TrekMD got a reaction from Lost Dragon in The Original Jag controller D-pad is pretty good
I've never had a problem playing with the original controller for many of the games.  It works just fine and the D-Pad performs as it should.

Though using one button for both firing functions can be done, I much prefer having individual control.  Still a neat feature to have.

Yep, which is quite nifty.  He decided he couldn't make Star Casle and decided to create something similar but within the capabilities of the 2600.  Little did he know he was creating one of the system's top selling games!

Not with the Atari lamps.  The rod goes right through where the chip itself would normally be, so the boards are removed first, and the dust covers put back in place.  The M Network lamp carts still have their boards since they're only COB pcbs and are very small, so the rod doesn't go through them.

I think it's all rumor right now as to what the show will be like.  There is very little known about the show itself.  Netflix is rather good at keeping these under wraps.

I'm looking forward to whatever they'll be able to make in two 15 minutes segments.  This interview with Alec Peters may be of interest:

TrekMD reacted to Ballblaɀer in Disc Rot: The struggle is real
For retail DVDs and other discs with copy-protection, under current U.S. law (specifically the DMCA) this is illegal.  It's not the act of copying the media itself that's illegal (fair-use conditionally allows for that), it's the circumvention of DRM/encryption needed to make the copy.  The Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a lawsuit in July 2016 disputing the anti-circumvention restriction.

The EFF also pressed for exemptions to this and other things during the 2015 DMCA Rulemaking proceedings.  As a result, the act of jailbreaking cell phones was exempted.  An exemption was also granted to allow cracking or otherwise bypassing of server authentication checks for games no longer supported by their publishers.  One still can't legally set up new multiplayer servers for otherwise unsupported games (Blizzard v. BnetD), though.

Long story short: the DMCA does some sensible things but overreaches in a number of areas, and this is one of them.  It should be legal to make archival copies of things you lawfully acquired.

I didn't know about disc rot -- thanks for posting the article!

Ah yes, I saw this.  To be honest, I'm not too impressed with it so far but it certainly has potential. It'll be cool to see how far he takes it.

Part of it would have to be written from scratch but it is highly possible that some of the main CPU code could be reused since both systems use a 6502 variant processor.  Since the 7800 is a raster machine (and a very good one I might add) it would be able to handle all of the Tempest characters easily.  You might be able to bring those over as well since the MARIA chip handles sprites in a similar fashion as GTIA...just turn the images in an upside-down order.

I'm still learning how to program the 7800 but I would need aide in understanding, in dummy terms, how the DLL and DL are made up.  That is my only block.  Everything else I can figure out.

This is a game we have been working on for almost 5 years. Tempest Elite runs on a standard 64K Atari computer and has the ability to detect VBXE and Stereo Pokey. When detected it loads the subroutines (drivers) to take advantage of the upgraded hardware in 320x192 256 color mode. If not detected it will run with original Atari 8-bit Antic GTIA player/missile graphics in 160x192 4 color mode.
