes like Air Sea Battle, Combat or Space Invaders.  As a grown-up it's been fun to click through and play a lot of these game variations. Some game options bring real variety to the proceedings and make these old games seem fresh.

Thank you @atarilbc! I love that you picked up on that. I think a lot of us grew up playing the default game variations. Mixing up the game variations and looking for the most challenging mix is a fun way to change things up and find new ways to enjoy these common titles. It's definitely been a fun approach to High Score Squad.

Congratulations @atarilbc on a most excellent high score! Did you guys enjoy Robotron on the 7800? I'd like to offer @RetroGameBoyz a very special welcome to the forums! The new dual-pad Atari 2600/7800 controller is a great new addition to the platform! You guys posted some seriously impressive scores on a very challenging game. All of you give yourself a pat on the back, I hope you all had fun with this one! Congrats to everyone who played! I'd like to encourage atarilbc to post his new high score on the Scoreboard, and maybe this Challenge can continue on!

Our next High Score Squad Challenge will be for the TurboGrafx-16!
