  1. It was a fun game and good sequel to the Out Of This world game.

Funny thing that, while many assumed Flashback was the sequel to OUT OF THIS WORLD (it was so more in spirit only) the TRUE sequel was a SegaCD / MegaCD exclusive called Heart of the Alien, literally the true sequel as you can see. Just forward this video to the 4 min 34 sec mark to avoid lots of babble before that. The SegaCD contained the original game and the sequel but the original creator had nothing to do with it and it was not as good.

  2. Oh there are other reason for sure though of course most do not compare with modern offerings but back in the day with my humble a500 and the RF modulator which had a composite out I played around with several video and titling programs making basic titles for my home VHS movies, art and animation with Deluxe Paint, listening to tunes with MOD players, viewing scene demos (mix of video and sound) for kicks. All nostalgic purposes for sure but the sound and graphics capabilities were amazing on that machine for the time. Great sounding and looking games kept me going for a long time before getting a 16 bit console like Snes or Genesis and found many of the titles that DID crossover onto Genesis still looked and sounded better on AMIGA though some of that was made for on consoles faster cartridge loading I admit.

  3. Excellent, it is the little aesthetic touches I love that can really make a system stand out but you know Justin this post comes with a extra benefit for me at least. I have several Colecovision controllers of various condition but I have a couple where that aluminum sticker on the top of the joystick (much like the 7800) is either very worn or damaged or in some cases entirely missing I I had been wondering for some time now HOW I can fix this and where would I even find aluminum stickers the exact size needed, Well looking out your parts list I see I can easily make them for myself!! Problem solved. THANKS.  :thumb: Hell I might do my 7800 controllers in the same fashion you outlined here as well, looks great and I always fine it cool to be just a little different than other people as you noticed people catch on pretty quick when something looks different form stock.

  4. Sound off gang, what say you?

We got a dedicated thread I think you will appreciate. So far though not much to say outside of speculation and the current owners of Atari being more just copyright holders that whore out the name. Until we get past RENDERED IMAGES and vague specs we got nothing, here's hoping though.

  5. You know I actually have TWO Atari Jr's. MAYBE I will clean them up and combine the two so that one is clearly the better looking / performing stock model and the left over second unit maybe I can consider doing some sort of "mod" , nothing fancy as I am not that skilled but if the case is more worn perhaps a paint job or something. Always wanted to try my hand at something like that and would rather do it on a spare Jr. than a 4 or 6 switch. Hmmmm......

  6. Hey nice approach on this one lol. Honestly they DO get a lot of flack, yes much is warranted but I always thought eh, at least they tried something different. Really it was kind of the in thing of electronics of the time,  much like the original ATARI 400 keyboard, a plastic membrane with pressure sensitive contacts underneath, maybe not exactly the same concept but seems similar to me, besides looking cool was it a good idea? Maybe not but they are certainly a product of their time. I actually been wanting to do more on these type of controllers, I have the Genesis and I think NES or SNES version of this controller and even another similar type for Colecovision which I think is by another company but still just a flat directional disc like these. They are definitely NOT something to use where you need sudden sharp pinpoint up / down / left / right turns (like say PAC MAN) BUT I find after some practice on certain types of multidirectional games they CAN actually be pretty good, at the very least they certainly are a unique way of playing. If I ever get around to it I want to try all these types of controllers like I mentioned on a variety of games, different types and genres from platform to action to puzzle games and see how they really play out. Someday.

  7. While we were out, driving to the roof of the downtown Parkade across from Melissa's work, just enjoying a bit of the clearing air and some discussion. Video in 2 short parts. @Kelowna Plaza Library Parkade. Note the "SMOKE" we mention are due to the fires across B.C. including near by towns and Washington State, WE ARE IN NO IMMEDIATE DANGER in our city however it has caused alerts regarding air quality etc. Today was the first day in a few weeks where we even experienced some clarity and sunshine, previously the sun appeared as a blazing red ball due to filtering through the smoke. While an improvement, for example when we reach the top the surrounding mountains you see in the background would normally be crystal clear instead of just looking like merely a shaded outline.

  9. Question for you:  If you live in BC, what were you doing at the airport?

Whoops sorry about that, DISREGARD the airport image, those last two images I included were for a relative, I was explaining how I had quite a beard and longer hair that I cut just before the Gulf Island Trip, I forgot to remove those. I will correct that now......  ;)

  10. Man I LOVED early attempts at electonics speech.

As an aside if I may go slightly off track here, here are two videos I did 8 years ago (forgive the potato resolution) on the INTVII and Intellivoice including B-17 Bomber. I didn't know what I was doing either and what you see here has pretty much remained unchanged in my collection as far as Intellivision goes.

My piss poor attempt at B-17 Bomber @ around the 4 min mark in this video.

Doh! forgot there was a part 3! lol this was so early on when my videos were restricted to a 10 or 15 min length.

OK now back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Just for fun keep it clean and within reasonable taste ;) of course but otherwise if you have come across an image somewhere that made you at least grin or chuckle then this is the thread to post it!
