Awesome! We will have a thread in the Marketplace specifically for the Sidewalk Sale aspect of the festival to do exactly what you just did, share links to everything you have for sale and chat about it. I should go ahead and get that set up since you guys are already getting things ready!

Well, I don't have gear to capture or live feed anything in the 8-bit range...nor anything to capture HDMI output...but maybe I can get the wife to agree to a live feed of us playing Borderlands or Borderlands 2 with me on the 360 and her on the XBOX One.  We found a loop hole in XBOX's Live service where one of us can have gold and play multiplayer on two different XBOX consoles.  That might be possible.  I just know while we are playing we might not be able to keep an eye on any live chat questions or anything.  That might be doable if she is comfortable enough to do it.

Even just a video from your cell phone or a few pictures will do the trick 😉

Interestingly, even the 7800 monochrome labels come in variations.  Some will be the silver labels, others will be the dull gray.  I think I have one that might be a full-color label.

If you look at my first picture at the top of the page you'll see at least two variations. Centipede and Joust are black ink (1 color) printed on a metallic-looking label. These have a 1987 copyright. In my experience these have been the most common of the 7800 monochrome labels. Look at the Xevious label though. Xevious is black ink with silver ink used for the border (2 colors) printed on a white label. You can see in the artwork for Xevious that underneath it all is white. This has a 1986 copyright. Somehow they looked at that label and thought "You know what, we can eliminate one more color if we start with a metallic-looking label instead of a white label."

Have you ever seen those 2600 boxes that came in black & white?  I think they came in 3 packs of games.  Kind of crazy to see those.

I have seen those! It doesn't get more generic than that. They look like the little white boxes that the CX40 Joysticks came packaged in with the 2600. Let's also not forget the Jack Tramiel era monochrome 2600 boxes. I bought this at Kay-Bee in 1994. Imagine the impression this made on people looking at video games at the time:

I think Sony DID release a hard drive for the PS2.

They sure did! I sold these at Toys R Us and the Sony rep briefed us on them at the time. This would've been about 2003 around the middle of the PS2's lifecycle, when Sony was developing the PS3 and realized how important a hard drive would be moving forward.

The bundle we sold was called the "HDD" (Hard Disk Drive) and included a 40GB hard drive and Final Fantasy XI Online. Here's what it looked like:

I tried to order one but had trouble ordering. It would not let me complete my order when I went to pay. As soon as I saw Atari Creep's video and post in here tipping us off I went over and tried to order one. I thought they'd be sold out right away.

Can anyone confirm that they are actually Sold Out? The page disappeared for a few days and would redirect you, but I never saw it actually say "Sold Out". Usually in an online store like this, the product page will remain up and will say "Quantities limited" or "This item is currently Sold Out." I tried the link again today and found...

That link is ACTIVE as a pre-order for Dragon Quest Builders 2 for Nintendo Switch.

Interesting to note that it's 1.) the same manufacturer (Nintendo) 2.) the same link in the Dell store, 3.) the same pre-order product price of $59.99 and 4.) the same "Get it by" date in mid-July. Hmm 🤔 ...makes you wonder if there never was a Nintendo Wii shipment in the first place, and someone at Dell made a mistake when trying to enter the Dragon Quest Builders 2 pre-order.

Black & White cartridge label collection for Atari 7800.

Imagine thinking you can compete against Nintendo Entertainment System with this? Monochrome cartridge labels were one more thing that contributed to Atari’s perception of being a “bargain bin” discount brand by the end of the ‘80s. Incredibly, this is from a company still revered 40 years later for its fantastic box and cartridge artwork. Absolutely mind blowing 🤯💥:wreck-it-ralph:

Oh man, this is an OLD post :)  I still have this controller but I rarely use it.  I have an NES gamepad that was modified to be used on a 7800, and that's what I use exclusively.

Cool! How does the modified NES controller work?

  16. Another Atari console on the horizon for 1989. Just what everybody was asking for:

Just so we're clear for 1989:

    • Atari 2600
    • Atari 7800
    • Atari Lynx
    • Atari XEGS
    • Atari XE Computers
    • Atari ST Computers
    • Atari Portfolio
    • and now the Atari Mirai / Super XE

All taking space on store shelves at the same time. Atari should’ve focused their efforts on ONE game console to kill the NES. In my opinion Atari Corp. should have refined the Atari 7800 slightly with an improved "Atari 7800 Mk.II" before re-releasing the game system in 1986. Add more memory and a POKEY or Yamaha sound chip on board, and bundle in two of the 7800 D-Pad Controllers that were released in Europe. The Atari 7800 Keyboard should have been released with an ANTIC Chip, SIO and cartridge slots that would add reverse compatibility to the 7800 for the Atari 8-Bit Computers and Atari 5200. Release awesome games, advertise effectively, treat people right and pay vendors, problem solved.
