If playing GB/C games on the GBA gets annoying, I can always plays them on my GBC.
I have Super Game Boy on my wish list, and it's a neat accessory to have. I also have a Game Boy Player for the GameCube, and I bought a few cartridges a couple of years ago to try that out. However, the GC currently sits disconnected.

For my purposes I don’t often collect CIB.
That's a good way to go, Harry. Collecting CIB games is a sickness. I started out with wanting just one CIB game -- the 2600 Pac-Man, the game that left a scar in my childhood video gaming memory. And then I got bit by the bug, so being content without boxes is 👍👍

This morning, I dusted off my Gameboy Color and turned it on for the first time in nearly 30 years ⁉️ and it still works! As I went to put in the batteries, I noticed that there was a cartridge inserted — Street Fighter Alpha. I had completely forgotten that I had this game. I just wanted to share this find. It’s like opening a time capsule. This was the last game I played on the GBC those many years ago.
By the way, the reason I brought out the GBC was to compare game performance between it and my new Gameboy Advance. Galaga on the Namco Arcade 3 cartridge for the OG Gameboy looked slightly sluggish on the GBA. I’ll have to play more to see if I’m just imagining.
Oh and I also found that my GBA headphone output suffers from humming, a common condition from what I gathered. It's annoying but thankfully not noticeable during gameplay.

I've also been using shoe boxes now that I've collected a small amount of loose cartridges. I never paid any attention to shoe boxes and had always thrown them away immediately, but I found some empty ones in the house from my wife and kids' shoes. They come in different sizes 😮 I suppose that makes sense since shoe sizes can vary quite a bit, but like I said, I never paid any attention before 🙂

@Dinobot711 I love the composition of the photo -- the TV, consoles, shelves, controller, games, and the beverage. It's just a very comforting shot.

As I looked into the HSC, I went to the Atari Museum site that had links to places that used to sell the HSC repro. One of them was http://www.atari7800.com/. Click on that and it redirects to the I/O -- neat! I wonder what other domain names Justin may have scooped up that redirects to the I/O.

And who would’ve thought this game had High Score Cartridge support? I can find one of those things anywhere for sale. I don’t think they make them anymore.
Harry, are you talking about something like this? https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1194

Do we know if the ROM for Super Pac Man 7800 (or other homebrew games) is available for download? I would love to try it via the Concerto cart.
Check out the first comment in this thread for the rom: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/132832-7800-super-pac-man-i-found-the-bug/#comments

Some New Year's additions! I picked these up this morning.
Going into 2021, I had in mind to add a Vectrex and GBA this year. I had no idea that I'd acquire both of them during the first week of the new year though. I missed out on a deal for a Vectrex that Rick pointed me to last month and felt bad about missing out. This one makes up for it though. It's in great physical cosmetic condition, and it comes from a loving home. The local gamer who sold it to me only had it a little over a year and had very limited use. Prior to that, it sat in his friend's parents' house unused for more than twenty years. It belonged to his friend's father who passed away about a year and half ago. Photos below of it sitting in the front seat for the ride back home safely buckled in.
I got the itch to play GB and GBC games, and I learned that the GBA can play them all. This one is in a custom case with SNES colors and a new IPS screen.
Rick, I feel a little stupid right now. I thought you recommended Guitar Hero, and that's what I picked up for the PS2. Oh well. I'll have some fun with it, and look into Rock Band later as well 🙂

My discoveries have mostly come from participating in high score challenges, and they're all 2600 games. Outside of Galaxian, I had never even heard of these games (all released by CommaVid). These are simple games and yet challenging to master -- the best kind of games.
- Galaxian
- Room of Doom
- Cosmic Creeps
- Mines of Minos
There is one more game that I want to highlight, and it's the 2600 Pac-Man. I mentioned this before in other threads that I resented the game for nearly forty years, but some discussions that were had in the I/O about the effect of the color of the game completely changed my perception of the game. Now, I love it and appreciate it as a unique game in its own right and feel like I've re-discovered it.

Ha, I think that's the first time I've heard your voice, Harry 🙂 You sound just as I had imagined.
The games I picked run the gamut of systems and are all favorites of mine. They represent the letters Y-O-U-N-G.
Passing the baton to @RickR -- spell out your full first name, Rick, so we have more than four games, or... spell out your last name 🙂 It deserves its time in the spotlight since it's always only shown as a single letter.

PS - I'm playing on my "PlusCart" because I'm too lazy to go into the attic and find a loose copy. And PlusCart has a "Recently Played ROMS" choice that makes it a lot easier than Harmony.
Recently played? Oooh, that's a neat feature. I signed up to be notified when it's back in stock. Hopefully, it won't take too long.

Man, this game is tough. It took me three or four tries to break 10k. I don't think I need to worry about rolling the score anytime soon 🤣 Just like in real life, I suck at pinball although I love them. Video Pinball feels a bit like I'm playing a pachinko machine just watching the ball bounce around on its own most of the time. I'm trying to learn when to use nudge the table.
Neat game! It's another 2600 game that I've never played before.

Wow, Harry! 👍 👏
For the rest of the players competing for the top 3 spots, it's time to bring out the juice to get to the finish line. Time for some PEDs to compete with a teen!! Don't be proud. We all need help especially when cool nerves and reflexes are concerned and we've hit middle age 😆 Some call it coffee but I say it's time to bring out something stronger. It's New Year's Eve after all 😁

Ok, Rick, you got me interested. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and findings.
I briefly thought about getting one a few months ago. I didn't know there was a server to download public roms from in addition to uploading and downloading your own files. If it's a more convenient way of playing homebrews and hacks, then I'm in. I'll order one when it's available. The assembled cartridges are currently sold out.

I ❤️ her humor when a cellist isn't playing and taking selfies or doing something else 😆 Seems to go very well with the mood of the 60s Batman
