Recommended Posts

Atari 2600
Difficulty Level: Default

Achieve high score to win challenge
Play on: Real Hardware / Dedicated Console / Emulation OK! ✔

Squad Challenge ends 11:59 pm PST March 31st, 2017

Objective: Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between March 15th through March 31st, 2017. Screen captures are not allowed as they are easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the 2-week competition is the victor!

Eligibility: Anyone can join in. All players are welcome!

Play Rules: Games may be played on real hardware or emulation, using any controller or keyboard, following rules and game settings as delineated in the Squad Challenge. Enhancements and hacked versions of this game are not allowed.

Difficulty Level: Default. The Difficulty switches and Game Select switches are not used in this game.

Scoring: A "realistic" odometer registers the miles you've covered in the game. Beneath the odometer is the day indicator, which keeps track of the number of days you've been on the Enduro circuit. When the race is over, the mileage on the odometer and the day on the indicator represent your rating results or score.

Fair Play: Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that no use of cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, Photoshop, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage is allowed. Everybody hates a cheater.

I would have made 11 days too if it wasn't for the fact I misjudged my opening between me and another car.  I hit the last car and 20 passed me in 2 seconds.

What I do is get up to speed just enough to pass the cars at a decent rate of speed.  I don't try to go too fast because you need time to move and slow down to avoid a collision with other cars.  It might be fast but it doesn't handle very well on normal roads.  It's also best to run off the road instead of hitting another car.  If your car shifts more than three times then you are going too fast.

First try.

This game is really a great choice for a high score challenge.  I don't think I've ever really played it before.  Very fun.  My issue is that I kept pressing the button to brake.  I need to get better acquainted with the controls.

I think Pole Position for 2600 does the brake with the button

yeah fun game :)

great first run B)

I made a goal to make it to day 3...and here it is...

I took a self portrait of myself while playing:

Haha that's officially the Post of the Week, Rick

I don't know if I can get to Day 10 or not, but I love this game and I'm going to drive this thing as far as I can. Good luck everybody!

Day 6, 923.9 mi

Was flooring it at the end, crashed on the last car needed to pass to make Day 7.  :wreck-it-ralph:

it was prolly one of them Pennsylvania drivers always driving slow in the fast lane

Been playing this on my Flashback Portable...and it doesn't display anything but mileage! Ughhh...better play this on a real console, I guess!

would be interesting to see a screen-shot .... I would imagine mileage would be enough ... I don't know much about the FBP database of compatible games but would make a good contribution if hadn't already been mentioned.

think I got a Day 4 pic but ain't posted it yet .... I need to get a few more games in for sure
