After loosing 100% of my collection when Sandy came, I'm slowly rebuilding. Currently have 1 Woody 6 buttons, 2 vaders( well one the other is my experiment board) with just the titles of my childhood. I Also have an Odyssey 2 with 90% completion, Ti 994/a my first computer with a few carts, Atari 800 again with a few carts ( I had an 800xl, 65xe & 130xe prior to Sandy) and a few misc 80's pieces like a PS/2 model 30 & model 50z.

I've also been building mini game playing systems and recently my facination with the Altair 8800 (built the arduino version).

I'm a father of three great kids married to a wonderful wife who lets me put my toys in display for all

I am a big fan of Atari and not just Atari. I am also a fan of Chuck E. Cheese's, Creative Engineering, Microsoft, Apple, 90's Nickelodeon, Furby, Retro Video Games, Nintendo and Sega. Now enough of me talking about my interests. I'll tell you how I got into Atari. When I was younger going into Walmart and looking at all the cool games out there really interested me. I found an Atari Flashback in the game section and I knew it was something my dad would bring up sometimes. One day I asked my dad what it was like playing with Atari and he said it was great. He had a full collection of games and one Atari 8 Bit computer that he used for years. When the NES came out he was never a big fan of it and he ended up getting the XE instead. Lot's of years went buy and he started to loose interest but never completely got rid of his collection. He says it might still be left in his parent's house in New York and we might try looking for it this summer. My other interests will also take time to explain so I just chose Atari for today.

Albert posted a statement on AtariAge regarding Coleco that I think is deserving of everyone’s attention: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/265739-coleco-strong-arming-homebrew-publishers-and-fan-sites/page-42?do=findComment&comment=3777374

Many of our members are active on AtariAge and are also Coleco enthusiasts. The ColecoVision community has set a high water mark for classic gaming at its best. Just one example of this community is Eduardo Mello of OpCode Games who has done an outstanding job with bringing his projects to fruition. Eduardo has been a personal hero of mine for well over a decade, and in my opinion he's really hit it out of the park demonstrating a level of innovation and top shelf quality that can be done in homebrewing. Seeing what other classic gamers have done is inspiring. It's pushed me to go farther, try harder, and make everything I'm working on even better than I thought possible. This is exactly the sort of passion needed for classic gaming to thrive, and those who dedicate themselves to creating "new things for old toys" should be lauded for their endeavors. This might be a nice time to drop Eduardo a line, or any one of your favorite homebrewers, just to say thanks for all that they do.

I got this on email today and I'm curious as to what it is.  Looks like Atari has some new piece of hardware being released.  It's anyone's guess as to what this will be.  I doubt it'll be a console but looks like they are trying to emulate the design of the 2600.

Thanks for posting the audio version.  I saw the web/print version yesterday.  I really don't think ET is a total failure as a video game, but I guess I am in the minority.  I liked it back in the 80s and after I found out it was coded from concept to release in 5 weeks, I was even more impressed with the game.  Though I agree the pits are problematic.

GRay Defender reacted to TrekMD in WANTED: Feedback for Asteroids Deluxe for Atari 7800
    Here you go:
The one aspect of Atari’s version of Asteroids for the 7800 that many players dislike is that it does not have the vector-style graphics of the original arcade game.  Well, Bob DeCrescenzo decided to address this by hacking Atari’s original game into something that more closely resembles the arcade while adding the elements from the arcade “Deluxe” version of Asteroids to the title.  The goal of the game is as before, blast all the asteroids into smithereens to get the highest score.  Gone are all the colors and the rounded rotating asteroids.  Now there are vector-styled asteroids, alien ships, and starship all rendered in their glorious monochromatic fashion of the arcade.  In addition, you now have to deal with the Killer Satellites that break down into smaller segments that take aim at your ship and will not stop until they destroy you or you destroy them first.  As with Atari’s original game, two-player simultaneous action is also present, so you can choose to either compete against another player (where you are vulnerable to each other’s weapons) or cooperate (where you are not vulnerable to your partners weapons). Either way you are certain to have a blast with Asteroids Deluxe.  In fact, this is as much a must-have title as the original 7800 Asteroids given that one plays like the original 1979 title and the other is really a port of the 1981 version of the game.  So, what are you waiting for?  Call a friend and start shooting some asteroids!

Hi, all! I'm an old timer. Got my first 2600 in 1978 or so. Still have a Woody, 1040ST, ColecoVision, INTV, and most newer systems. Even built a full MAME machine. But I guess my claim to fame is I'm the guy who made the Atari Manual Tome back in 2002.

I was talking with BTB tonight about the 720° arcade game from Atari, as well as the port for Atari Lynx. BTB sent me a link to "720° Zone" and I thought I'd share it here. If you liked 720° this is a great website full of resources on how to buy, own, and restore 720° arcade machines. If you've ever played 720° or never played 720° this is worth checking out. I really enjoyed looking through this tonight.

I want to give a huge thumbs up to the Ray Carlsen "Power Saver" cable that's available for the C64.  It's a short dongle that goes between the C64 power brick and the C64 console.  If the power supply is good, the light on the dongle lights green and everything is good.  But if the 5V line is running high, the LED is red and no power goes to the computer.  A high 5V line can destroy chips on the board.  What's bad is that it could go high at any time, and you'd never know until your computer starts to die.

In my case, I tested a power adapter I was going to include with a C64 trade for a forum member here...and it immediately gave a red light!  I like to think we saved a C64 with this cable.

I paid $35 + $8 shipping for the cable, and I'm so glad I did.  Google search Ray Carlsen Power Saver to learn more and where to order.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by RickR for anyone using a Commodore 64.

I saw this vintage '80s Chrysler K-Car today at the McDonald’s drive thru window. It looked brand new, like it had just been driven off of the showroom floor. It even had an "Antique" license plate to designate it as a collector's car. I couldn’t help but smile at the older couple driving it and take a pic to share with you guys. Something about K-Cars and McDonald’s just goes perfectly together.

GRay Defender reacted to Video 61 in Surround ‘Em for Atari 8-Bit Computers
Surround 'Em is one of our latest games in progress. We are starting this discussion for all to view to see what we have done. We are not done with the Atari 8-Bit computer game yet, it has to be beta tested first. I think Surround 'Em would make a great 5200 game, and we are also in internal discussions if we are going to attempt to port the game over to the Atari 5200 and potentially to the Atari 7800 if there is a demand.

Here is a video with an audio commentary describing one of Video 61's future game releases: "Surround 'Em!" Please feel free to watch it and comment on what you think. Thanks!
